In 1984 I was introduced the cocaine in Miami Florida Richmond Heights exactly in 1985 I started smoking crack I stayed on crack for 8 years in 1992 I got on a Greyhound bus with all my belonging in one garbage bag and came to Thomasville Georgia and went to rehab not knowing god was setting me up to get my life together I went in for a 7-Day Detox I got a 5-day extension so that made 11 days I signed up for 28 day stay I took my recovery very serious this song came out while I was in rehab and it was a driving force just perfect for my situation and it drove me to stay clean and sober it's been 28 years as of March 11th 20/20 thank you Jesus thanks Mariah for the song I still shed tears when I think of this song

I was having one of the hardest days of my life, I had no idea what was going to happen to me and my anxiety was at an all time high. I 1000% believe God/The Universe sent me this song as a sign to stay strong and remain faithful. Yes she’s a true woman that’s why I like her. They hate her for being girly girl and stuff but nah. She was in the trenches a lot of these other women didn’t come from that. Some of them came from middle class or working class backgrounds. Her, tina Turner, etc. it’s more I can’t name they came up through form tough childhoods. They’re grinders and I respect that when you come from nothing to begin a millionaire and have an amazing wealth.

Ex heroine, Crystal meth, rocks and alcohol addict... Our house burned December 2022 bieng on methodome and suffering from methodome and heroin withdrawals.. I couldn't desert my family... I struggled and prayed and through sponsors.. Bieng weak I helped rebuild our home.. Came out of rehab... The rehab was a torture chamber where they would shock, chain and abuse the patients... God got me of that rehab after a full year, today I'm clean and sober.. Greatful to Jesus that I'm alive and healthy.. Iv been sober out of the rehab a short while now... This song inspires me and serves as a reminder of how far I have come... Only God who believed I could take it and make it got me through this... I just love this song of mariah carey

I listened to this song every day when I was hospitalized in a psychiatric hospital, I stayed there for two months because of heavy childhood traumas which resurfaced, I went through an episode of acute depression with symptoms of mental disorder. the abandoned personality following the death of my father, but after a few weeks I forbade myself to let myself rot! and I started a powerful rise and this MC song helped me! and I sing it very well! 😊

I just read her memoir, her life sfory is incredible. At a young age she alreasy had a vision to escape her toxic environment and she did. She is still one of the few artists of her time that survived

This is my 2nd favorite from the album "Emotions", obviously the title song is my favorite. I love her voice and these lyrics. This is definitely not the only spiritual song she has ever recorded. "Vision of Love", "Fly Like a Bird", "Can't Take that Away", and even "Thank God I Found You" are some songs she talks to God or about God. Just some of those examples. The media tries to make her look very bad but the fact is that she has lots of sense of humor, she believes in God. And she has encountered some problems but I guess we all do, at least I have had so many obstacles and worries here. This song is one of those Mariah's anthem which makes me carry on. And "Emotions" is one of the best albums in her amazing discography.

OMG! Wow, 20+ years ago when I was a single parent teen mom, a high school drop out on welfare and food stamps working a $4.25 per hour job (yes that was minimum wage back then) as a cashier in a fast food joint, and living in government housing, I used to listen to this song religiously because I didn’t like my plot in life. This woman’s powerful words and resounding voice and the fitting music of this song used to make tears swell up in my eyes, but bring me great joy because it help me to know I could make it. Mariah allowed me to vicariously live through her when I listen to this song cuz I would have glimpses of the future I so much wanted to create for myself and my child.... I haven’t heard this song in a while and As I listen to it today, I’m still in tears examining how my life has changed drastically since I first heard this song. I mean my life is unrecognizable having gone from GED to a Master Degree, to now owning a few properties, to having a great 15 year career in higher ed to leaving my job to now run an almost million dollar a year business working to help the same community that I come from is a big deal. It’s song like this that help me to remember how far I’ve come. I have to give thanks to the Creator/Creatress for blessing me tremendously with powerful, inspirational, soul stirring songs like this that I continuously fed my spirit in order to gain the energy, strength, focus, determination and will to change the dire impoverished circumstances that I was born into to the comfort life I live now. Thank you so much Mariah for giving us such great music to lift to back in the day! This song is indeed the sound track of my life for so many reasons it would take too long to disclose. So glad I found this song here cuz I’m reconnecting with it to fulfill the next chapter of my journey here.

None of her songs had cussing until Caution album, her 15th and last album, but yeah overall she definitely has class and standards.

I was homeless once. Many years I was homeless after living in a shelter after shelter. But I knew God was on my side after struggle and struggle. Then I found a housing program that helped me find my place and paid my rent and utilities five years of living here. I did not have to pay a dime to keep my place which is my home after five years. And they still are helping me. Five years! That is no one but God and when I hear this song...it makes me cry and thank God everyday! My mom is watching over me too! God bless her soul. 🙏🙏🙏
