Talking about whistle flexing, I think "The One" is already one of the most badass live performances by her.

There's a video called "Mariah Carey the empress of the whistle register" it shows you why she's one of the greatest of all time when it comes to that register. A really good video.

Mariah writes all of her songs except for cover songs of other artists. This is Mariah's song she wrote. Babyface has produced some of Mariah's songs but I don't think he produced this one. I can't blame you for thinking that. It does sound like a Babyface type record.

I agree with the magic of music of that era! It’s a journey, a story, they made you FEEL every kind of emotions from the beginning, then the tense bridge and the resolution. Music now a days is empty, no feeling. I will always stay listening to 90s 2000s music

Yees guys is incredible how she can produce those sounds in whistles, she write and produce almost all her songs, Walter co-produce it.

Love the new set up/background it’s fire. Also the camera quality I noticed looks clearer 🔥. PS you’re semi right about Teddy Riley producing it because Can’t Let Go (1991) actually samples Kieth Sweat’s 1987 classic called Make it Last Forever, which was produced by Teddy Riley. The production isn’t 100% the same, but you can definitely hear key aspects from the original, especially in the intro. Fun fact Mariah sampled this song twice. Once in 1991 for Can’t Let Go and again in 1999 for her Thank God I Found You Remix with Joe and Nas. I recommend listening it’s a great Rnb track

Walter Afanassief is also the man responsible for producing that famous Christmas original that Mariah wrote: All I Want For Christmas is You, among other songs he produced w/ Mariah in the early 90’s

DUDE Walter Afanassief was MC's writing partner. They wrote Hero, All I want for Christmas is You, Butterfly, My All, Anytime you need a friend, etc. He was huge in the 90s. He also co-wrote the song Beauty and the Beast, Alladin, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, the Celine Dion and Barbra Streissand duet,Tell him, among others.

Why don’t people think of Mariah as a songwriter and producer? Out of her 19 number one hits, she’s written 16 of them, a record among female artist. The woman wrote and produced her entire first album and she’s recently been inducted into the Songwriters Hall Of Fame!

this album was her start as an official producer! she never knew that what she did with her demo tapes and stuff was producing so she was never credited in that in her past album, and this time, she made sure the producer bag is hers! walter is a coproducer that mariah worked a LOT with in her eras where he was still in the label but he decided to stay with the label instead of going with mariah and making more classics. wish they stayed, but if he did stay, we may not even have the we belong together we have today

Walter affanasieff has produced some of the biggest hits of the 80s, 90s and 2000s including Mariah Carey, Celine dion, Whitney, Aretha and HE IS BRAZILIAN born of Russian descent. A lot of Russians have migrated to Brazil in the 1800s anyway

Mariah is not good at instruments so she needed a musician to translate her compositions into actual music sheets. Walter’s involvement is kind of like that. He may have contributed 5-10% of the music. That’s why MC doesn’t like the fact that 50% of the writing credits of All I Want For Christmas Is You goes to Walter A. She knows the truth … that’s why. He benefits greatly financially with this single song. Set him and his family for life.
