I play a Magic the Gathering Online Legacy league with Simic Turbo Stasis, a deck from Patreon subscriber Swan! This deck uses Root Maze to tap everything, Stasis to keep everything tapped, Forsaken City to pay for Stasis, and Urza's Saga to find Black Vise for the win! That's right... the goal is to not play any Magic at all! Hurry up and freeze! Control-combo MTG

In round three, at 31:30 your opponent plays pithing needle naming urza's saga. Then, you search with urza's saga, and realize you no longer have any targets to fetch at 32:14. Then you play a useless urza's saga at 33:00, instead of pitching it to the forsaken city. This makes you "a card short" at 34:30. It's not a brainstorm mistake, its the saga play.

Round two, you kinda got tunnel vision from 24:20- 26:30. You could have end of turn brainstormed on two different turns. While you would have died to double bolt, you were trying to find a four outer out of 42, and spending blue on their turn meant you would have an extra blue for either fluster or that final brainstorm that was in your hand when you conceded. You also could have grabbed another island instead of a second saga- yes, if they wasteland you there's not a quick route to black vise, but it does let you have enough blue to cantrip one more time. Once they are in the lock, you can get vise eventually.

I’ve been playing stasis in paper magic since the 90s. This, meaning root maze with spirit guide, is the best build, and it was the probably the only deck to get better when they unbanned black vise. Unfortunately, force of vigor being a popular side board card is an unsolvable problem. I like to think I put Abolish in side boards for legacy tournaments in the Tri-City area in the early 2000’s.

Would a 1-of As Foretold potentially take over a game? Also, I see Kiora, Master of the Depths not cast much due to always being behind on tempo, but wouldn’t any planeswalker at all be very powerful when Stasis hits? Kiora Behemoth Beckoner can untap a land up to 7 times would that be enough? Jace Beleren is like Howling Mine that can also mill them out. Garruk Wildspeaker can untap lands and also attack them to death since he untaps more than one Island at a time. Tamiyo, Compleated Sage can be a Stasis or Root Maze from your graveyard. And another thought is if you can cast a 4 mana spell why not cast Cryptic Command which can tap their team and/or bounce a problem permanent, and if you slam Stasis right after those permanents don’t matter anymore.

Love these Stasis decks! I’ve been kicking around the idea of Including Stern Dismissal somewhere in the deck. It kills construct and Marit Lage tokens, tempos Murktide and other expensive creatures, and it can insulate Root Maze and Stasis from removal. My favorite part is that if needed you could run out a Stasis without the full lock just to slow the game down and make land drops and then end step bounce it, untap all your permanents, play your lock pieces, and then replay the Stasis.

worst case you can bounce your own stasis in their end step, letting you untap your lands and replay stasis on your own turn Similarly, even if they sac a land to bounce stasis they just paid to let you untap your lands. You don't want to bounce their stuff if you already have root maze (unless you have green mana in hand) or vise on board. At the point that you have all of these out then chain doesn't matter because you've already won.

Is the reason you're running Preordain over Ponder that raw card selection is just THAT important in this deck, and you don't ever want to reset a scry with a Ponder shuffle? That's all I can think of for why to run a cantrip that on average sees fewer cards.

To be honest the issue with the 2nd delver player was just not finding Stasis in the top 20 cards of your deck each time. Deck feels like it needs an enchantment tutor of some form. I am not sure about crop rotation honestly as if you get the lock you have legitimately 15 turns in which you could draw an urza's saga. Feel there is something cool here but needs more tuning.

Depending on how pedantic you want to be, you could reasonably assert that "octopodes" is the correct plural, but most linguists (who would likely say that language is not prescriptive) would say that any of the three pronunciations are "correct" (i.e. valid)
