I love how Kong rips out that one Skullcrawler's guts, much to the disgust of the human visitors. Also, I love how Samuel L. Jackson brought back his iconic line from Jurassic Park: "Hold on to your butts"

Honestly, Kong skull Island does not get as much credit as I feel a deserves. It’s a very underrated movie. I mean, this movie is different from other Kong movies. It’s a breath of fresh air the film actually focuses on Kong and there’s no more love stories no more of him, climbing on the Empire State building and dying a tragic death. no we actually get to see Kong really be a bad ass on his turf And there is likable characters in this movie Samuel Jackson’s character has a lot of complexity, and honestly John C Riley was just a national treasurer in this movie. And I love how accurate the movie is to the time period And I love that we actually get some music from the 70s and there’s a lot of really great action scenes. I mean this movie was just a breath of fresh air and it just kills me that this movie just doesn’t get a whole lot of love. But let me tell you this is the world we’re living in we’re living in a world where a good movie like this doesn’t get shit but a shitty movie like the Barbie movie makes $1 billion dollars. I just don’t get it, and I never will. I just don’t understand how people could like the Barbie movie. It was just such a terrible movie like what was so great about it that it had to make $1 billion.

The cast in this movie is literally like Marvel meets Straight outta Compton 😂😂

5:14 Kong actually predates Godzilla by over 20 years! The original King Kong film released in 1933 and the original Godzilla released in 1954 (Kong served as an inspiration behind Godzilla’s creation and was the second monster he ever fought in the OG King Kong vs Godzilla from 1962) - I know some people write Kong off as just a big gorilla, but without him there might not even BE a Godzilla 😄 we gotta put respect on his name

Monsterverse movie 2 Kong skull island... So freaking awesome. Make sure y'all stay for the end credits it'll set up the next movie king of the monsters

Kong, in this movie, is actually only 1/3 Godzilla’s size from the 2014 movie. Godzilla gets even bigger by his sequel. Kong had 50 years to keep growing before they fight in GvK, and even then, he’s still about 30 feet shorter than Godzilla, which in their equivalent is about three inches shorter if comparing two humans.

There is an animated Netflix skull Island series which is Cannon to the monster verse which takes place 20 years after this movie. It's not essential to watch but it is a good series.

I loved that they put Paranoid on the soundtrack

I honestly thought they were redoing King Kong again and I gave this movie a chance. I like how they did Kong and gave him a real threat to fight. Plus I think the grenade sacrifice was meant to go 2 different ways: either be swallowed and take out the big crawler within or let the explosion summon Kong like it happened before.

A younger version of John Goodman’s character Bill Randa appears in the show Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The show actually shows the early days of Monarch as an organization and the events that basically made Bill Randa the person he is in this movie and you learn really what actually drove him to go to Skull Island, a deeper and more tragic reason than the explanation he gave to Samuel L Jackson’s character. And in case you’re wondering the in-universe chronological order of the Monsterverse projects, this is the order, including the shows and movies. Kong: Skull Island (2017) - set in 1973 Skull Island animated show (2023) - set in 1990s Godzilla (2014) - set in 2014 Monarch: Legacy of Monsters (2023) - split story between 1950s and 2015 Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) - set in 2019 Godzilla vs Kong (2021) - set in 2024 Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024) - set after Godzilla vs Kong

😅 I loved the WW2 airman, he was hilarious 😆 yet relatable. The Monarch dude annoyed me, all these deaths because he wanted validation 😒 for reporting seeing monsters and being mocked for it. Poor Kong, primates are social and he's completely alone. No hugs for him 😢

It wasn’t just because he wanted validation, there’s a lot more to it, he was trying to find the answers to the fates of people he had lost and that he was being shut down from searching for. You actually see more of his story in the show Monarch: Legacy of Monsters where a younger version of him helps with the founding of Monarch and you see the events that leads to why he went out to Skull Island. It’s a lot more than just for validation.
