    Did this for years too until one stripped. Used a C clamp and deep socket from then on and no more problems.

    I always used a bearing to tighten the lug nut up against to pull the stud in no problems ever

    For 90 you could have replaced all of them on that hub. If someone over torqued 1, they probably over torqued more than 1

    До поры довремени, хорошо если шпилька она не дорагая а если гайка сорвётся, специалный торцевой подшипник в качестве упора подкладывается и всё как по маслу

    @@user-pv4ep4dw3uуже лет 20 меняю так шпильки, в месяц около 3-6 штук, когда сезон переобуваться приезжают по 20-30 машин за месяц, проблем не было ни разу, а так вам на будущее, если не знаете момент затяжки, то берем диаметр минус шаг резьбы, тоесть тут шпилька 12 мм и шаг 1.5 и того 100% она выдержит 10.5 кг но запрессовка происходит по усилии затяжки около 4-5 кг и того 5-6 кг еще в запасе(не путайте усилие затяжки с усилием запресовки)

    ive only ever done this till a snapon truck pulled up and the guy seen what i was doing and said "hey i have a tool for that" i checked it out and so much better its crazy how many different tools was made to solve a problem that was allready solved by a shade tree mechanic

    Always check if wheel nuts should be oiled and then always torque to spec. You’ll never break another stud again.

    ...depending on the length of the stud and the space between the hub plate and backing plate. It is easy on my wife's car but I have to pull the hub a bit for my car.

    Unfortunately, it is a mistake. You should tighten the screw by hand so as not to damage the teeth of the screw file. It is better to use the correct tool.

    This is a quick field fix that likely will never be a problem. No sense in pulling hub to press out/in a stud. There is a nifty tapered bearing tool that does not hurt the threads or the taper on the nut.

    You never press in or out a stud dumbass. Theirs a special tool they make , to put on the stud, then the lug nut and impact it through..

    Old school... (Like me...) I've had to do this a couple of times myself. On some new cars, you have to open the diff and pull the axle just to replace the stud...! (Damn those design engineers...)

    That hub is made to withstand shock loading forces from road imperfections , a little hammer tapping won't warp it.

    Working on a lady's Camry and she said there was a knock coming from the front end so she kept having her husband tighten the lugs thinking it was a loose rim. By the time I got a hold of it, he had made all the lug nuts jump thread. Broke 8 out of 10 studs taking them off. Ugh. Ball joints were the issue...

    I ended up rounding my hub with this technique. Had to go to the wrecking yard to get another used hub, take out the studs and do this with a loaned tool that does the job correctly with no rotation to the stud. It was a nightmare 😭😭

    That works well most of the time. Not the correct way though. It puts unnecessary strain on the studs. Pressing it in removes all the stress.

    That's how it's done except turn your lug nut around. That bevel is on there for a reason, and if you screw it up, it won't seat in the rim correctly, speaking from experience

    That's how my mechanic uncle taught me in about 1978 when I did this job on my mother's station wagon. I used the same method on my travel trailer about a year ago.

    Done 100s. Never stripped a one. I woild put a little grease between the big nut and the lug. Tightens easier.

    Not all have the same spine count. Don't assume it was an oem unit. Aftermarket versions may differ from oem. Ask me how I know.

    If you're replacing 1 you might as well replace them all... if you're replacing them all you might as well replace the hub... if you're replacing the hub you might as well replace the CV... if your replacing the CV you might as well replace the transmission.... if you're replacing the transmission you might as well replace the engine.... if you're replacing the engine you might as well replace the car...

    Never use a nut. The best for this method is a bearing, because it spins and no friction on the two nuts.

    Nut is fine. I've done this so many times with zero issue. Just use a scrap lugnut so you don't damage the cone on the one going back on the vehicle.

    If I replace one stud, I replace all on that wheel, because the others may have been unevenly stressed. Some guys might not feel it necessary but that's just my thing.

    Yep, you can clearly see he buggered the threads. Always use a breaker bar to do this job, the air gun will always mess up the threads.

    You should of replaced the rest of those studs I hope you gave them all new studs and lugnuts. If you look carefully you will see the threads are pulled foward rather than standing up they are compromised from being over tightened. They are a issue waiting to happen. God forbid you be the last one to work on it if that tire would come off they would be coming after you I know someone who ended up in prison for tires coming off

    Better use chisel to knock that out , you can feel vibration and tyre wear while drive Never use hammer on hub
