Because the choice is limited probably. And a multi million pound business wants to reduce risk where possible so will be very reticent about taking a 'no-name' manager on board. Elite prospects in the managerial position are extremely limited, so when one does come along there will be a big number of clubs after him. Which means the rest have to send for what's available or stick with what they've got.

Personally I think Luis Enrique will be a better fit than nagelsmann m. He will get more respect from the players especially the older bunch in our team as a former player at q high level, nagelsmann retired at 20 coz of injuries so wouldn't be able to command as much respect. Enrique has also won more as a manager and his style of football if given time at Chelsea would please alot of fans if he can get the playing his style properly. Don't get me wrong nagelsmann is a decent manager abd could go on to be one of the best coaches but I think he needs abit more experience and a few more years simply because the chelsea job is one of the hardest there is and historically managers don't get time. Whether the new owners will stick to a long term plan and a long term coach remains to be seen and I hope they do but for nagelsmann he might struggle initially and if we find ourselves in a similar position next season will he still get time? Can argue same could be said for anyone coming in but I just personally think right now the best option is Enrique seeing as my preferred target Zidane isn't interested
Could've been worse ! Could've appointed Mr Slippy...Gerrard !😂

It’s a solid idea. Brings the fans back on board. No pressure on him whatsoever to get top four or best Madrid. Gives them time to properly look for a new permanent manager. The manager should then come into the club in the summer with them being in a good vibe. Also so many people seem to be forgetting his first season at Chelsea where he done really well.
@MeTaLMoNkEyLeYrOy

You think the reason Potter went is because the fans were getting angry and the owner thought they know exactly what the club need ?. What do they know , they haven’t an inkling what trust the process is . Can’t pin the lack of goals on potter . Felix is woeful and Havert isn’t a striker . The stories that broke this week about Mudryk and Madueke having to change in the corridor speaks volumes . Too many players on the books , no opportunity to weed the bag eggs , dud signings and no hopers out. Now the new manager will be on the back foot in the summer .

You think they didn't "properly look" for Graham Potter. Apparently they were keen on him and thought he was the right man for the job. You can spend an entire 6 months looking for the right person, let's face it that's just about three or four names really.... The underlying thing is that the egos of the ownership far exceeds their knowledge in running a successful football club. They're basically a blueprint of how not to run a club.. look at how Newcastle owners handled their takeover.....

@@MeTaLMoNkEyLeYrOy actually the mood of the supporters around the club matters a lot and affects how Chelsea looks and performs. Sure mood of the fans is not all that matters but makes a difference. Most likely they thought there are too many negative fans like yourself gaining influence or too many level headed fans are turning into your way of thinking. This appointment might not change your mood but would change some or a lot of fans around the team bc the feelings of the fans as a collective does make its way to the dressing room and club as a whole. I’m an Arsenal fan and don’t know as much about Chelsea but I know that much is true. Chelsea are always going to take years, if not 2 decade to get back to what they were. Potter was mostly a victim bc Even if Zidane or pep joined instead of potter, would still be very rocky. If I were Chelsea I would take a 3 year plan which means hiring a modern progressive up and coming manager not an anchelotti or klopp type.

It's so risky from Boehly's POV. It's a good decision for what it is, gets the positive vibes back & all that, but if he does well (and by that I mean improve which won't be hard) the crowd aren't going to allow Boehly to hire someone else & long term that's not what's best for Chelsea. This would've been an inspired move a couple of months ago when top 4 was still alive cos the quality's there in the squad, vibes might've been enough to propel us into the conversation & if Boehly was forced to hire him at least he got something back from it, but now it doesn't do much other than tease fans & potentially give Boehly a problem he didn't need.
Spot on Simon Jordan! He's the only guy in the media offering a different view. All the others are lapping this up and hailing this appointment. Lampard is a failed managed at 2 PL clubs. Sacked twice and his media buddies think its a great appointment? reminds me of the hiring and maintaining of Ole. A disastrous club

Anyone who thought we were going to be able to bring in a top manager for the interim position is out of their mind. No top manager is going to risk their reputation by coming into this situation with 10 games left and a 31 man squad. Lampard for 10 games makes sense. Lets not forget that in Frank's second season Chelsea we were top of the table in late November/early December, and then sadly the wheels fell of and he was ultimately sacked in January and i am sure he has learned a lot of lessons from that. However, i don't think he should be given the permanent job regardless of how well he fares until the end of season, even if he wins us the CL, but still he is certainly an upgrade on both Potter and Bruno Saltor in my opinion. He's Chelsea through and through, he already knows a lot of the players, he has been there and done it as a player himself, plus he will instantly command respect and provide more leadership than Potter ever could, and he will without a doubt bring a lot of feel good factor back to the fans, the bridge and hopefully the players as well, which might just be what squad needs right now.

Lampard did a great job with uniting the players and the fans at Everton. He is a great person but he was not good enough tactically, and too nice with the players.
Possibly, the appointment of Lampard is neither here nor there in relation to Chelsea`s season. Potter may have been given to the end of the season if it wasn`t for Spurs parting with Conti. Any top managers out there looking at the Premier league opportunities suddenly have more than one option when looking at the top end of the table. Chelsea had to make their call now, which they`ve done.
Job for the boys 😂😂😂
I don't get why ppl are mad about this appointment ....There is absolutely nothing to salvage this season, even if we bring sir Alex Ferguson from retirement , our chances of winning the champions league are close to 0 I prefer the board to take its time in order to assess who s the right man for the long term.

