Preparing Shou Sugi Ban Decking (Plus Other Necessities Like Stools And A Drawbridge Spice Rack)

It was really exciting to start our shou sugi ban deck project with our good skoolie friends Deni + Ang. This is the second time they have come to help us out! Seriously, we couldn't be more grateful for their help, and their friendship!
Though the deck project got derailed a bit, by rain, and then a broken planer belt... We still made the best of our time, and got some little things done while we waited for parts to be delivered.

💑 Who Are BE Adventure Partners?
Hey, we're Brian + Erin. Currently, we're workin' on our bugout bus. Lucky the proverbial $hit hadn't hit the fan yet when we picked up this 40-foot beauty in Phoenix, AZ and drove it up to Canada to convert it. Hopefully, we all still have time...
Honestly, this bus has been the only sane thing in this insane world. We can't tell you how good it feels to BE working on something that lights our souls up and has such potential for a life that is entwined with nature, love, and happiness.
Our main goal is to explore the depths of who we are and what we're capable of. We hope to inspire people to get off-grid and become self-reliant. We are well on our way and are super excited to talk about solutions with others who are shooting for that path.
Big LOVE! Thanks for BEing here!

    On top of using that nylon nut . I would recommend using a lock washer for extra security …

  • @BEAdventurePartners

    @BEAdventurePartners

    2 жыл бұрын

    Lock washers are definitly great! In this experiment, we're just using nyloc nuts because we want to see their performance over time without using other forms of mechanical bolt locking techniques (e.g. thread locker, lock washer, serrated washers, lock nuts, welding the bolt to the nut...) Considering there are 8 connection points per board, even if one nyloc nut loosened, it wouldn't be a catastrophic failure. Thanks for watching! - Brian + Erin

    @@BEAdventurePartners well if you look at "Knapp Time" youtube channel, Randy.did an awesome schoolie conversion and tows a Ford F150.. He struggles to get 60 mph and hills for him are a killer. I have followed your build,almost from the start. You are doing a super job and I wish you the best on the road.. Cheers.Steve

    @1pilotsteve, yeah we talk to the Knapps often. We figured their bus would be heavier with all the metal added when they did the roof raise. Lol ours is heavier. Just got it weighed the other day when we rolled off the barn property. To be fair we are full to the gills because we had to bring everything... So after some sorting and sifting we will share the weight. Still not as heavy as the gross vehicle rating, and super balanced. Thanks for your kind words. Would love to hear your guess on how much it weighs.
