God, that white plume stasis deck was one of my favorites. Glad to see a revisit post ban

Love the content, as always, but I have to say my favorite Stasis build was the Root Maze one - can't wait to see it again sometime!

Stasis has been one of my favorite cards since the days of Stasis + Kismet + Time Elemental being viable...then Tradewind Rider came along and made me even happier! Just TwR, Stasis, Boomerang, Mana Dorks, Sinkhole if I was feeling extra spicy (I almost always was)...Too bad Tradewind is no bueno now because that lil' guy turned opponents faces every color of red! Just bounce/destroy all the lands until you could set up the Tradewind + Stasis lock. Fun times, fun times...

Your original stasis video is what got me watching your channel! Good stuff!

My first tournament deck was a stasis + kismet deck. Either winning through a Bird with instill energy or a chronotog eating my turns... I lost to smokestack and tanglewire in every match :(

Reset was a really good card for Stasis decks back in the day. A friend of mine built one with Isochron Scepter to untap all lands every turn.

This was fun! I’d like for you to make your own Stasis deck.

I too dug deep at Scryfall some months ago with the same mission, landed on Merrow Commerce and Kiora's Follower. I think those might have potential but never got to build the deck. 😅

Today has been somewhat dicey of a day for me. But it is Monday. Thus, I knew a new Bosh vid is released. This is solid news. Then I see that the subject of this transmission is Simic Planeswalker Prison. FUCK YES. Day improves.

I remember playing Mist of Stagnation as a different flavour of Stasis, would recommend. It also allows for the Seedborn Muse style of effect that Brian was talking about in the deck tech, because it's worded in an extremely specific way lol

When I'd built it like 17 years ago, it was using 4 phyrexian furnace and 4 scrabbling claws, so I had to tell my opponents that they weren't allowed to reorder their graveyard, since it technically mattered. You wouldn't believe the faces people would make trying to figure out what in the unholy jank I was playing that could possibly have that kind of effect lmaoooo

I love stasis. What a fun puzzle

they could print a 3 mana 1/3 that says "at the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, untap a creature you control" into standard and it would be fine, and it's all i've wished for since they banned white plume. white plume stasis was such a fun deck. it's a shame it had to die for initiative's sins.

Haven’t made it through the deck tech yet, but could The Thirteenth Doctor work in some way since it untaps at the end step? You’d have to do something with counters on creatures, which is probably not ideal for legacy.

The fifth doctor is also a consideration due to the fact that we dont have to mess around with counters but one more mana over the Thirteenth might be a deal breaker. Also the fifth also buffs the creatures as well. Guess we will have to wait and see if those cards come to mtgo.

could the newish 3 mana Tyvar planeswalker be the truth? that is an untap target creature +1 ability and can even bring back the mana dork from the graveyard untapped as a -2 ability??

Yeah I’ve played that before, was trying to use normal lands and rangers for this build but may have strayed too far from Garfield’s path

What about wilderness reclamation or is it yo slow? (My guess is yes but i didnt try it haha)

I would like to point out that Urtet, Remnant of Memnarch untaps all your Myr at the beginning of your *combat* step; more restrictive than Murkfiend Liege, but there are at least three that make blue mana. The 2/3 cost is kinda killer, though. There's also the significantly easier Wilderness Reclamation, which just gives you your lands back outright; I can't imagine that wasn't considered, though.

For 4 mana, Garruk is probably a better way to untap your lands, I reckon.

It's surprisingly hard to phase out an enchantment at instant speed. I wonder if that's not an accident.

I think it costs the same and is generally less powerful than the 4 mana planeswalkers the deck can run.

I literally watched the deck tech, saw no root maze, and predicted that he'd have a bad time. :( only one game in so far, excited to watch the slog.

Because it’s a 4 mana card that is worse than any planeswalker. I do go on at length about not playing root maze during an early round.

Could court of cunning have value as a sideboard wincon in this deck? Seems like the mill and card advantage would be good when you're stable. It provides a lightning rod for enchantment removal to pave the way for stasis as well :)

It always feels like such a shame, seeing people play Stasis without playing Teferi, Master of Time. You can use him to mega-exile problematic threats, both on your own turn and on your opponent's turn. TWSTS is also probably a winning card in Stasis.

Maybe Carpet of Flowers wouldn’t be terrible

Also thought abut that. simply using spreading seas to guarantee extra mana against any deck but unfortunately it simply doesn't work because carpet adds mana on the main phase, while stasis requires it on upkeep.

You have to make a lot of manabase concessions for it, but Jorn, God of Winter allows you to untap all your basics (and maybe some duals, if you're willing to play snow duals) so long as he can attack. He even untaps himself. Jorn Stasis is a somewhat fringe cEDH list that runs a lot of the "Sorry, no untaps" and leverages Jorn to break parity.

my cEDH deck (Derevi) has stasis (and white plume), but could be an avenue to explore if headed to Bant (edit: wargate for two is hilarious, is it Grand Abolisher? Collector Ouphe? No one expects the Stasis)

Wilderness Rec? Youve probably seen it 100 times on scryfall and have a reason not to play it

If the plan is to move away from x-1 I would say it is. You would need more lands in the deck

i have not watched any of the video yet, but oh how i love murkfiend liege and how i wish it would show up on the boshnroll channel someday

sorry but how about simply Teferi hero of Dominaria ? his +1 does it. It's an easy 2 cards combo, and Teferi is a pretty good card by itself. Ok it costs 5 but in any UW control shell it shouldn't really be a big deal. Actually I believe it may even be competive. get to turn 6 with Teferi on the board, untap, play stasis... good luck to your opponent on getting rid of it before Teferi ultimates. Definetely simpler and better than any dorkish based strategy that now with orcish bowmaster in the meta ain't just viable anymore.

With all those dorks you coulda played the blue Kismet
