@@cc8530 I don't have anything to do with the Media arm as I work in the Insurance side of the company. The amount of time and money spent on making their videos so high quality makes me not too bothered by the ads but I get it.

What a coincidence I have sold my 1995 Clio Williams in 2015 and both 2001 Maserati 3200 Gt. It is such an honor to see my both cars listed Hagerty article. Since November 2015 I have own 3200 Gt only 66.000 km odometer. Great looking car, satisfyingly fast and pleasure to live with. However there are only 10/15 pieces in Turkey and really hard to run. At the end of the day I can say yes I drove a Maserati ;)

As an ex owner of a manual 3200 (4 years) I can attest it is a special place to be when on the road...and it can be very lairy when not respected! Honestly, I've always been suprised it hadn't commanded higher asking prices (for the good ones) as it is a hell of a lot of car for the money. Best approach to it I'd say is to remember, it's a complex car that requires regular maintenance to keep it at its best. Much life fezzas of the era. Original parts are challenging to come by now but there are better quality replacements out there for most parts now. Expect and budget for £2k-£2.5k a year on servicing and maintenance and that should cover you for the higher cost years when belts and clutches need doing. Do that and you'll be well rewarded.

Those back lights were stunning.

Out of the entire list in this series, this is probably the one I was most excited for! These are so underrated and so cool! I love the later 4200 GTs also, but this car, especially in a spec like this, it's aged really well. One of those weekend cars you'd love to go for a casual trip to your favourite coffee shop or something.

Maserati 3200 gt is a fantastic car. I have two of those and I love them very much. An absolute joy to drive. The car does require some tender love and care, but the owner who knows how to treat her properly will be rewarded with a great driving pleasure. Once the known weak spots are removed, they are shockingly reliable! The automatic gearbox is very good, but the manual is just much more fun! Important: this is not a race car, it is a really fast GT car! If you like the style and the brand - go for it! It will put a big smile on your face!

I have a 2002, 3200 GT with just 34,000 on the clock. I love this car and have no idea what you mean when mocked the build quality. My car is beautifully put together!

Absolute winner - loved having the 3200 on our channel a few years ago and love to see it on the list 👏

Beautiful car. This is still one of the few 90's cars that is desirable and has aged so well. Brought Maserati back from the brink and the boomerang tail lights are so cool. These are criminally undervalued. They should be at least double the price for the looks and performance you get. For me the most beautiful cars from the 90's were (in no particular order): Porsche 911 (993). TVR Tuscan Speed Six. Ferrari 550 Maranello. Ferrari 456 GT. Maserati 3200 GT. Venturi Atlantique. Aston Martin DB7.

Had one for 3 years and has been and continues to be a pleasue to own. Maintaining it is what you would expect from a 20 year old limited production car from Italy. I live in Australia and in a maserati club with several other 3200 owners also 3200 Facebook group's. The cars do have some gremlins but if maintained they are pretty bulletproof. There are some really insightful and detailed reviews done recently on KZread for those interested in the car.

I bought mine new in 2000 and had it for 4 years it was a fabulous car to own I do miss it, incredible value now, but you must only buy the best with a full set history

I'd imagine these neat coupes are as cheap as they are due to engine rebuild costs! A twin turbo italian car from the 90s sounds like a lesson in patience for whatever mechanic gets the "pleasure" to work on it!

There’s always a dude crawling out from the sewers saying: “awww these are so expensive to maintain, it’s a dumb idea to buy one of these because you’ll end up broke”. No they aren’t. They are equally expensive to maintain as AMG and M cars. Mine hasn’t gone wrong once and it’s been tuned.

@@Eidrian111 never said it was a dumb idea, just explaining why I believe they're as cheap as they are. Late 90s AMG and M cars (or even the RS Audis) are 3x more valuable on the used market for a reason. And if they're as expensive to maintain, the German rivals are safer buys. Not more fun! Just safer. Parts will be more readily available both OEM and aftermarket, and more shops will be willing to work on the Germans for a good price.

@@Corvolet5 indeed the ones from the 70s and 80s were terrible but from the 3200 GT and up they aren’t as unreliable as previous ones. They are as expensive to maintain as Mercedes AMG and BMW M cars, I know this because of personal experience.

I adore this car! My absolute favourite Maserati and I would want one more than my next breath! It is beautiful, interesting and rare!

