Angel Reese's trash talk last year was the best thing to happen to womens basketball. Speaking as a former D1 women’s athlete I can attest to the fact that the hate from fans is crazy. If you beat their team they do threaten you. The death threats come as well. When it comes to Angel she did what she had to do to secure her financial future. I hope all athletes are making the most out of this opportunity. Angel is a national champion who was herself the entire time. She is able to stay in college longer because she is able to make money. The same goes for the other student athletes. If you haven’t been in their shoes watch what you say. Fans should be just that. Cheer for your teams and when the game is over let it be that. Not having ill will towards anyone because everyone works their butts off to get to that level. Clark (like other players of their caliber) trash talked and did things that made you scratch your heads. Support these your women.

Trash talk has been a thing and been part of sports for years…..anyone who truly wants to complain about it must be new to the world of sports. It is never anything personal, it’s all business. People need to recognize that the sports industry online is all about making money on their athletes, and gaining more views for their games to grow the sports industry. Trash talk is part of that because it’s for entertainment purposes ti Keri the games interesting and clearly it’s been working because that LSU versus Iowa game was the most watched game all together…..If ESPN felt that trash talk wasn’t okay, don’t you think they would’ve made a statement about it a long time ago? They obviously want it to happen.

Fact: Mentally, Emotionally, Spiritually and yes even Physically- Human beings are not built for being villianized or Hero-nized. Put up on a pedestal as the absolute best of the best or worst of the worst, by millions of other people. Inside of them, it will take its toll on the individual. Both Angel and Caitlyn will feel it. One way or another they will need to be rebuilt up in how to cope with the demands imposed on them. Last year when Angel was at the top and she was raging against so much hatred from social media like she was going to take on the entire world, I thought to myself: "girl put down that phone and stay off of it for awhile. Nothing good will come of you trying to convince the haters hiding behind their cell phones fighting you!" And now she is in a low sunken place reflecting on all the hatred and racism she has recieved. But make no mistake, Caitlyn will also recieve her share of it as well. Hoping she ignores it as Angel failed too. Its just an unfortunate aspect of being in the position they are in.

Angel Reese is bringing much needed attention to women’s basketball. She’s pretty and she can play. Instead of capitalizing on this everyone want to bring her down. Everyone keep saying no one wants to watch women basketball but when they get players they want to watch you try to tear her down. So when Don Imus called the team nappy headed hos he got fired. This guy should get the same. Angel Reese understood the assignment when they made the NIL agreements and now you got people mad at her. Good for her and I hope she does well in the WNBA. I hope she brings all the fire there as well.

When it comes to viewership, why are men being discussed at all? I think women need to be held accountable for not watching women sports. If women watched and decided to pay for tickets and merchandise, the party for women would go up. Can someone answer how women's college basketball has more viewers then the WNBA championship? I believe it's because college basketball has stars.

Sara Haines reminds me of every white friend-- namely women-- I've ever encountered in adulthood. She's always chiming in while someone else is talking, trying to be right. Sure, the article was about the team, but they've been villainizing ANGEL since the championship (and before, but relentlessly after), as well as other young Black women (see SC) because they have the nerve to confidently play hard and enjoy themselves, without anyone else's permission. All the caping for Caitlin...I promise you all that DAWG doesn't need you fighting her battles! Imagine fragilizing Caitlin Clark! Lol After the media caused the ENTIRE firestorm, they then came back and committed the same foul, if you will, repacakged-- equated this ELITE EIGHT win to the CHAMPIONSHIP! Imagine how minimizing that is yo BOTH women/teams! Great game and all but let these young women play, trash talk, get a little feisty! For the most part, they're leaving it on the floor, texting eachother, later, while many are stewing-- sewing hatred, division, and dangerous rhetoric! Leave them alone! Let them be great...and most importantly, have fun!
