If that drum support bracket were made of steel instead of aluminum it would last a heck of a lot longer.

These used to be made of steel decades ago, actually!

Sometimes these PCB's suffer corrosion along the bottom, on the inside (Behind the plastic shield). You may be able to clean it with a fibreglass brush and bridging with some wire. The chamber at the bottom of the black rubber hose can get crud-filled too giving false readings about water levels too. The drum support can last 20 years. You just need to hot-wash regularly and leave the door open to dry out the drum insides. Never keep the door shut if possible (Unless using of course)

Leaving the door open will help avoid mould buildup. Not drum failure. The hotwashes address that by dissolving any detergent that gets coated on the support arm. Helps if there is something in the water to specifically go after that detergent residue. Citric acid is the best I know of currently. There might be something better. Avoid vinegar. Rots seals and isn't as strong.

these spiders die with specific way of use...id you use only liquid and low temperatures the creation of slime and bad odour help to corrode but when powder is used spider is preserved and hot empty washes with some powder are very usefull

I understand the corrosion of the spider due to the accumulation of detergent on the drum support. Whether it's liquid or powder makes no difference. The issue is getting that detergent off somehow. Now if the water level reached halfway then it would bathe the spider and something acidic would dissolve any detergent that got stuck on it. But we're not allowed to do that as water that high will weaken the bearing seals and then the bearings will go. So I'm thinking regular tub cleans with citric acid is the only way.

@@johndoe-vc1we i disagree with you most cases with broken spiders are those who use only liquid detergent combined with always low washing temperatures this opinion came out from my technical experience on these machines.Try to use only powder and less liquid and have an empty boil wash with powder every month with or without clothes citric acid is used once per year to remove limescale deposits

@@JIMDP25I see broken spiders on machines but the tubs are quite clean. Not much residue. How do you explain that? Obviously, they were running maintenance washes and keeping the door open because there is no mould. But still, the spider got oxidised. How? I saw a video where the guy was only using liquid. His spider cracked after 13 years. He started maintenance washes after five years. Hot on the intensive setting. What is hot? max 60 if you're lucky.

@@johndoe-vc1we electrochemical reaction of 2 different materials is know as material electrolysis and this action can be fastened with liquid detergents while doesnt happen the same with powder because powder seems to prevent that by powder solid ingredients

That black pressure pipe could be the problem, sometimes they end up with a pinhole due to age or wear then it ends up losing its pressure to work properly ,it's easy to replace .

Where can i find a replacement drum spider for a miele w1213 front load washing machine? It has the three long screws holes that tighten it to the inner drum. The old aluminum spider has disintegrated and I don"t want to buy the entire inner drum with spider attachment. I live in Canada.
