This video is distinguished as one with both a great song/performance filmed in front of the WORST audience ever! 🤔

(with respect) you pommies have no idea (with respect) of what Cold Chisel means to the Australian psyche. Half the population would make Bow River the national anthem if they could.

During their final tour (after it was announced that Gord was dying of cancer), I was fortunate enough to attend a show on one of the two nights in my city. I captured a piece of this song (“It’s A Good Life”), one of my all-time TTH faves. (You’ve done a wonderful review here, gents!) To answer the question of what going to a Hip concert was like, you can get a sense from my messy video linked below. Sightlines aren’t much, but you can hear the crowd belting along to “Wheat Kings” and see the mutual love affair during Gord’s farewell comments at the end. Yes, some patrons “imbibed”, but it never felt anything other than one big love-in. Scenes like this were common across the country-this could have been any Canadian arena at any time during their run. Despite our regional differences, The Hip was universally loved. kzread.info/dash/bejne/qqCZpaR8ZZvcZ7g.htmlsi=_yn4VVNE6SsmMiu5

I am 74. There were 2 entire years that everyone seemed to be kind and gentle with each other. Accepting of each other. I will always cherish that time. People felt obligated to hide their nastiness 'cause it just wasn't cool, man.

It's a pity they are only known worldwide for Beds Are Burning, studio version. I am a big fan, and my unpopular opinion is that their studio sound does not represent 0,5% of their true energy and what they really got to deliver to the listener. Gotta se and listen them live to grasp the real Oils. If they were british or americans probably would be praised as the top 10 biggest of all time.

The Aussie pub rock scene was the best. Great bands, great music, sweat and cigarette smoke. It was destroyed by pubs replacing bands with poker machines and $#it like that.

I don't think the intro which goes from funky to reggae to blues, or the singing that leads up to the solo and gives it all meaning, should be disregarded.
