@@AnnSueScholtz Well, there are factors that lead to their voice deteriorating at different rates (e.g., improper technique, overuse, vocal demands for songs, intensity of drug/alcohol usage, and most importantly, condition/strength of voice components which factors into how much the voice can endure when singing). Also, Whitney started her career earlier and performed many more concerts than Mariah, and Mariah's voice may be lighter and not strong as Whitney's. I am not going to speak on substance abuse.

@@DECEPTIONINDICATED - Ariana is good for her generation but she doesnt have as strong or full bodied of a voice as Mariah. Mariah has or had the full spectrum from bottom to middle to the very top. Arianas voice is mostly at the top and cant go as low. Mariah had the most options w her voice more than any other singer. Plus Ariana sounds like a little girl at times. Just never understood that comparison.

Your music was more than just music Mariah, you know that? Maybe this will get lost amid all of the other comments but your work was more than just music to many of us. It was immortal memories from what was an amazing period of time for many of us.

Props to Mariah Carey for her immaculate talent in providing background vocals herself, her layering affect, that one notices on the many relistenings of masterpieces like this. Her producer credits are not talked enough about. Songwriter, lead singer, background singer, layering, producer! The real deal baby. She's an absolute talent that is not recognised enough, it blows my mind.

***** that album was actually one of her bests, tbqh. Personally, it helped me get through a lot of problems I thought were inescapable. Song like Petals and Can't Take That Away are close to many because it's easy to connect to. Not to mention the flawless Crybaby. But to each his own, I guess.

This song is when I fell in love with Mariah, I was 12 years old when she hit the scene . She came out with her self titled debut album in 1990 , then came out with Emotions in 1991 and this is the song that made me a Fan . I use to be like” Wow that Lady can really sing”. Anyway I ended up naming my First daughter after her , she passed away in 2006 at 7 years old. I love Mariah BOTH of them.❤️
