Installing SKOOLIE ROOF DECK From Reclaimed 1964 Cedar Power Poles
After months of preparation, we are now installing our #SkoolieRoofDeck. We found a guy who works for the local power company who reclaims the #WesternRedCedar electrical poles. So we put in an order to have our roof's maintenance decking milled. The cedar wood was originally harvested back in 1964 making these boards perfectly seasoned for their next chapter in life on our roof.
Adding a rooftop deck was a massive decision because we needed a safe way to maintain our solar panels. The decking provides a safe, stable platform to clean our solar panels without having to walk on the slippery curved #Skoolie roof. This roof decking will also provide extra shade on the roof, which should help reduce the amount of radiant heat bearing down on our roof during the summertime. Another bonus is that we just increased our exterior storage space by leaps and bounds making this the perfect place to lash up a canoe or stand up paddle board in the future.

Hey, we're Brian + Erin. Currently, we're workin' on our bugout bus. Lucky the proverbial $hit hadn't hit the fan yet when we picked up this 40-foot beauty in Phoenix, AZ and drove it up to Canada to convert it. Hopefully, we all still have time...
Honestly, this bus has been the only sane thing in this insane world. We can't tell you how good it feels to BE working on something that lights our souls up and has such potential for a life that is entwined with nature, love, and happiness.
Our main goal is to explore the depths of who we are and what we're capable of. We hope to inspire people to get off-grid and become self-reliant. We are well on our way and are super excited to talk about solutions with others who are shooting for that path.

Nice work guy's oh and nice drone flying. Love how you pointed out how the little things would have bothered you and then you come to a point and say good enough Been there guys I have to remind myself it's not a space shuttle it's good enough. Otherwise you'll never get it done. Life is to short for that.

Knocked another one outta the park. That is one sexy looking deck er i mean catwalk! Also going to have to get one of those small propane torches, ive only seen the bigger ones when i was doing a wet mop tar roof. That smaller one would be perfect for starting camp fires.

We have 4 total solar panels and they are rated at a combined 1,320 watts. When its sunny out, they work great! When it's cloudy out or dark... well... No solar panels work in that case! LOL! We love them! They are doing an amazing job! Thanks for watching @Steven Annett! - B+E