2 losses from 2 as a Chelsea fan it was a big mistake it won't raise morale just carry on sinking it.
If they bring a manager in now and he doesn't work out, it will make matters worse, so there's a case to be made for waiting till the summer to thoroughly consider who to appoint. Lampard returning is a bit of a joke but I can see why they think it could help short term
I disagree with Simon, it's better not to rush in a new manager, it gives time for the top candidates to better assess the team and make plans from the outside and not have to be immediately under pressure. Appointing Lampard is fine on an interim basis (although I fear he might just go back to playing Mount every game as if that is a solution). But waiting til the end of the season to appoint a new manager will help the club evaluate what manager they think will be the right choice, though with the likes of PSG also needing a new manager Chelsea perhaps might need to pay more to secure their target, who knows..

😂 missing the point about Frank. It’s not his coaching success. 😂 This is not about Everton et al. This is Chelsea and he is only interim coach for only 10 games AND a CL game vs RM. As one of our own with JT and probably AC they will bust a gut to see if they get best RM and Arsenal 😂 It doesn’t matter if he loses every game it gives the fans a bounce and something interesting to finish and an incredible dire season so far. So yes it is probably an inspiring employ and it doesn’t matter unless he actually wins then wow! 😂😂
I must say I'm enjoying being told by people who helped perpetuate the Potter nonsense for months on end, that appointing Lampard for a mere 60 days as interim is the real disaster here. No Chelsea fan seriously expects Frank to do anything significant in that time, but the fact is he's had far more success as a Chelsea manager than Potter ever did. Top 4 in his first season despite no Eden Hazard, a transfer ban and a team of youth players. Kept us in Europe in his second season long enough for Tuchel to pick up the baton and win the Champions league. Lampard will do fine, thanks.

You said Frank will take training this afternoon. I heard he never took training when he was previously manger of the club. He was more of a sit in the office and get his staff to handle that kind of guy.

That’s why they have first team coaches…
I also think it's the wrong approach, they should have gone straight to the new manager so that he could asses the players before the break
Double standard Simon. Crystal Palace went back for Roy Hodgson😅
So he's a Rangnick equivalent on a fixed term? Now that did wonders to the United morale!
Heart over mind 👍
Well said Simon
Simon Jordan talks with confidence that you think he has it all figured out. An expert. When people were questioning if Boehly knew what he was doing, he was against that. Two managers sacked now he sees what other people thought in the first place, all of a sudden he's an expert again.

Lampard's full season allowed the most goals in the PL for a Chelsea team since the PL switched to 38 gm's nearly 30 yrs ago..... This is Boehly in a Panic trying to influence CPO..... I tried to explain last Summer Boehly is a brainless fugazi paper Billionaire who made his fortune stealing thru Credit Default Swaps - it is Not Real.... We are finished as a Top club

If Simon Jordan thinks it's a bad idea as a Chelsea fan I'm encouraged.

I suppose it's better than bringing back Winstone Bogarde, who is a legend
To sum it up Boehly lacked the courage of his convictions
Lampard looked really involved, probably he is not the best manager but he is a Chelsea legend
I thought Simon said Boehly was obviously a genius and had a great plan after spending £700m he must know what he's doing?
champions league aside, and given they're against Madrid with no expectations, I don't get the uproar. They're doing nothing in the league and there's nothing to aim for. Benitez/Hiddink type caretaker might make more sense but assuming they go out to Real, what are they there for? guide chelsea to 8th? If they can't get their long term choice now, whether because he's tied up with a club or he wants to have a crack at it from pre-season and start afresh, then Frank is probably as decent a shout as any given the circumstances.
Maybe they have somone lined up already for the summer. If they do, then does it really matter who manages the club till the end of the season?

Yes it matters. If you said Graham Potter to stay I would have to keep suffering watching these games. But seeing Lampard there will bring me happiness.

@@robievilhelm8514 I'm talking more in terms of league position. Nothing really to play for now besides pride. Although of course, anything can happen in the champions league.
Simon Jordan is spot on
I’m not the greatest fan of the lampard move but at least this time they are doing their due diligence with the hiring. The speed w which they installed potter made my head spin - see the disaster post. So take the time and make an informed choice
The only way you are going to get a top manager in with 10 games to go in the season and in terrible form would be to pay something ridiculous. This is a great move until the end of the season by Chelsea as it elimates the Potter ball because lets face it having Bruno (a coach close to Potter) as interim would just lead to us going down the same route. As an X owner you should know this.
Lazy and uninspiring, reminds me of TalkSports journalism.
unfortunately franks head back receding, by the end of season, he'll have a big hole in his head back, after one full season he will look like the united manager TEN haag
John Terry spoke to Boehly with the hope of becoming his number two
There's nothing lazy about it Simon. They want to take their time, that's a proper business decision in my opinion.
Alex crook 😂 he has no idea until fabizio puts out a tweet
Lampard 1st stint said Chelsea could never go toe-to-toe with Man City because of their spending. Tuchel proceeds to beat City in the FA Cup 2-1 and 1-0 in the Champions with the same players.
It's only short term FFS
Going from Potter to Lampard. Chelsea have lost the plot.
Franky might as well try to pull a summer transfer for Hazard while they are at it
He is one of our own. We can stick with him if we can stick with Potter then why not Frank.
shout out to danny murphy and everyone else that said 3 months ago lampard is a good manager and wont get relegated this season. they were right.
Darren Farley loving him keep saying Courage of your Convictions
It’s a curveball but its certainly not lazy!! Wait and see what happens before you paint a picture of disaster. Reece, Mount, Chilwell, Mendy, Chabolaoh and Sterling are loving this appointment
Everyone's just missing the point on this one aren't they. Lampard's been hired as player/manager, that's how they're going to score goals til the end of the season. Watch out epl!
