Oh definitely hits home for me who has lost my mom just over a year ago. I can agree that the ability to retain your childlike self gets a lot harder when you no longer have a parent to go to. But it only becomes harder, not impossible. You just have to be determined to hold on to that childish way of looking at life and actively choosing to be carefree in moments when you can. Choosing to become a kpop fan and fall in love with new artists is a great way to feel that childlike excitement again. 😊

I love this comment, this is exactly honestly how I just try to live out my days to be honest, its good to have those moments, as my parents get older its a hard thing to swallow that time has past so fast, I feel like I barely got to enjoy it and now its here and I try so hard to stay that kid

IU wrote this song with her grandmother in mind whom IU is very close to. There is a well known story of how her grandmother supported her in her early struggles to become a singer. You can google the about details, and it would explain a bit more what made IU the person we know today and why this song is one of the 3 songs she wants to be remembered with.

The guy on the piano is singer/composer/arranger Kim Jehwi who has been with IU for quite awhile. He was likely the arranger of you favorite IU songs. He also directs IU's 'Pallete' interview show episodes.

For someone who has only started diving into IU's vast discography, I must say you have a great grasp on the messages she tries to convey in her slower/ballad songs. A lot of her ballad songs make you think how relatable the lyrics are to your personal experiences. Definitely one of the reasons she (along with Suga and RM) are my favorite artists.

idk if you cheat or search in internet, but yes ... this is abt iu's childhood experience of sleeping in her grandmother's lap. she has insomnia, and this song is abt she remembering her sleeping in grandma's lap, hoping that the memory can help her sleeping better :') this song is like a hidden gem, and a healing song for fans. Especially those pre chorus(es), that "I'm tired" is sooo relatable for working class/ hardworking S.Korea society :')

I honestly wish that I could tell you something about cheating or a long session study planned before hand, but I actually do just go in blind on everything I do. I knew that she was close with her Grandma based on previous comments, and deduction kicks in then I just add my own feelings 😁

I read somewhere that iu made song knee’s thinking of her grandmother and how she’d rest on her lap when she was young. Also fun fact in the kdrama “The Sound of Magic” the song “Knees” was used in the show and iu let the show use the song for free. The director talked to her about purchasing the copyright so the drama could be released worldwide but she said since she wrote and composed the song herself they could just use it without having to buy it. This is probably because the director worked with iu back when she acted in the kdrama “Dream High”

I do think it's funny that she sings about lying her head on someone's knees (what the song title refers to) but then the subtitles translate it as "lap" instead of "knees" 😅 It's basically the same meaning, but I mean, the English song title was _right_ there haha To me there is something very wintery about this song, so quiet and warm and cosy and sleepy 😊
