Always that first switch flip after completing the project and testing the result. I have the same hesitation when I used to do commercial espresso machine rehabs as a hobby. Your bus looks reeeally nice. 💯✌️

Fantastic video. What is your driving range? Is the entire bus running on solar non stop?
But what about useing the alternator on the engine to charge when moving? How much of the load could be shifted off the battery banks and recharged doing so?
The next big breakthrough for this kind of endeavor will be retractable solar awnings. I don't rv but I sail, and I can't wait to retrofit my boat with solar sails

solar sails would be so sweet for boats. if i could have a solar powered electric motor with battery backup to supplement the wind i think i'd be on the water
OMG. You have done it again! So what's the most you could think to max out for a short bus with 4x4 lift and overland trailer combo? ...asking for a friend...

Planning to do all electric/solar on our conversion, is there an electric water heater you recommend?

You can actually find everything I recommend at www.tinyurl.com/busbuildspreadsheet. But yes I rccomend the Bosch 6 gallon point of use electric water heater.
With the inverter does it have to be plugged into shore power to work? I’ve got my system all installed and everything works (the only thing i don’t have is the lynx distributor, i just used normal positive and negative bus bars) and everything works great when plugged into 50amp shore power but the inverter doesn’t turn on when I’m not plugged into shore power. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong, any tips?

@@MobileDwellings yes i do, i have 2 12v batteries wired in series for 24v, the inverter is victron multiplus 3000w 24v. the batteries are connected to bus bars that connect to the inverter battery posts, everything runs smooth when connected to shore power but when I'm not connected to shore power only my 12v fuse box works but my inverter won't turn on or push power to my 24v breaker box
What will the calculations be like to drive the schoolies with electric motors? (rip out the engine) Maybe a heavy generator as back up. 🤔🤔 That would be a dream.

If Tesla can make an electric 18 Wheeler it definitely can be done. Would require an incredible amount of batteries and a great network of chargers. Electric delivery vans are coming soon. I think that's the next step.

What did the solar system cost in total?

A system of this size generally costs close to $12K. A lot of the price is the batteries.
