Let's Play! Point Blank: V is for Victory (Solitaire)

This is video contains solitaire gameplay from The Bedlam Bridge scenario from the solitaire and 2 player tactical World War 2 squad card wargame Point Blank: V is for Victory. Designed by Sean Druelinger, and published by Lock 'n Load Publishing. Point Blank is a scenario-based game. Each scenario presents the players with a unique situation involving squads of men, support weapons, leaders, and individual armored fighting vehicles. It pits the forces of the USA against Germany just after the landings in Normandy (June 1944) through October 1944. Each player has victory conditions determined by the scenario in which to defend or take objectives, seek and destroy their opponent’s units, or one of many other different scenario objectives.
The game is played on an abstract map board made up of terrain cards in the game and managed through a distance system that accounts for the range to targets, line of sight, and defensive attributes. The player has units that start out on the map and gradually work their way towards their objectives by advancing through the battlefield all the while conducting combat actions against their opponent or defending their troops from return fire or whatever hell that awaits them. Players draw cards from a common action deck where they will play actions on their units on the map board. The game is an IGOUGO impulse system and turns are managed when the action deck is exhausted. (Some scenarios may require multiple deck exhaustion to finish the game). Actions in the game consist of Fire, Move, Assault, Rally, etc. The action cards contain dice icons on them to determine random results.
One of the unique features of the game is that it contains a deck of terrain cards that are not part of the action deck. As players change terrain they will draw a terrain card in which their moving units will occupy. Some action cards such as Recon helps players manage what terrain they occupy but your opponent may have other plans for your moving troops during their turn.
Combat in the game is similar to how combat is conducted in Lock n Load Tactical. 2 players can play a game in about an hour (depending on the scenario size) and if you cannot find an opponent then try the game solo system. In general, the gameplay is fast and excited and compares to such legendary game systems as Up Front.

21:41 Moving unit in C2 is spotted as it is moving. The marker should be placed on the terrain card.

23:55 FP is 1+3+1 (1/2 FP for SS unit 2-1=1) as you obliged with bot to shoot as the fire group +1 for the leader so in total it is = FP6. It would be better to have MG on SS unit as FP of the unit and SW would be 5 and plus 1 (1/2 is round up to 1) for Infantry squad +1 for the leader = FP 7 -1 degraded terrain = FP 6 in total instead of FP 5. The SW switch can be done during the upkeep phase of bot.

15:45 the leader cannot initiate leader action on himself when shaken even on himself when he is ready and in good order. To rally the leader you need to use action card with rally action.

Thanks for doing this, appreciated, the first solo play following the AEO system. 20:50 Did you forget the fire part of the assault action? Seems strange they would select a non-fatigued AEO nearest a PU to assault and then not target that nearest PU, maybe same area instruction referred to target of assault not objective, it's nearest PU was in the same area, A. Extra fatigue placed on a AEO infantry unit that did not fire due to range. You may have missed a few Leader actions as they will always use one of their actions where a unit in their sector will benefit, even if not in the sector where the main (rolled) action was taken.(EdIt you eventually caught it 😁) I feel it need a play aid to follow the steps on AEO turn or at least a Summary section in the Solo rules, it's one of the few, maybe only section that does not end with a rule Summary. Think spend/discard is not a stack but individual unit(plus leader)

I appreciate the feedback Starman. The flowchart works well, occasionally it can stump you and it does take a few seconds, but the solo bot is a big plus to the game in my opinion. I'll have the rest of my opinions in my review.

@@WayneHansen Cool, at 32:00 A unit is Spent after action that spends it. Just one AEO unit takes the spend action (4.7) once action is completed becomes spent and all fatigue removed. You would have selected the unit with least fatigue, possibly taking the leader action to remove one first?Fatigue 2 units suffer penalties but do not become shaken, and fatigue is removed when spent.

22:08 Infantry unit moved from A2 one area to the B2 area is spent and fatigue marker should be taken away.

@23:11 why does the SS squad get a second fatigue marker? They aren't shooting (I don't know the rules - I'm just wondering why he's getting fatigue if he's not firing)

I am learning the game and I think I noticed a possible error at 15:33: "Leaders cannot initiate leader actions on themselves when shaken" (page 15)

It's a bit confusing that an assault action is a move and fire, but you fire THEN move. I have ordered this - but I've seen many videos now and it does look like a bit of a mare with the cards. They seem to move a fair bit and also take up so much space. I can't help but think they should've been smaller...though I know there's a fair bit of info on them. Great video though - you clearly know what you're doing with the game. Thanks. Subscribed. Also - I prefer BOT to AEO

@@WayneHansen Very interested Wayne. Thank you. I pre-ordered this and after some time videos became available that I think showed those cards should've been smaller. Don't get me wrong - I love them and the style, but honestly, it looks like an admin nightmare whilst playing. I've obviously got the game coming so I guess I'll find out soon enough for myself.