Thanks for the video. Always found the 3200 amazing. Feels so special both in looks and noise, my dreamcar since I saw it first time in a magazine, which I still keep. Tested a manual example; it might give more fun, but visit the gym oftenly if you wish to successfully negotiate traffic while changing gears. The clutch I found really hard. And since the 3200 aims to be a comfortable car for long distance, glaumorous travelling, I will opt for the Auto. This I believe is a car to buy after you are certain who will perform the maintenance for it is not only the referred 2000 eur per year to run one, everything going good, but also the patience and time required to spend one or two days taking the car to the proper garage when attention is needed......

I had the open top version as my desktop background for _years_ while I was still in school (and it was still in production). Ahhh, good times.

All of these have been a daily evening treat. Please do more next year c:

FYI, Those boomerang lights became illegal in many countries such as Australia and the US. Existing models could stay, but no more new models. Cars like this usually go up in value over time.

I have one and love it, good review.

Great video thanks for making it. I have a 4200GT in manual and absolutely love it. NA V8 is a little more predictable, they are build a little better with (currently) more parts available.

I used to have a model of one these growing up and ever since then I’ve always thought it was beautiful, I think the grill proportions are great!

That green exteriour colour with red leather would be my dream combination! Great find.

It's not a car I'd invest my money in, but it's a car I'd love to keep forever. Maybe complemented by a Caterham-type flyweight, but the Biturbo I had was an awesome GT and this is just moar betterer in every way!

Always had a soft spot for these. I assume there are aftermarket suspension options to bring the ride and handling up to spec for that engine.

Love it! If I had the cash then I would! I used to own a Boxster S in blue with a manual gearbox but had to sell it and buy something sensible for work.

Great looking and sounding car. I've got the 4200. I envy of course, the boomerang rear lights, but not the intakes on the bonnet.

I like these. Proper Maserati biturbo power, but modern looks. However, a friend has one - it has proved to be a money pit. Spends more time in the workshop than on the road.

This is probably my favourite car of all those on this list. Achingly beautiful, those boomerang taillights are so much more inspired than those on the successor GT 4.2...but I've always known that 3.2 to be problematic, hence it was dropped towards the NA Ferrari-develloped 4.2.

Blame the American market for the demise of the rear lights. Apparently, or so the gossip goes, they couldn't get approval for them as 'people couldn't see them'

If I were younger and dafter,I would love to have a manual boomerang light 3200gt. 👍

I always said if I get tired of my BMW 635 I'd change it to an 3200 GT. It wont happen, but, It really interesting to see how prices fluctuate over the years. The 3200 would be my pick of all these cars !

Well, I vote for this one. 'Boomerang' taillights is an epic styling Cue. And if worst came to worst should You bag one less perfect (auto) I guess rebuilding it with a 6 speed Tremec or something would give so much bang for the bucks 🤩🎯 Excellent Vids btw. Way to go ❣️

Yes, I was lucky enough to have one, and at Bournemouth Airshow I was talking with a 'friend' who was trying to persuade me to get rid and get another Porsche. He was always into Porsche and couldn't afford one, so liked living his dreams through me. I just said, 'Why do I want a Porsche? I am happy driving my Maserati' An old lady ahead of me turned and the conversation went, 'You drive a Maserati?' 'Yes and I love it' 'You are a very lucky young man then' 'Yes, thank you' It made me happy that she was happy knowing someone still drove a Maserati and annoyed my 'friend' as it shot him down in flames.

The parts seem to be quite scarce, but the interior is beautiful, as are the handful of examples in yellow. It's a real head turner but I'm not sure if it's set to be a classic yet. Especially with the maintenance being a handful, even for a performance car, though a LOT better than the 4200. Cool, unique, left field choice.

Used cars are so cheap in the UK! And this is a particularly tempting one.

I had a 2001 metallic blue one with tan leather. By 2001 they had sorted out most of the problems. Awesome, scary at times, not always reliable, but fun. The throttle body was the main thing to get replaced if it's the original part. I paid 12 grand for mine back in 2011 and sold it years later at a profit. They are not that expensive to service and run actually. The main mechanical parts aren't too bad in terms of cost, but stupid stuff like electric window bits were silly money. Miss her :)

Giugiaro first offered the 3200 to Daewoo as a halo model, but the Korean co said no (obvs). And why no mention of the turbo V8’s, depending on your view, hilariously characterful / shockingly bad turbo lag?

