    This is the one I've been waiting for you to react to, my favourite song by my favourite band, I saw this for the first time live in 2001 in Le Zenith for the Hullabaloo gig, I still think that is their best ever live performance of this song, it encapsulates everything I love about Muse, heavy prog rock, classical influence, from the Origin era, piano outro, your reactions were great too, glad you liked it

    I agree with you George, we tend to think of wild, screaming guitars with rock but this was controlled whilst still being up there. I didn't come across Muse til the release of Black Holes and consequently in my head they're forever stuck as a "new" band. That's approaching 20ish years...and because I can't manage to shift the label they make me feel old dammit! Also love the time of posting of this vid, saves me sitting up half the night for it! Nope. Plenty of backing tracks. Sorry. As you well know I hate backing tracks. I like watching live music. It doesn't have to sound perfect. I enjoy the little mistakes. Oh well. If you looked up crotchety old guy in the dictionary, my picture would be there a an example. And by the way, had some knob Creek recently. Lovely.

  • @TheThamesmen

    Sure there is some smutty Knob joke to be made but I shall rise above it! There is a 4th player on stage with Muse you dont see and so possibly some of what you hear but dont see played is from him? I (George) think it is the reality of huge stadium shows because of the lights and video the musicians have to play to a click track and be precisely timed. Kind of why I like to go and see bands in person in small venues. That said when watching a video I appreciate the show and the sound quality. After all it is a called a show!

  • @Jessesgirl2013

    @Jessesgirl2013

    I think George is right and what you’re hearing as backing tracks is probably Morgan on synth and keyboard parts. He’s visible on stage in several shots. I mean, the whole point of having a paid touring musician is so that you don’t have to rely on backing tracks. I think the only time they really pop up at Muse concerts these days is when they need orchestral parts or a choir.

  • @markburris9778

    @markburris9778

    @@TheThamesmen Please don't criticize the Knob. Not really a bourbon fan but it's wonderful. And they are using backing tracks. To be fair almost all modern stadium bands use them. The search for perfection in live shows bores me. But maybe it's because I need a nap.
