Yes it would make sense to stop the fight if you see broken arm. but also if the arm is already broken there is nothing you can change about it , so if fighter screams at you it's ok then the least you can do is to let him have his moment.

Does the UFC have any rules for broken bones or sprains to stop a fight ? I always thought that the responsibility is on the fighter, and the referee could be blamed only if he did not react to the tap or defenseless condition of the fighter.

This fight was a couple of years ago or so; it turned out not to be broken, but a badly dislocated arm, which meant it could heal up a lot faster, and he was back fighting soon enough!

I remember watching it live, I havent seen the ref (Yves Lavigne) ref the UFC since that horrible late stoppage. Btw it was a dislocation, he didnt need surgery.
