technically Space Dementia is the condition that astronauts are supposed to sometimes experience when looking at Earth from a space station, of meaningless, loneliness and total isolation. The song in particular talks about a person in Matt's life that gave him those similar feelings, in a way it's kind of a love song for a toxic relationship. It takes A LOT from Rachmaninov (second piano concerto, 1st movement) and it's one of Muse's most classically inspired songs.

The chord changes in this song are otherworldly. Cool how you checked out the remixx version instead of the original, since the original doesn't have the string arrangement in the final verse

Love Survival. It's a very motivational and encouraging kinda song. I think it's most effective when listened to right after Prelude - the instrumental prior to Survival in the album.

i recommend listening to Survival alongside the small intro track that comes before, Prelude. Sadly they never played the two live together but it's the best way to enjoy such a grand track like Survival. Just look up Prelude + Survival on yt.

Man I loaded this up and saw the cover for the original album and was like 'ok cool he's gone for the original', then as I'm listening I'm like no way this is the original, it sounds way too crisp and you can hear the extra instrumental sections such as the strings that were buried and then realised that you were in fact reacting to the remaster. Glad you went with this as it is one of the songs that definitely benefitted from the remastering. Glad you liked it and another great reaction.

This is a great example of Muse's Rachmaninov-inspired piano rock. Also, about the meaning according to Matt: "Space Dementia is the term NASA used for what happens if you're left out in space for a long time, because if you truly conceptualise the situation of being there and looking back at Earth, it can drive you mad."

i believe you are listening to the RemiXX of this. in the original song, when he says “space dementia in my eyes and peace will arise and tear us apart and make us meaningless again” Matt’s voice actually swirls around and his voice has a spiral like feel to it
