Фильм және анимация

I wanted to hang out on top my Sprinter van without spending heaps of money so I fashioned this DIY rooftop deck platform for $25! This simple deck is sturdy, weather proof, and easy on the eyes. If you've every wanted to read a book on the roof of your vehicle while watching the surf roll in, now you can.

I Found some similar new pallets, new online. They are called Display Base pallets. Think of the warehouse stores and their pallet displays. You might see them there.

Very nice idea. I was thinking about doing something like this for my Subi outback but in much smaller proportion. Just enough to get my single bivy on top without me falling off the car. It will be a poormans's rooftop tent, so to speak. Thanks for the idea. Your sleeping mat is pretty pricey too...but nice.

Genius. I’ve been trying to decide how to make a DIY tent platform to put on top of a truck bed rack. Basically the exact same concept as what you did only for a truck instead of a van. I already own a regular ground tent and didn’t want to waste buckets of $ on a fancy RTT so I think I can take your ingenuity and create my own solution

most pallets are 40" x 48"...your pallets appear to be longer. I have a long, tall T1N, and the crossbars on my ladder rack are 48 inches apart. I can cobb them together, but I would much rather have the long ones that you appear to have. Looked everywhere, no can find. Can you confirm the dimensions on the pallets you filleted?

You have rack. Wouldnt want want to think about wind resistance? Would that wind resistance increase if you put a flat surface on the rack,? Increasing fuel consumption. You could have issues in high cross winds with what is effectively a sail on the roof. In a high sided vehicle.

DIY'ers have to make a decision: want solar setup or a deck? I think most builders are putting in solar, especially if you have a 144" as oppose to the 170"

These plastic pallets are much more expensive for the shipper than wood pallets. Many also have RFID chips in them so customers can know where their goods are. As an example, Walmart uses these smart pallets for their egg deliveries. If there is a poultry disease outbreak, they know where the eggs from that farm are from and can recall those eggs. Because of their added expense, these pallets are often financed and those pallets have a security interest on them. Stay away.
