Skynard was just becoming huge when their plane crashed and killed so many people. It was horrible. My uncle was devastated
@robr135
3 жыл бұрын
Not to mention the fact that Aerosmith could have easily been in their place. They refused to use that very same plane for their own tour and Lynyrd Skynrd decided to use it instead, even when they had bad feelings about the old plane themselves. They were planning a replacement after that very tragic trip and that is the sick irony of the whole thing.

Skynyrd was actually on a sort of resurgence after the release of Street Survivors which showcased Steve Gaines taking over from original guitarist and founding member Ed King. They skyrocketed onto the scene 3 years earlier with “Sweet Home Alabama”, “Freebird”, etc. So they were pretty huge from about ‘74 on.
Good band...really good people! When my niece's husband was dying of Leukemia in their hometown, one of the Van Zants, simply knowing my niece from the local bank, donated a signed guitar for a raffle to raise money for his medical care.

I know what you mean.I lost my father many years ago.I watched my husband take his last breath I held my sister in my arms when she passed because I promised her I wouldn't let her die alone and I have lost 2 friends in the last year.I am my 75 year old mother's sole caregiver and everyone doesn't think to love them now because they won't be here forever

@Buddy Wiser when people get sick, the dwell on being "terminally ill"not realizing we spend our entire life on this earth terminally ill.Life itself is in fact a terminal illness. For those who believe in purgatory,it's where we are now. What we do here determines where we go later.
Loving mothers just want what is best for their sons! Love and happiness for their lives.
Tuesday’s Gone 😍😎
Such a great reaction! I can tell you both were raised with love and kindness. Shout out to your parents. 💜

T for Texas, I Need You, Travellin’ Man. Underrated but AMAZING.
This is my anthem to my son.
I get goosebumps every time I hear this song! I'm so glad you guys finally heard it!
They have a song called "every mother's son" you might like. The thing about Ronnie Van Zant I find most amazing is that he never wrote down the lyrics to any of his songs it was all in his head 🤯 he said "if you have to write it down to remember it.... It ain't worth remembering" " That Smell" is a must hear from them ✌️♥️
Shinedown - "Simple Man". It's a cover of this song and you'll be blown away!!!! =)

The Ballad Of Curtis Lowe is a must.
My favorite song which I sang at my brother's funeral this past June 2020. It's so beautiful. Thank you for your reaction. Lynyrd Skynyrd is from here where I live in Jacksonville FLORIDA!
4 words - "Call Me the Breeze" and best live performance is at Old Gray Whiskey '75
Here I am a 60 yr old Canadian woman listening to you guys every night. I send this song to my two boys (you remind me of them) on mother's Day every year. Loved, loved, loved this reaction.
I send this song to my 30 year old son at least 3 times a year. ❤✌
My boys still tell me this is like me talking to them when they were little. This song is perfect.
I lived in Jacksonville Florida and my uncle was a local musician. He knew all of the guys from Skynard and .38 Special.

This song always breaks my heart. My mom passed on her 50th birthday when I was 21, and my dad passed at 57, when I was 28. I have always believed there was more I could have learned from them. Daddy passed in 1988, 33 years ago. I have lived more of my life without either of my parents than with.

I’m so sorry for your early losses. My dad passed in 2012, but my 90 year old mom is still here. I’ve been sick lately with pneumonia and have started thinking about the future. When the supreme being taps us on the shoulder and whispers in our ear that our eternal vacation has come, what’s the value of all this “stuff” we’ve all strived for all our lives? Is it going into the box with us? I’ve started reevaluating what’s really important versus materialistic “things.”

Illume, I am so sorry to hear about your parents. I related so much to your story as I was very young like you when I lost both of my parents. I also lost both of my brothers within four months of each other several years ago. I feel like my life would have been very different by having them teach and encourage me along the way. It certainly makes us stronger but I would rather have had them guide me along and share life's journeys. My best goes out to you. This song makes me sad too.💔
My only Son had this sung to him all his life by me. And it will be played for him at my funeral. That's how much I believe in this code of life.
My husband’s mother knew when she was dying so she got to choose the music for her funeral. She chose this song for him, her only son. For Christmas I got him an enormous framed piece of art with all the lyrics of this song written in the shape of a heart.
i am surprised you have not found the Allman Brothers, another Southern Rock staple.."Whipping Post" is a good start
Cherish ever day, we are not promised the next moment. No matter what family member I was talking/arguing with that last words we ended with was I Love You (Thank GOD for that wisdom)
This song was inspired by the death of Ronnie Van Zant's grandmother. The guitar solo is performed by Gary Rossington, the sole constant member of Lynyrd Skynyrd. the writer of this song is Gary Rossington And Ron Van Zant
Lynyrd Skynyrd! What a band! These guys were hitting it big until they unfortunately had a plane crash in which three of the members died. They were so good that they were cursed, is the word.
"On The Hunt" is an awesome Tune