I had a strange liking for these when I was 15 lol. The tailightd sold it for me. This is in that v8 vantage zone where you’re getting so much car because of the slept-on-ness of this car. Also, is that a honda civic type R wheel?

Most cars on this list have featured in episodes of wheeler dealers in the past! Not a bad thing as they now a bargain as well. 3200 lost it’s appeal when it lost it’s boomerang headlights. Seem to recall it was due to the american market not liking them.

Beautiful car although it's a pity that it came in British Racing Green!! An Italian car should be bright and flamboyant!

Always thought the Granturismo was beautiful, looks and sound department, just wonder about the reliability / cost of ownership. Don't see many of these around.

Those 32's are cool, although I missed the crazy lines of the Shamal and Ghibli from the 90's. The rear lights are still crazy and modern today.

I have a black with carbon 3200gt 6sp manual. Too bad clutching wears the crank bearings.

I was tempted, but the handling and gearbox put me off. I decided to go for a British Leyland built Rover P5B Coupe instead.

...and it's got proper rear seats. I would have liked to have seen a little bit more spirited driving.

I think there are far too many around yet for them to rise, The 3200 was always a rare car.

Giugiaro has done some great designs, and some lemons. Not too sure where the 3200 sits… The taillights are cool, the overall proportions are not very balanced I’m afraid

A super car but expect to empty your bank account when repairs are needed. Servicing can also be expensive as the drive belt needs to be replaced every 3 years.

Three to the gallon is a little bit too much to bear.

Just bought a 4200GT at auction. The reliability of the 3200 was a stretch in the potential servicing costs. Naturally aspirated 4.2 with Ferrari input to its technology was the main draw as The price for the 430 was out of my league but wanted to experience Italian V8 whilst the petrol prices, emissions and the anti car legislation still allow.

One of the hottest maserati bums ever in my opinion. almost a speedtaily back-end, with some very chique taillights.

Always had a soft spot for Maserati but, for similar money, I'd want the Quatroporte... which arguably sounds even cooler: Maseraaatiiii Quatropooorrteeey... :o)

Fuel consumption is very high on these around town - my 4200 Gransport (admittedly different engine, but probably not far off) is 19-26 litres per 100 km driven around town (depending on how much you use the right pedal) and on the highway about 12 litres per 100 km. Do I care? No, not at all. You don't drive these hundreds of thousands of km like a normal car, so fuel use at 5000-10,000km per year is just not a significant cost. If covering huge yearly distances and fuel cost is a concern, an electric or ordinary runabout are far better choices

Beautiful car, I heard on another video a while back that we lost those tails lights because Americans are simple ?

The gransport is a much better buy, better looks, engine, performance, sound , reliability and build quality...they will appreciate more than the 3200 in my opinion

Agree. I looked at 3200's and 4200's before I settled on my Gransport, and the gransport is just the ultimate evolution of these and combines all their best elements into the ultimate package - except for not being manual. Unfortunately the gransport never came in a manual. But the paddle shift is also fun (if takes a bit of getting used to) and having test driven 4200 manuals, the manuals in these were not the best feeling anyway... Nothing like a Ferrari gated manual, that's a far better gearbox feel

@@gooseturbo6087 I don't mind it at all...it lets you work a little and it's rewarding.... everyone shits on it because they compare it to today's technology so it's not really a fair comparison, for it's time it was great and I still like it

This car will keep your mechanic happy for as long as you own it.. I’m not sure why this is being pushed as a value car for the long term, they always find their home at workshops.

But what Mr Hagerty didn't say is that you can't buy the wishbones anymore for these cars

Maserati don't tell you, but the clutch need replacement every 7500 km. So yes, it's a "speciale" car.

Lol what? I have a 4200 Gransport and it needs replacement perhaps every 40,000 km (more if you install a formula dynamics drive by wire unit, then it can last perhaps 60,000) and that's the robotised manual - the manual 3200 will be even better than that driven normally You are absolutely talking out of your ass and have obviously not owned cars of this calibre

They literally use a lot of Bosch and Alfa parts, some parts are expensive but it's honestly similar to BMW or Merc In fact, in my experience, those are more costly
