The only other commentator that was actually enjoyable to listen to in my opinion was grant langston. And the only sport where commentating plays a significant role is ufc. the reason RC in the booth never bothered me much is because its normal to be so good at one thing and horrible at a bunch of other things. i care more that the guy still stays involved in the sport and knows what he's talking about, than how he does his job now. i liked how at Southwick he says, "oh hey i fell in that same corner in 2006!" or whatever. that's cool history you wont get from a non racer who might be a good announcer. i couldn't stand the joke the 80's announcers made of the sport... sure it was funny at times, but also annoying when there was so much more to be said. you can tell if its a racer talking. just show me how to be a better racer and lets enjoy the sport we love... either watching or riding.

    I am a new moto fan this year, but not new to racing. I have noticed that in pretty much any motorsport when people are passionate about a series it can sometimes come across as negative but this is often just because they care deeply about it and want to see it succeed and bring in tons of fans. Because they observe so closely they can identify issues that casual fans might miss. They can also see the potential and are very aware of the gap between 'could be' and 'is'. Keep it up but do remember that you are kind of an ambassador to the sport. Tough love is okay. I like your videos.

    I've been watching dirt bike racing since Rick Johnson era. I am a huge fan of Supercross and Outdoors. I think you're very knowledgeable in the sport and there are different layers of negativity. Letting us know some of the drama behind the curtain is good. But I think you should speak more about the event that day and the Riders. And possibly try to get interviews with the Riders. IMO. Love your show.

    Here's my observation from being involved since 1970. I have seen the evolution of the motorcycles and the bikes have become so good now they don't fit in a stadium setting like they did in the 70s and 80s. Watch the races from that era compared to today. Riders are much better now too. Maybe the tracks could have obstacles like endurocross to make races more unpredictable and not be just a drag race to the first turn. But you are right about having ONE camera angle on the start with 4 or 5 bubbles naming the key riders. It's important to me to be able to watch the rider(s) on the line and their start.Changing cameras in the middle of the gate drop is SO annoying! Super slow motion of how a first turn crash develops would be cool.

It’s pretty low rent an not very loyal to a rider that has brought you as a company a lot of success. Hey Cookie, thanks for the videos (they take a lot of time and once they are out there, you can't take them back) :) However don't beat yourself up about it, it sounds like at the time you thought it was the way to do things. It is very easy to look for some dirt to report on, but unfortunately that is all you will find, some dirt. Most sports have a lot of politics and behind the scenes manipulating by those with the power and money. A good rule of thumb, before you say something about someone is, would you like it if they said that about you? Try and make your video titles a bit more mysterious and you will get a lot more views, you know let people think you have ALL the latest scoops and then surprise them with some amazing first-hand info, others have not reported on. Also, If you report on 2 positive things every time, soon the negativity will look silly to you and it will disappear. Overall I think you are doing a great job, keep it going :) Us Saffas don't get to down on ourselves, because in our country we don't have half the opportunities you have in the states.

    I'm sorry to hear about the negative energy in your life, I'm going through it too, stand tall brother. Do you think we see a better and faster Cooper, at star Yamaha? This seems to be the twilight of his career, he obviously wasn't happy in the KTM tent, but I don't think Webb is the kind of guy to sabotage his results, especially after going back to the baker factory. So, did we not know at the time that 2021 was his peak? Maybe Yamaha is a better fit, but I have a hard time picturing Cooper getting much better results, especially with all the new talent in the class. Not to mention, Tomac's coming back at some point, I don't know that coopers going to find the story book ending that he may be searching for.

    I understand both sides of RC qualifying things he says as an opinion. I consider it, him qualifying, being unnecessary because anything he says is his opinion, feelings, truth, whatever you wanna call it. It doesn’t bother me either way though. I’m sure it doesn’t bother a lot of other people and others I’m sure it does. It obviously bothers you or you wouldn’t have brought it up and that’s perfectly fine. If everyone thought the same then the world would be a dull Fn place! 🤘🏻

  • @seanhaberman4619

    @seanhaberman4619

    Жыл бұрын

    It's way more than the qualifying thing. He hit on some other issues that go along with it and I think he settled on that phrase because he was struggling to articulate what his issue was. The problem with Ricky in the booth is he never says anything that isn't completely white washed and insincere. He does this absolutely cringey thing where he tries to build up these riders that are getting their asses handed to them and just panders to everyone's feelings. He sounds like a little league broadcaster handing out 'atta boys to children. There are races where everyone can see a guy is having problems and Ricky refuses to say anything about it, he makes weird long winded excuses for them and refuses to say anything of meaning. Then there's the irrelevant anecdotes he tries to tie in to every broadcast instead of commentating on the race. He gets lost in his own thoughts while he should be giving us play by play. He could easily identify where guys are losing time or where they could make a pass but he doesn't want to step on anyone's toes or say anything negative because he's just a corporate guy now. He's completely owned by the promoters of the sport and won't say anything that might come across as negative. That's why James telling Chase to tuck the front wheel was so great. It was an honest take that may not have been nice but was at least genuine. Stewart talks about the race like a racer. Motocross hasn't been screwed up by the no child left behind everyone gets a trophy bull shit that other sports have in this country. There's respect in motocross, but it's an individual sport where your results are what earn you that respect. It's not like baseball or football where every bench warmer gets the same trophy as the star of the team. Go watch mxgp and listen to their commentators, they talk about the race and how the riders are doing in it. They tell you who is doing good, who isn't, and try to give you the reason why. It's much better than Ricky handing out pats on the back while he talks about the good old days.

    Idk why dudes got such a hard on for Carmichael. RC isn’t supposed to be the perfect speaker, he’s there to tell us what’s happening. Which he does well. How do you self reflect by someone outside of yourself telling you? Self reflection is when you know yourself and not how people see you to influence your decisions on how you change. Men must be willing to stand alone without fear of outside perception.

    @@CookseyMedia I know Cooksey, I saw this in your monolague. I am a subscriber to your chanel to hear your impressions and thoughts and breakdowns. Your "friend" triggered a thought where you second guessed the way you cover the sport. If it was self reflection you would have noticed where you were wrong or lying to yourself by looking within, not by being influenced from outside yourself. I am still a subscriber and look foward to "your" content on the sport.

    You are much better at reporting than "negative Nancy" Walty. He is annoyingly down on the whole industry. You have good things to say, just might harp on it a little longer than needed.

    Grammar is imprinted early in life and becomes a habit. Me and him or her and I are often heard from people who grew up hearing it and is difficult to overcome. I’m not saying that reflects on R C, just a general observation.

    Don't care what Webb does, I'm happy to see guys like Masterpool giving it their all in the outdoors. WSX is cool but I really don't like the tiny tracks so far. I hope they get some bigger places to race. The 250 outdoor class has the potential to be a nail biter the rest of the season, I hope Hunter can pull it out. Ricky is not good in the booth and when there are three guys chattering away I have to turn the volume way down and just watch the race.The constant commentary just ruins it. Cooksey, continue to be honest but don't drown yourself on the negative side.

    Was it last summer Webb was doing local races instead of Pro Nationals and was not lapping guys. I think Marshall beat him. I am sure KTM liked that.

    I think the commentators have so much pressure on them these days nobody can do a great job. If they would let Bubba and rc naturally call the race they would be great. The racing is great. We don't need storylines like pro wrestling!
