Thanks Hameed! I had the exact same problem. Miele offered ~$1700 CDN for the basket, spider and shaft part since they're not separately sold. They appear to be made together; they align the basket to to the spider with epoxy and are presumably fixtured before curing. Instead I made a stainless spider using the old shaft. I turned the splines that were embedded in the old spider off, then made a stainless hub which I shrunk-fit onto the shaft. Then I welded on some 2x3/16" "channel" that I made out of some square tubing. I should have done that first and did the shaft bore last but I didn't so I had to spend a lot of time bending the arms of the spider to get the basket to run true. I did the final alignment and offset with washers. It sounds like a lot but it didn't take as long as disassembling and reassembling the machine. This was all a few years ago but the bearings are starting to get a bit worn and need replacing. I'll try to get a video of what I did when I do them. Speaking of which, if you still have this around I would love to know what the bearing sizes are for sure. I suspect they're a 6205 and a 6206 but I'm not certain. Where I'm at there's no calcium in the water. That' s aluminium oxide you're looking at which is the result of galvanic corrosion between the spider and the basket. With my stainless spider, the washing machine doesn't stink any more either.

Oh, I fixed the hole in the housing with some epoxy. I only found it after reassembling but it's been OK for 3 or 4 years.

They do have bearing for this unit, they just don't want you to repair it, instead buy another washer, message me on Facebook Hameed wafa, I will send you more info about bearing and I think I have a set of them at home somewhere.

@@paulmoir4452 In manual it says bearing number 1 part # 6215520 / BB13306B and bearing 2 part # 6215590 / BB13305D also kit, part # 68066204 which costs in Canada $425 Whole drum with spider costs over 1300 :( Got same problem but no hole in the case, just need a spider, which I cant find and no idea how to make it out of steel. Maybe something would fit from other machice....

@@markusm4440 Thanks, the "BB12205D" might be construed as "Ball Bearing 3305" which could be an angular contact ball bearing, but my recollection is that they are plain bearings. I'll find out soon. I just wish I could find a seal so I could replace it too, but the price for new ones is far too high. I might have to design something for that too! For what they quoted me, I could get a fabricator and a machinist to make the spider here out of stainless. It just helped I am an OK welder and an OK manual machinist. Thanks Hameed; very informative video. I need to replace the plastic display panel over the control unit. Would you please share with me the process to remove a broken panel? Thanks.

The flang is called a rear drum support. Techs nicknamed it the spider bracket

That’s what happens when you use powder because that happened to my old Bosch but powder can also damage bearing seals allowing water to rust the bearings making it loud

Thanks for the heads-up! Went searching, and some sites recommend running a load of vinegar and baking soda to dissolve the deposits around the spider bracket. Would this really work? Could it hurt the metal there?

I run a little acid every now and then to remove soap buildup. But nothing will help the stainless-aluminium mix with any electrolyte, you can't fix a bad design with any kind of maintenance. Maybe if you could dry the machine really well between uses but Miele really goofed on the W4xxx series. (I forgive the cheap brands since they need you to replace your washer regularly, but Miele charged a premium price for an economy design.)

Hameed thanks for the video. We have the same exact washer machine and recently you could hear it grinding or hitting something when it was spinning around and eventually during the cycle it threw an error message and stopped. When we opened the door our clothes were covered in what seemed like blue sandy grit all over them and after seeing your video it looks like it is calcium build up. We tried lifting the drum up with a crowbar and using a Milwaukee sea snake and some tools tried to see what was inside because it seemed like it was hitting something inside the drum. Needless to say we have not been able to remove what is inside there and been on the fence on what to do next. Do you think The flange could be broken? If you try to spin the machine manually you can hear it hit something and it’s like the entire drum is off the track so to speak. Just looking for some direction before I take the entire thing apart and waste ours an hours of time. Most appliance technicians around here do not know much about Miele. Thank you in advance!
