Gabriel: "I love when Matt is not afraid to use his falsetto" Matt: "You said Micro Cuts was next??? Then you are going to love this"
I wish I could listen to Citizen Erased for the first time again!

I had nothing but a huge grin this entire journey of a tune with you. Thanks Gabriel. This band is absolutely wonderful. As a musician myself, they opened my mind to so many possibilities. Keep exploring. It is worth it when it comes to Muse.

Hey Gabriel, loving the Muse reactions. If you haven't recorded the Micro Cuts vid may I suggest the version from the anniversary remastered album muse released last year? Its a more dramatic version then the original with a fair few musical elements that where toned down in the original release. Same applies for Space Dementia if you ever react to that. Great work man, keep it up.

@@letiquia That's cool each to their own dude, not everyone likes the remasters and I get that. I actually like that he opts for the studio versions over live myself as for some reason people always focus on their live stuff and forget their genius on their albums. Just a suggestion and it's up to Gabriel which he goes for and I'm cool with whatever he chooses. Maybe one day he'll get to do both?
My favourite muse song. This song is a journey. Sometimes you better close your eyes to have better experience. Eargasm. This song more badass live. And there's a new remix 20th anniversary version which has a better production.
This song used to be my alarm in college. That Main Riff gives me a sense of urgency lmao
Butterflies and hurricanes is one of their very best songs.

They have a live/b-side album called hullabaloo. I think you will really enjoy the b-side half. It has some of their most experimental tracks and would have made an interesting studio album. Shrinking universe, yes please, ashamed, nature_1 and Recess
One of my favorite songs by MUSE! It just take you on a journey. Love every second of it. Perfect headphone song too!

You have a great taste man! Thank you for being sincere. I'm glad you are enjoying muse. We Muse fans enjoy watching you too. Cheers!
i have been waiting for this reaction to come out for the whole day! I'm so glad you liked it!! Yes, it is perfect, it combines all the elements that make Muse great, it's varied, it's so emotional but also really technical. It's a wonderful journey to when he starts with that heavy-harmonics riff to when he ends it on that tearful piano ending. Ah, to be you and experience this song again for the first time... BTW, Normally, Matt plays a 7-string guitar live, but he recorded it with a bass string on a normal 6 string guitar in Drop A. I think Micro Cuts will be more of your liking as it's much heavier, especially in the end.. Also yeah, the ending of Citizen Erased leads into Micro Cuts.
@gmetzgermusic

Read something about that. Big fan of 7 string stuff!
I agree with you, really great song!! I also got those Pink Floyd vibes in the one section you did in particular. The slow sections also made me think a bit of David Bowie circa his "Heathen" album. Great stuff!
Really loved how Matt kind of went crazy with that solo. Haha.

I knew you would really appreciate this amazing song. the diversity of atmospheres, dynamics and melodies is so good
Man citizen erased hits the emotions differently.
Aw man I'm loving just going through your muse reactions from these old albums. Bringing up so much wistful nostalgia from my younger days. This particular song I remember making me feel ... not melancholy but something like it. Just human, alive, sad, but not upset. Hard to explain. Anyway thanks for doing these!
Also, I grew up with this version but as others have already mentioned, Muse released a 20 years Anniversary version of the whole album. Many say the instruments sound crispier and more clear on the new version, but I'm already used to the muddy sound of the original mix. I'd suggest just like you are doing on studio vs live, that you stick with the Original releases instead of the new versions.
As someone else mentioned, they released a fully remastered version of Origin of Symmetry last year. Sounds more refined and layered. Worth a listen!
The soft parts of this song are so beautiful. The heavy sections take away from the ethereal melancholy mood.
Dude i love everything you say. Finally it fits better to you to do the studio versions. Keep it up.

Maaaaan this is awesome to watch someone discover pre-black holes Muse! You’re in for such a treat and haven’t even got to b-sides yet, by far Muse’s best work imo. You gained a sub here mate ❤️

Also, maybe just try a couple of out of sync b-sides as a taster, I recommend their cover of house of the rising sun, eternally missed, the groove, futurism and, just for fun, find their early bootleg of plug in baby when the lyrics were incredible

I love how you immerse yourself in bands and am loving your Muse exploration, don’t stop now there is so much more to explore. That said…….. I suggest you check our Porcupine tree (circa 10 albums to go at) and the solo work of their lead singer and composer Steven Wilson (circa 5 albums). I think you will love a lot of their work based on what you have said about Muse. It sits somewhere between the prog of Pink Floyd and the metal of Opeth but like muse it is very difficult to pin them down to a genre as every song is quite different. For Porcupine tree i would suggest ‘Trains’, ‘Open car’, ‘Lazarus’,,‘ Hatesong’, and ‘Fear of a blank planet’ as rounded starting point. They have some epic long songs but maybe check out the shorter ones first
Such a great song. Love watching your reaction ❤️

Listening this album in 2022 is maybe like ''that was weird'' but trust me, in 2001, in the middle of all the new genres coming out... THIS WAS F ***G AWESOME. I remember calling it ''that's the music for years I played in my mind'' people hate 'em 'cos of the falsettos, pianos and weird song structures (sometimes) but that's 'em, that's what makes 'em what they are

Chris is using a lot of effects in his bass sounds, including synth. So when you hear rytmic synth sounds on their songs, its likely to be the bass😎

I've always been of the belief that Citizen Erased is to Muse what Bohemian Rhapsody was to Queen. Except Citizen Erased doesn't seem to be as well known as other Muse songs.
This song literally gets stuck in your head and you can’t listen to it enough to get tired of it, it’s an issue.
To echo a few other comments, really enjoyed you enjoying what is probably my fave Muse song. If you haven’t already (still working my way through your vids), check out Dead Star and Eternally Missed!

There was a remix of the second album(XX Anniversary RemiXX - all on Muse official youtube channel, right on top of the list), some of the songs is better in remix and some not. If you will be checking some of this: Futurism, Hyper music, Space dementia - use remixed versions, they are amazing. And Citizen Erased sound way better as well.

Will definitely check out live performances on my own time after listening to the songs.
I don't know if anyone pointed this out already but last year they released a 20th Anniversary Remix Edition of this album. It doesn't radically change the sound of the songs or anything like that, it's more just cleaning up the tracks giving them more clarity and sounding less crushed. Some of the songs really benefit from it.
