I was around the drinking and smoking...

Supecross Champion Cooper Webb opens about the positives of the Public School experience that he went through, something that isn't common place amongst his peers. While Cooper admits he was around all of the parties during high school, him becoming the known DD was what actually made him popular amongst his school mates.
//
Your current (tied) points leading in the 450 class proves the headspace he is in by casually dropping into the studio for this epic yarn. We have been wanting to make this happen for a long time and the timing couldn't be better. I have known Coop for almost 15 years but I was able to learn so much about him throughout this podcast and I really hope you guys enjoy getting an insight into the mind of one of the most savage racers of all time.

    I wentt to elementary school and middle school with Justin Buckelew who has a huge amount of lorretta titles and he couldn't dribble a basketball or throw a football and he was always one of the last kids picked for any sports. Nobody knew he was on Team Green and winning all the amateur nationals. I lived in Edgewood NM in 92-95. Then my family moved cause my father and brother were jockeys and I moved to hot springs Arkansas.

    Buckelew was a hell of a rider, especially on a 125. Very underrated rider, so much bike skill, same with Billy Laninovich.. not sure why he came to mind exactly, but besides as a racer, Billy out in the hills was incredible to watch.

    I remember all those guys. Buckelew came out to our SX track at my buddies house during those days. This story reminds me of Ryan Morais. Him and Daniel Blair were our friends up here in Nor Cal and when we went out to high school parties Ryan was always DD. He had a bad ass box fan with a bad ass stereo. I stayed sober because at those parties because I looked up to Ryan. His Dad was strict, so we had to go to youth group church on Wednesdays to be able to get him out of his house. Ryan didn’t go to school though. He was full in on Yamaha amateur program, so much that I think it cost him a championship. If he goes pro right at 16 he probably ends up a champion. There are so many stories on this subject from being just as fast as Bubba in qualifying and A HUGE protest by the A class to try and point Ryan out to go Pro. You should really have Ryan on because he has so many stories and he’s on Coop’s KTM team in R&D. BUT, if you have him on just ask about Dosha aka Roach and Troy’s track and all the good times.
