It makes sense to have that instinct when for thousands of years it's been the woman left with the baby. Effective birth control is still relatively new to humans. And reproduction aside, sexual violence is a natural concern too. Though there are always exceptions, women are generally more vulnerable. Of course, aiming for fairness is ideal, but some of these concerns are understandable and not silly. On the other hand, teaching sons the need for self-control should be as important as protecting daughters.

Maybe I’m slow on observation but it’s becoming really obvious to me that Whoopi is not a happy camper in her current job role. any patience she had before is just gone. If the topic isn’t political or of personal interest, her body language, tone of voice all shout “I wish I was somewhere else!” This is at least the 2nd or 3rd time this week where the other panelists noticed her intolerance for the topic and though they kept it lighthearted, the apologized to Whoopi and assured her it was almost over. If it’s such an undesirable topic for her, why not let one of the other ladies open then close out that segment. Let producers know what topic she doesn’t care about or annoys her or is a generational thing she doesn’t really get, or whatever… If she has anything to add, just let them know during rehearsal. But the rolling of the eyes, and the mocking tone of voice is not funny. I respect wisdom and perspective that older generations bring to the table. But not at the expense of an open mind and knowledge that there is still so much of the world and the people in it, that someone Whoopi’s age still can learn thing from. And who still wants to learn new things.

The world is so weird. People have the right to live as they want in their home. My parents didn't let people smoke in their house. Some people said that made them feel unwelcome. Of course it's their house, their rules. However, the daughter is an adult with an adult boyfriend and they already live together. It's time for the parents (or at least the father) to get with it, and update it. How long is he going to apply that rule: into the daughter's 40s?

Yeah, well, there are alot of people that firmly believe in abstinence before marriage. They might not throw it in their kid's face, but the kid shouldn't throw it in their face either. Of course this is different if it's a homeless situation.

I'm 67 and a few years ago I was visiting my brother and his wife for an afternoon. They live at the beach. Anyway, my sister-in-law said to me that I was welcome anytime to come visit for a weekend and enjoy the beach. I told her that was very nice of her to invite me. Just before I left, my sister-in-law says "Oh Lisa, you are welcome to visit, but please don't bring any strange men to the house." I was flabbergasted, but I kept my cool and said my good byes. But as I walked out of their house, I was thinking "I will never set foot in that house ever again." And I haven't and I never will. I never brought any strange men to anyone's house my entire life.. I don't know what she was smoking, but it was the most ridiculous thing I had ever heard. My brother married her and I didn't and I'll just leave them to themselves. lol!

If the parents are standing by that, then don’t expect your kids to come home and stay at your prison errrr home. You don’t own your kids. They are their own people. Parents have every right to say whatever they want in their own house. But then accept the consequences gracefully that the kids won’t be sleeping over there ever again and it’s your fault.

Yes! It’s absolutely disrespectful! When I was dating this girl wow how things have changed! I would go on family vacations with them and I always stayed either in a different room or in the living room depending on the situation. I was in my early twenties and was not going to disrespect her family. Some people have morals and class still. Now if I’m in my late 20s early 30s that’s completely a different story

Let's keep in mind everyone. The kid isn't debating the dad, her mom is. The mom is the one who thinks it's fine, and I think I agree. They already live together. That's probably her best friend, and I'd hate to be separated from my best friend simply based on the chance we might have sex. I'd just have a talk about respect, but they're adults and I'd treat them as such

Why is the implication that sharing the same room/bed means you're going to have sex? I have never been in a relationship, but from my perspective, I feel like a couple who has never had sex could be reasonably expected to simply just sleep in the same bed together. I know that'd be easy for me because I have boundaries, and sleeping in the same bed as someone doesn't have to mean anything more than sleeping or just chatting or watching stuff together. I'd imagine some couples would also have those boundaries where they both agree that sex is for after marriage, for example, and they can easily simply just share a bed to sleep and do other nonsexual things.

If you’re just visiting, I say abide by the parents rules. I have seen this question when the couple is actually married, and I think asking them to sleep separately in that instance is ridiculous. I guess if it’s a deal breaker, the couple can stay at a hotel during their visit.
