It's dipshits like Sunny that are making me come out and say this, but: Literally no one is watching Caitlin Clark because she's "pretty." She actually is not pretty. She's very good at playing basketball, and that's why people like to watch her play basketball. And for someone to allege that she gets some sort of "white privilege" in professional basketball, which is perhaps the most non-white sector of society you could possibly talk about, is just hopelessly stupid.

Clark is not the highest paid player in the WNBA. She is getting a rookie salary. She is getting more money than others from endorsements. Wilson and other companies are giving Clark these deals because she is incredibly well known and popular. It is a business decision. If more people knew and liked some of the black and/or lesbian WNBA players, these companies would be giving them deals. Michael Jordan, LeBron James, and Kobe Bryant all got huge deals. Not because they were Black, but because they were extremely popular and well known.

Curry, Dame, Luka, Harden, etc. CC needs to get a better dribble, a left hand and play defense. Right now Breanna Stewart is the best in the WNBA. Two time MVP and she's white, so I don't think color is the issue. CC is trending right now. She won 0 titles and she's 0-4 in the WNBA. The whole commentary about Caitlin Clark should not be about race. Look at the WNBA landscape, the "stars" are both black and white. There are plenty of white stars in the WNBA and they have been marketed more than other players. But while all of the OGs and legends of the WNBA have built the platform that today's stars are standing on, CC has done something that is different and unique. She has helped to make the WNBA a main line sports topic. And that is special. Why does the discourse have to be about race but not just a transitional player who shines light on the whole league. That is a lot of pressure to carry and so far she has done it with grace.
