Look forward to more videos on project Kermit. Impressed by how easily resuscitated he was after such a long lay up and that headlining.... absolutely class!😁👍

How lucky starting like that, I would do the lottery tonight if I was you! Can I ask a question. Recently brought a Series 3 and it passed mot this wee which was a bonus, but ai have real problems getting first gear. Reverse is no probs. I have bled clutch, pedal is right at top of travel when engaging. Any help would be appreciated. Dave

Very lucky but to be honest I think it was serviced just before being parked 10+ years ago that helped. First gear 🤔 it's really hard to say with out testing it first hand there could be a few causes there are many fail points. a warn syncro is common but as the clutch is high that points to either the cylinders or clutch its self I would start with the cylinders first but that is just a guess without seeing it.

People that bastardise vehicles, especially Land Rover's should be prosecuted under the Miss use and Abuse of Vehicles Act 2024 which will become law when become Emperor of England. It isn't customising when you take a motor and make it a mess. Punishment of course will range from pushing their vehicle minus any power assistance of any kind for a distance determined by the level of crass, trashy bling they have added or used to change their vehicle into an abomination. The minimum sentence being five whole miles and must include a hill. Well done getting it going!

@@retro.restorations Thanks for your vote. I will make you Minister for Practical Mechanics. Your job will be to decomputerise, de-Ad Blue and deregulate stupid vehicle design and manufacturing laws. Of course, you have no choice but to accept the job. Or face the pain of stripping 20miles of automotive cable with teeth! 😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣

Agree to a point but I think after 50 years each Landy that has survived has its history writ in the things that are bolted on removed etc etc. I quite like the headlining in this one, it’ll absorb sound quite well and so long as it’s well applied should keep the roof from dripping condensation. Not Keen on the def bulkhead but at least it has the series two screen mounts. Again I’m no lover of the series three plastic dash but I wasn’t around when it was changed, maybe the original was so shot, this was the only viable solution. At least it stayed on the road and has survived, rather than being broken for bits. I’ve got a nice unmessed with series one dash in my series two. Just because I prefer the series one idiot lights ( brass and glass) to the correct plastic ones. And being tall, Sierra seats are a no no. I can only fit behind the wheel if it’s got the six original flat cushions. The ones that really leave me cold are the super restored 1s and 2s with new wings all regalvanised ,brand new seats , hood, sticks, so there’s nothing that looks its age because all the scruffy original parts have been binned and it’s all Britpart reproduction stuff etc. All the history of the vehicle has been airbrushed out and it’s sterile. Mines got dents from the sixties and a couple of grooves bangs and crunches I’ve done. All part of having a working vehicle. I’d much rather see a working Landy even if I don’t like the chequer plate on the wings or the cubby box in the front. They were built to be modded ,after all. I painted my 86” bright orange with red wheels, just like the Dinky Landrover No 340. I’m sure sure that got up some people s noses but fukkem. I loved it. It’s still around but back in green. Anything goes so long as it’s getting used, as far as I’m concerned.

They do all tell a tail and I do try to reuse and refurb as many original parts as possible if this was in its original paint I would be tempted to leave it be but it's a mess so will get painted. The best part of owning a land rover is you can do with it what you want and modify where you see fit but I do draw the line at 6 headlights (including the spots on the roof) and furry green head lining the dash and bulkhead don't bother me but I'll change it as that's what sells best and I'll save the bulkhead for a future defender project. I love patina and Originality as much as a mint restoration but there is a big difference between patina and a total mess.