I dedicate this song to my son Benny! Mom’s advice is so important!! I love that he respects me and loves me, because he knows I respect and love him! Thanks guys!
Wow am I the only only that gets goosebumbs all over when I listen to this, and my heart screams of joy, like YES! THIS! Fuck all the media bullshit and the polarizing nonsense that is continually pounded into our heads daily, and just follow THIS! Be a Simple kind of man. Something you can love and understand!
Every mother that has a son should dedicate this song to him.
"I Know A Little", you won't be sorry.
In high school we used to have small parties with just us close friends. And we would listen to Skynyrd all night and we did this for many years! So Skynyrd gives me some special memories.
From a mom's point of view toward my own son, this song just makes me melancholy because I lost my son 5 years ago when he was still a young man of 31. I miss him every single day. RIP Daniel, March 1984-- September 2015.
Both my parents are gone. When they passed away, I felt like an orphan. Treasure them.

Maybe you guys don’t realize it but you have already learned very important life lessons from your parents. You’ve learned the lesson of appreciation and love and what’s really important in life. Watching you absorb the meaning of this song and talk about it so openly and honestly was a true joy. Yes the music and the writing is outstanding but you saw past just that. You got it. I think your parents must be very proud.

Great reaction guys, the song obviously means a lot to you - that's so good. My parents are no longer here but I learnt so much from them and I never forget the values of life they passed onto me.

My favorite band EVER!!
Great channel, love to see how much joy you get from great 70's and 80's music.
I still get chills...
Saturday night special my favourite start to any track, amazing
The guitar work in That Smell is amazing
"What she gonna say"? She is going to show him the path to a long and beautiful life filled with all the love, joy, and hope he could ever imagine... because that is the only thing we mothers wish for our sons. That's what she is going to say. I want you to know how much I appreciate and enjoy your insight and thoughts about your parents after the song. Very wise and beautiful judgment, you have. If you could ever really know exactly how much your parents love you, it would probably kill you. It is that profound. When you have children you will know then. Just be a "simple kind of man" and enjoy all the beauty that comes from that.
Bravo guys!! Awesome song, band, tragic history sadly. Your commentary is spot on.
I used to sing this to my son as a lullaby while I rocked him to sleep.... fyi- the video enhances all the feelings you were expressing; especially when the guitar solo starts 😉 its epic
I'm surprised these guys still have strong accents because they catch every single word of the song. I don't know how long they've been in the States, but their mastery of English is impressive.

@BroAction- This is what you call: “SOUTHERN ROCK”. Born and bred in the southern parts of the United States (like me❣️😊) Even within the genre of Rock music, there are sub-genres and this is one of them; SOUTHERN. “GRUNGE” or later known as:”ALTERNATIVE” ROCK are bands like: Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Pearl Jam. “HEAVY METAL”ROCK is a diff genre and so on. I’m not sure what Led Zep , Pink Floyd, Yes, Van Halen, or Rush would be considered--To me: they’re just (regular/ standard) ROCK&ROLL. 🤷🏻♀️ * Fun Note- U.S doesn’t have any such thing as “NORTHERN” Rock- just southern!

Yes is considered progressive rock, as is Rush, usually, after their first few albums. Van Halen I think is close to pseudo metal rock. Pink Floyd is kind of its own genre..and Zeppelin: Well, some try to wedge it into blues rock because that’s how they started, but they also did folk rock, ballads and even some progressive and funk....so they were a cross-genre band. Rock and Roll is something else....it’s mainly concerned with BEAT and is more to dance to. An excellent example of a true rock and roll band that you just have to MOVE to when you hear it is AC/DC. No complex lyrics or complex rhythms or meter changes...just a strong beat that’s irresistible...

@@w.geoffreyspaulding6588 Yeah, like Elvis Presley was an ORIGINAL “Rock n Roll artist even though he had a lot of bluesy and Gospel background in it. I was thinking after my post that I should have said that Yes, Rush, Pink Floyd, and Led Zep were HARD Rock --- Megadeath, Disturbed, etc. are HEAVY METAL Rock--- and Van Halen, Sammy Haggard , Def Leppard, The Who, and MAYBE/sorta The Cars(??) would be considered to be just “Regular ROCK N’ ROLL” . However, I TOTALLY LOVVVVED your breakdown (and AGREE) because yours is more precise than mine. I think we can both agree that it could get REAL easy to get even more precise than that pretty quickly, and to the point where we could even be putting lots of these into their OWN sub-genres 🙃😛🤘🏻 REEALLY appreciated your input. THANKS.😊
