WHAT IS TALK HEATHEN?
Talk Heathen is a weekly call-in television show in Austin, Texas geared toward long-form and on-going dialogue with theists & atheists about religion, theism, & secularism. Talk Heathen is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin.
Talk Heathen is filmed in front of a live studio audience every week at the Freethought Library of the Atheist Community of Austin.
The Atheist Community of Austin is organized as a nonprofit educational corporation to develop & support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing & friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of government-religion separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists & to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.
We define atheism as the lack of belief in gods. This definition also encompasses what most people call agnosticism.

"It is important to understand the distinction between an erroneous assumption and a stupid mistake. Simply being wrong by no means necessarily involves an affront to sound reason. If a four-year-old child is taught that the first president of the United States was Charlton Heston, he or she will thereafter make a number of erroneous statements about that particular question. But this will not be because he or she has reasoned poorly. It will be simply because the child has relied on poor authority. Stupidity, of course, can eventually enter into the process if individuals so unfortunately conditioned persist in their mistaken opinions for the rest of their lives, despite the availability of mountains of evidence to the contrary." --Steve Allen. When you OWN The Truth, you are intuitively right in all you think, say and do. Wonderful! You have all without ANY effort. When you know NOTHING about EVERYthing, the simplest method is to declare some slogan ("Earth is flat" "God chose me", "more guns make us safer") as irrefutable Truth, so obvious it needs no further consideration. That mutates you into a genius that intuitively understands that what can be known, and all others change into deluded, indoctrinated morons that THINK they can explain the world, but it is all just an illusion. When your "world" consisted of how far you could see (five miles) from the furthest you'd ever been from home (half a day of brisk walking) the claim of a "world-wide flood" becomes more understandable. You had no reason to think the land you couldn't see was any different from the land you COULD see. Plus, when transportation relied on walking, riding a horse or traveling by boat, in most areas visitors from out of town were so uncommon that the entire village could speak of little else for days. I read that the 20th century was the first time in human history when the majority of people understood the world was far larger and more diverse than anything they could imagine!

A person who is the antithesis of omniscient wants to talk about how his imaginary friend is omniscient. He starts off by literally saying that he doesn’t know how to tell if something is true or not.

When someone keeps saying "Yeah, but...", that's pretty good evidence they're not listening to what's coming out of your mouth. This caller is a good example of when religion closes one's mind completely to anything that doesn't already correspond to one's established beliefs. By "established" I mean firmly rooted in the mind, not verified as being true.

It also never says anything about Jesus needing to use the bathroom. Did he never have to use the bathroom? Using this guy's logic of "Jesus never had to use notes cause it's not mentioned in the Bible" is enough to prove that Jesus never had to go to the bathroom with this guy's logic

Wow, I like how a conversation progressing in a way that doesn't agree with his script means "you guys are dragging me down this road that I didn't even want to talk about"... The convo took a natural flow & its no ones fault but Davids since he didn't want to get to the point. He bought up "I guess I have to explain what I take as evidence" so it was no one else's fault but David that the convo didn't go the way he wanted lmao

As a comic book nerd, he is so far off on Superman he makes Bill from Kill Bill seem more true. Point is, mythology is mythology and comic books and the old pulp novels are modern mythology. Religion is just mythology you believe in. Everything now deemed mythology was once theology.
