Not to mention the fact that Aerosmith could have easily been in their place. They refused to use that very same plane for their own tour and Lynyrd Skynrd decided to use it instead, even when they had bad feelings about the old plane themselves. They were planning a replacement after that very tragic trip and that is the sick irony of the whole thing.

Skynyrd was actually on a sort of resurgence after the release of Street Survivors which showcased Steve Gaines taking over from original guitarist and founding member Ed King. They skyrocketed onto the scene 3 years earlier with “Sweet Home Alabama”, “Freebird”, etc. So they were pretty huge from about ‘74 on.

They have a song called "every mother's son" you might like. The thing about Ronnie Van Zant I find most amazing is that he never wrote down the lyrics to any of his songs it was all in his head 🤯 he said "if you have to write it down to remember it.... It ain't worth remembering" " That Smell" is a must hear from them ✌️♥️

I’m so sorry for your early losses. My dad passed in 2012, but my 90 year old mom is still here. I’ve been sick lately with pneumonia and have started thinking about the future. When the supreme being taps us on the shoulder and whispers in our ear that our eternal vacation has come, what’s the value of all this “stuff” we’ve all strived for all our lives? Is it going into the box with us? I’ve started reevaluating what’s really important versus materialistic “things.”

Illume, I am so sorry to hear about your parents. I related so much to your story as I was very young like you when I lost both of my parents. I also lost both of my brothers within four months of each other several years ago. I feel like my life would have been very different by having them teach and encourage me along the way. It certainly makes us stronger but I would rather have had them guide me along and share life's journeys. My best goes out to you. This song makes me sad too.💔

"What she gonna say"? She is going to show him the path to a long and beautiful life filled with all the love, joy, and hope he could ever imagine... because that is the only thing we mothers wish for our sons. That's what she is going to say. I want you to know how much I appreciate and enjoy your insight and thoughts about your parents after the song. Very wise and beautiful judgment, you have. If you could ever really know exactly how much your parents love you, it would probably kill you. It is that profound. When you have children you will know then. Just be a "simple kind of man" and enjoy all the beauty that comes from that.

I keep my children surrounded by Classic Rock and Country, from infancy on, to keep the bad influences out. I made it a point to play this every time my son and I were alone. Music is a teaching tool for children, more than you realize. Sub’d....Thanks Guys!

@BroAction- This is what you call: “SOUTHERN ROCK”. Born and bred in the southern parts of the United States (like me❣️😊) Even within the genre of Rock music, there are sub-genres and this is one of them; SOUTHERN. “GRUNGE” or later known as:”ALTERNATIVE” ROCK are bands like: Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam. “HEAVY METAL”ROCK is a diff genre and so on. I’m not sure what Led Zep , Pink Floyd, Yes, Van Halen, or Rush would be considered--To me: they’re just (regular/ standard) ROCK&ROLL. 🤷🏻‍♀️ * Fun Note- U.S doesn’t have any such thing as “NORTHERN” Rock- just southern!

Yes is considered progressive rock, as is Rush, usually, after their first few albums. Van Halen I think is close to pseudo metal rock. Pink Floyd is kind of its own genre..and Zeppelin: Well, some try to wedge it into blues rock because that’s how they started, but they also did folk rock, ballads and even some progressive and funk....so they were a cross-genre band. Rock and Roll is something else....it’s mainly concerned with BEAT and is more to dance to. An excellent example of a true rock and roll band that you just have to MOVE to when you hear it is AC/DC. No complex lyrics or complex rhythms or meter changes...just a strong beat that’s irresistible...

@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 Yeah, like Elvis Presley was an ORIGINAL “Rock n Roll artist even though he had a lot of bluesy and Gospel background in it. I was thinking after my post that I should have said that Yes, Rush, Pink Floyd, and Led Zep were HARD Rock --- Megadeath, Disturbed, etc. are HEAVY METAL Rock--- and Van Halen, Sammy Haggard , Def Leppard, The Who, and MAYBE/sorta The Cars(??) would be considered to be just “Regular ROCK N’ ROLL” . However, I TOTALLY LOVVVVED your breakdown (and AGREE) because yours is more precise than mine. I think we can both agree that it could get REAL easy to get even more precise than that pretty quickly, and to the point where we could even be putting lots of these into their OWN sub-genres 🙃😛🤘🏻 REEALLY appreciated your input. THANKS.😊
