The only performance to get a standing ovation that night 😭😍 Mariah was supposed to open the show but Madonna had a fit so they switched their time slots. Randy Jackson has been working with Mariah since her debut, he was heavily involved with The Emancipation of Mimi and the Adventures of Mimi Tour. They’re great friends who have untouchable skills in the music industry.

Fun fact this performance was the only performance that got a STANDING OVATION that night💜and Another fun fact is that Mary J was backstage watching Mariah perform and was fangirling over her whistles😂😍And the fact that Mariah only have 5 Grammies compared to Beyoncé 28 Grammies,Taylor swift 19 Grammies is unacceptable 😪 and yes RANDY JACKSON is behind there

Butterfly was her first album after her controlling marriage with Tommy mattola where she was able to have total freedom with the sound, production and her image...so it’s very near and dear to her heart (and ours) And Randy Jackson has been her bass player since the 90s lol

The butterfly ring was actually a gift from someone close to her i believe and she has always had that ring for years and years, when she was with Tommy Mottola (which was her abusive ex husband in the 90s for 10 years) and she was finally leaving him so she was moving out and finally becoming free and when she was she had saw a Butterfly card on this gift her friend gave her and took it as a sign that she was free!! And she just always loved them! 🥰🦋🦋🐑✨

@@TheCottons Butterflies have always been of huge significance to her even before the 'Butterfly' album dropped. Another story Mariah has shared - after Mariah and Tommy's mansion somehow burned down after their divorce, she went back to retrieve whatever things she could. The only thing salvageable was a fireplace mantle which had a butterfly carved into it. As she turned to ask it'd be saved for her, a monarch butterfly fluttered passed her. Additionally, on her album 'Daydream' there is a song titled "I Am Free." She sings about her love for God and His love for her giving her the strength to break away from the marriage. On the bridge she sings "Free to live, free to laugh, free to soar, free to shine, free to give, free to love......Free enough to fly." God is beautiful.

Guys! We lambs knew about Randy Jackson nearly a decade before he became popular because he was Mariah's bass player and producer. He had a long career as a musician before American Idol. I think L.A. Reid gave Mariah her first butterfly ring in 2002. The pastor there is Rev Clarence Keaton, who passed away some years ago, leader of the True Worship church that Mariah Attended. Mariah's nana Reese (on her father's side) was an evangelist and when Mariah was 3 years old and there was a lot of drama at home, she kinda prophesized Mariah that all her dreams would come true, that is why Mariah has so much faith and thanks God first and foremost for all her blessings (eventhough her dad was an atheist). One of the main reasons I follow MCis because of her faith in God and in herself.

The ring represents her Freedom from her past. Her Butterfly album was also the first album she expressed herself to the fullest. She also had a record label called Monarch records.

If you listen to the lyrics to her song Buttefly which she wrote. it will tell you the story of her leaving her abusive husband. Released from her cocoon, spreaded her wings and now she’s a butterfly. 🥺

the first time i discovered mariah's music way back when i was in grade school in 96.... i was so addicted to her music i started buying her records... i'm telling you discovering her music is like finding a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow it was insane and unbelievable... mariah will always be part of my life....

She has an album "Butterfly" which was released after she separated from the devil (a.k.a her ex husband Tommy Motolla), and she was finally able to be herself and be free in that era onward (Tommy controlled Mariah's every move personally and professionally --read or listen to the audiobook "The meaning of Mariah Carey it's incredible)....from then on the butterfly became synonymous with "Freed Mariah". Please do Mariah: Melt away Underneath the Stars (Tokyo Dome) Endless love (Luther Vandross ft Mc) Slipping away I'll be there (Love from Top of the Pops) P.s Randy played Bass for Mariah for several years.

A couple of my top LIVE performances are; the 1992 Grammy performance of "If It's Over.." and Patti Labelle tribute, Mariah sang a medley of "If Only You Knew" and "Somewhere Over The Rainbow." Trust me, you'll love it....

Randy has been with Mariah since her first album and has been her musical director on and off for years. To this day he still plays bass on Mariah’s big high profile performances.

She has an album called Butterfly and a song called Butterfly. Eversince releasing that album the butterfly symbol has become her signature insect LOL.

Ah the emancipation of mimi era. One of the best music eras in music history. Emancipation got me through middle school. That album was a pure masterpiece. Favorite songs from that album you gotta check out: stay the night, circles, and mine again Grammys did her so wrong when it came to this album.

This imo was her best performance of This song. I watch it often still 😄 I'm a Lamb😋🦋 For life. Gives me chills everytime.

I like to think that when she performs Fly like a Bird (Grammy winning song) right before the choir emerges she closes her ayes and makes a little prayer saying "Dera Los Jesus, be ready cause I'm about to transport this entire crowd into your presence." and boy she delivered. After her standing ovation Terri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives) came out with Michael Bible they were presenting the next award but before she started she said" It's like we have all been saved" This was the only performance of the night that got a standing ovation and some of the artists performing were Kelly Clarkson, Madonna and U2. The Emancipation of Mimi was the biggest selling album in the US for 2005 and the 2nd biggest worldwide, it received 11 Grammy nominations however they were given to her off camera (Grammy's always snubbing, she has been nominated 34 times and only 5 Grammy's she's received and only one of those was in camera) Record of the year award for that year was given to U2 for How to dismantle an atomic bomb, however when they announced it they started playing We belong together and Bono said on stage (Mariah, you sing like an Angel, really something else) . Long live the Queen of Music. A celebrity to celebrities, the woman every female artist aspires to become. Fun facts: 1. She is a Christian and has a very strong faith and that's why usually the last song of her albums is gospel or at least you know that one song is referencing God as hes stregh (Hero, Heavenly, Fly like a Bird, Visión of Love and My saving grace) 2. Most people think her first single ever Visión of Love is a love song but it's far from that is a gospel song desidacted to God (I feel so alive, I'm so thankful that I received the answer that heaven has sent down to me. You treated me kind, sweet destiny and I'll be eternally grateful, holding you so close to me. PRayed through the nights so faithfully knowing the one that I'm needing will find me eventually. I had a Vision of love and it was that you've given to me) 3. On her 2008 album E=MC2 from from where Touch my body come from, she wrote a song for a broken heart referencing mostly Bible passages, is not gospel, as a matter fact is a bit a vindictive. (I know you've been there for me plenty Maybe still got love for me But let him without sin cast the first stone brethren But who remains standing then Not you not I see Philippians 4:9 (Put it into practice)) It's an interesting song, a huge vocal performance and original Songwriting skill, check it out.
