Even today it still has a futuristic sound. It always reminds me of the scene in Terminator where they're in the club Tech Noir (even though it wasn't played in that movie).

Timeless classic right here. Remember being a youngster jamming to miss Chaka. Now at 53 I love this masterpiece as much if not more then I did back then. Her voice still reminds me of Tina every time it pops up on my Playlist. Wonder if she is still alive today. Love ya Chaka thanks for all the memories.

@Ronald W You're right. Riaa's site is inaccurate. They don't tally up the actual sales when they're giving total career sales. Prior to 1978 ( I believe) Gold certification really meant 1 million records sold. They're site doesn't list that. And I know for a fact that when Rufus and Chaka did Anerican Bandstand in 1980, Dick Clark held up a platinum ALBUM and SINGLE for Masterjam and Do You Love What You Feel before he introduced them. But that's not even on there.

Yes, and despite the honor being so late, at least they're doing something different in that they're inducting Chaka via a Musical Excellence Award. That's distinct...and deserving, given that she contributes so much to music, as you know...from funk to jazz to R&B and so on (plus, writing or co-writing some of her music, "You Got the Love," "Sweet Thing," etc.).

Between 1978-1983, Chaka alternated between her solo career and performing with Rufus. This was their final hit together, in 1983. Everything she's done since has been all Chaka, without the band.
