"It's Going To Be A SH*T SHOW" - Is It Time For Dangerboy Deegan To Go 450's?

Jacko Strong speaks on Haiden Deegan and what the sport looks like when he goes up to the 450 class.
Jackson Strong is the man of the hour after his win in FMX Best Trick at this years X Games in Ventura. The win puts him as one of the all time greats of the sport. Jacko is from humble beginnings, growing up in the rural town of Wagga Wagga Australia and spent his life honing his craft on his custom built compound. Away from FMX, Jacko has a passion for aviation literally building his own planes. He is by far one of the most interesting blokes I've ever had on the podcast and this was an awesome episode.

If deegan continues to progress the way he is he’ll be ready for the 450s by next summer. Deegan is the one guy that will actually race Jett aggressively. He’s going to be a problem in the 450 class and Jett fans look nervous. Otherwise why not just say, as a Jett fan, come on up and race the 450s. It’s always “he’s not going to be on Jett’s level”, yet deegan keeps proving EVERY HATER wrong the last year. Why wouldn’t he continue that? lol

Deegs is a beast. So rare to see a kid so driven and has the balls out talent to just crush those late moto lap times. Plus he's hard as nails. When he crashes he doesn't quit because in his mind he knows he can still get to the front. Danger Boy is the real deal.

Because they’re basing his (Haiden) character off the videos they watched of him. They think he’s a cocky arrogant rich kid & they’re jealous of him. Of course they won’t admit they’re jealous of him, but if you debate/question them on why they hate him, you can tell they’re jealous.

There is a huge difference between wanting to win and actually doing whatever it takes to win.... including holding the throttle open when everyone else is on the brakes.... at the end of a 30 minute moto. I enjoy watching his riding progress and confidence grow. It's a lot of fun! I think he should move up to 450 after he has won all the 250 hardware... however long that takes is completely up to him or whoever can beat him.

You’re not wrong, but look at all the other guys he is racing, and look who is winning 450 races. They got out as fast as possible, meanwhile most of the guys in the 250 class are still there chasing a chance at a title, and KEEP getting hurt. Deegan is amazing on the 250, but I feel like he may get too comfortable, to strong, over ride the bike, and end up on the ground. And then he could work really hard to try and get back to where he was at, and get slammed again. The 450 has a way of humbling you in a good way is the point I’m trying to make!

Idgaf if you like the kid or not....hes got IT. whatever 'it' is, he has it. I grew up a poor kid in central Iowa. My family wasmt into moto, they hated it. Id have to ride my 10speed to the track in Adel, just to watch the races. Didnt get my own bike until i was 16, and didnt race until i was an adult. But from the time i was 12-16 i spent a lot of time at the track. Deegan and Pederson were there and since i was buddies with the race promoter i had a chance to be in the pits before and after gates were opened. One year for the Dallas County fair, i approached Brian, asking for an autograph and it didmt go well for me. The culture was different back then, and a lot of racers thought it was cool to act like punks, even to 12 year olds. The point of the story is this: we all change, we all make mistakes in life, and we all are given the opportunity to become better people, and even better examples to the next generation. Enter Haiden Deegan: that youmg man seems to ALWAYS make as much time as he can for little kids. He is always signing, smiling, and taking photos if time allows. Brian, well done bub. I was never a big fan of yours after our encounter, and that rolled over into Haiden as an amateur. After seeing how Haiden interacts with the kids, ive done a 180. Last year at Charlotte for the playoffs i sat there, from a distance and saw for myself what that young man does for the fans. Some things can not be purchased. Integrity is one of those attributes. Being fast on a dirt bike is great and all, but can you put the same amount of effort into the fans? Thats what makes superstars. There have been lots of fast guys over the years who've had the personality of a russet potato, it sure is nice to see a young man with the talent, the work ethic AND integrity. Whether Haiden wins, or not, he has a HUGE fan base. If you've spent this much time ready, it should be said, half the reason im writing this is just to put it out there into the ethos. Ive held a chip on my shoulder towards Brian, and it might have beem warranted but at the end of the day, i can seenthat brian has instilled a different attitude and approach into Haiden. Just goes to show, we can all grow and evolve.

I think Haiden may dabble in a few 450 races next season to get a bearing on where he stands. I'd love to see him give it a shot if he can wrap up the outdoor title early. In a couple of years he will be ready for the 450 and challenge Jett and the boys, but right now it would be a S*** show for him to go 450. He need to gain experience and strength before moving up. For what its worth (and its not much) I like the Haiden I see on the craigs page, which is how this guy describes him. But the deegan I see in the post race interviews isnt that, and it bothers me because it seems like an act, like his dad is telling him to be that way because thats what he did back in his day to build the brand, and its off putting. He is a hell of a rider though.

Calling it now, and I don’t wish this on him, but I feel like Haiden might sustain a serious injury because of how much on the edge he rides. Dude sends it every race almost every lap.
