Anthony, great ear! If you listen to the album version of "Can't Let Go" you definitely hear very similar chord progressions to "Make It Last Forever". FYI - Mariah released a song with Joe & 98 Degrees called "Thank God I Found You". It is not my favorite particularly; however, she released a remix to it called the "Make It Last Remix" and she did it with Joe & Nas. I prefer the remix to the original on this song and it is definitely an ode to the original "Make It Last Forever" with Keith Sweat & Jacci McGhee. She and Joe even sing some of the original lyrics of Sweat's "Make It Last Forever". Definitely check it out!

They didn’t sample “Make It lAst Forever.” If they did, they would have to credit Teddy and pay royalties. Those chords played in the beginning are common cords in pop and r&b music at the time. Taylor Dayne’s “Love Will Lead You Back” uses the same cords and one of Lionel Richies songs in the 80s. Mariah and Walter where sued by a group because of the same cord usage on a song called “right before your eyes.” They settled out of court, but technically, Lionel could have sued all of them since his song came out in the 80s.

yup, she wrote it. also it was stuck at #2…behind her version of “I’ll be There,” from this Unplugged. Bittersweet because this song should’ve been a straight up #1!!!

Unplugged takes off, IBT is all over the place (6th #1!!) and then stop promoting Emotions. No wonder why she was seeking Emancipation! lol

The way she easily slid into the most beautiful whistle at the end ❗️and people still tries to say Mariah was never a good singer live 💯this woman literally have one competition and that was the late Whitney ‼️
