  Thank you for making these videos for Canadians🇨🇦🍁 I am desperately trying to get in touch with someone who could provide some advice from experience for a couple steps along the way. I am an older girl, brand new on her own and will be purchasing a bus to live in full time in Ontario. This will be a completely solo and financially very limited project.   This made my skoolie roof leak horrifically! And I did it exactly the same way! I used it to mount my solar panels. I even put 52OO over it and that reduced the leak but still leaks and my roof molded. It’s a nightmare! I’m at a 40k loss now unless I can somehow remove the racks, patch/weld the holes and put a new rack by side mounting them. And then replacing my interior roof! 😭

  Really sorry to hear this. We have not had leak issues at all from the roof rack mounts. However… We have had mold issues in the lower part of cupboards and behind couches on low walls. Busses can be a condensation mess depending on where you live. We had what we thought was a leak from our roof. We tore out the ceiling and insulation to check. It wasn’t a leak at all. It was condensation pouring through the ceiling. Could that be your issue? I dunno… The rivet nuts sure are hard to squeeze… So could be that in your case. I know I couldn’t squeeze that thing, and it was hard for Brian… We love our conversion, but I’m gonna be honest and say it isn’t something I’d do again. Condensation sucks!

  @@BEAdventurePartners that’s a great point! Condensation causes the same issues in mine, but maybe the guy who squeezed the riv nuts (cause I couldn’t either way too hard) maybe he didn’t do it well enough. I’ll look into maybe how to undo them 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️. Thanks for that detail. That does help a ton! ❤️

  2:07 "whatever that means", lol other than the states, everyone follows metric(Canada included) for reference 1kg = 2.2lbs so 14.8 = roughly 32.5 pounds.

  This is such a cool idea - I like the idea of making it dual or even triple pane (I live where it is cold 🥶) so I love the awesome frame you made - before you assembled it for good I would have routed grooves for each pane of the poly - I would have assembled the top and the 2 sides and them slid in a rubber gasket and the slid in each of the polycarbonate pane and attached the bottom of the frame (also with grooves to hold the pane#) Since I’m watching the video a few years after you installed these windows, I’ll have to skip forward in time to see how they worked out - great idea !

  @katherinekelly5380 - you are right about double or triple pane. Single pane isn’t the best. Living in a bus in a colder climate isn’t the best either. Condensation is really disappointing, and thermal bridging is real. It’s also next to impossible to completely prevent thermal bridging in a bus. We could have done better to prevent thermal bridging… Looking back now. But you don’t know what you know until you learn more about it. If we were to do it over again… We’d build a house with natural materials.

  When you slid your last piece of pipe in outside, it didn’t look like you had to have a firm marry of the two. I just cleaned my chimney for the first time, didn’t do the install, and noticed the last piece of pipe is somewhat a lose connection. There is the outer pipe that keeps the smoke flowing, so I just want to make sure it is good and that I didn’t loosen it with cleaning. I hope that all makes sense! Any help is appreciated. Thanks! 😊

  I better option would have been to install a 1/2 inch bulkhead with a over flow pvc pipe with a screen , about 6 inches next to the large black cap. You can’t expect air to exit where you want water to enter.

  In March, 2022, I bought my 2003 Bluebird RE Cummins 8.3 from Tony at AAA Bus, and I got the same awesome service that you did! The bus is still running 100% - and I am now (FINALLY) working full time (7 days / week!) on by build. I'll subscribe and watch your videos - as well as dozens of others showing their work on KZread. (I am NEVER too proud to steal good ideas from others)! I am videoing all of my work, and eventually I'll edit and post it. Probably see you out there on the road - like a future Skooliepalooza.

  That's why I opted to not fix my panels to my roof. I feel like mounting the panels on the roof is really just because of the trend; it's really not necessary, and is more of a hazard often times. I'll just take a few minutes after stopping to set up my panels on a portable rack on wheels, that way I can angle them towards the sun while also following it's movement. Just a thought.
