Letters to an Asexual #97 ("No romance? Your parents didn't hug you!")
This is #97 of a series in which I read correspondence between me and people who have questions, comments, or--more often--misconceptions about asexuality.
In this letter, a man hits me up for romance while confessing he's a virgin, and when I'm not interested in romance, he tells me I'm clearly "stone-hearted" and damaged because my parents didn't give me enough affection. Anything to avoid the issue being on their end!

I've noticed that people on dating sites will try to convince you that you're wrong about your own gender and sexuaility. The amount of people that have told me I can't be Aro Ace or Nonbinary, because they happen to be attracted to me and therefore I'm wrong. I understand that gender and sexuality are both fluid, but gender and sexuaility don't change because of someone else's attraction. People are just wild sometimes.

I've had people tell me that I am asexual because no one would have sex with me. This usually comes after they either A. show an interest or B. got schooled by me in a debate.
