Great video and hopefully inspiring. I am just about to perform the same process as this. I have drained the old fuel out of the tank. Then I am planning to use the little hand pump to draw the new fuel through into the filter, then the injector and finally the nozzles attempting to identify new fuel from old by the colour. Witnessed a similar moment as this on a JCB 3C early last year - a brilliant feeling when it fires up.

Driving a Series LR is like being in a cartoon movie. Remember mine having algiers in the tank clogging the pickup pipe mesh filter.

+Colin Tonkasdad Yes indeed. When I bought it i didn't know whether the gearbox and clutch were stuffed as well. I was able to turn the engine over by hand so that felt sound, but you never know until you get the engine running. I have a Facebook page documenting the restoration. Landrover series 3 restoration if your interested.

Great video, Where did you get your fuel lines? Did you change them from the start of the video (blue) to the end (clear)?

Which one is the return line please?

Did you sort the smoke out? Mine smokes like that and I am worries that it wont pass an MOT here in the UK because of it. Power seems okay so I am thinking valve stem seals maybe. Well done on getting it started!

I had to rebuild the engine. It had a lot of issues, worn bores and rings, pitted valve seats, and a cam that had a worn out keyway which had been welded up 5 degrees out of position.

@@geoffguest6293 oh god that doesn't make me feel hopeful! Got to love a welded up keyway. People that do that are the same people that weld a sprocket to a countershaft on a motorcycle! You got a video of how the Landy is doing now?

@@killerbanjo check your injection pump timing, the timing chain wears and you may have to advance the timing a little.

@@eddkennedy6458 Yeah it turned out that it had a new style cam chain tensioner but with the old style chain that has 1 link more I think so the chain was not getting tensioned correctly. Put the correct chain in and redid the timing and now it runs spot on. I say spot on, these 2.25 diesels are so slow!
