*I Weighed 310 at my highest and 190 and my lowest (lost 120lbs! within 6 months) I had saggy bingo arms tho they werent even bad, **weightlose.fitness** i just lacked muscle and didnt work out. and could easily be toned by working out, which i have been doing and ive seen great results quick. I do have a lil extra pudge on my stomach and plenty of stretchmarks which have faded. Strength training is the best way to go for faster results, better results, and you'll love going to the gym more than if you were to do cardio alone. Do not worry about sagging skin - deal with it when you get there because you'll be way happier at your goal weight with some extra skin compared to where you begin!*

I am 190 I always been 145 my whole life at one point lower than that I've gained over 50 lbs in the last 4 years and now that I am engaged I am wanting more to be healthy again. kzread.infoUgkx5VQ5nUzHu6i0O5_u7ipyLnCz0lbsSvr0 I am not fat but I am thick and have muscle. I am very close to how you were but a lil smaller but I am so sick people making comments to me like I'm huge or like you said having shorts that used to be so cute on me and now I can't even find a pair to fit me. I used to love shopping now I don't even want to go to the store and if I do I pick the biggest size don't even try it on and deal with it. I went from size 5 to size idk because I don't even want to know the real number. I hate looking at pics of myself now or me before. thank you for your video it's time to make a change.

Also another way to prevent over eating is whenever you feel hungry throughout the day, often it's because you're actually thirsty. So when you feel hungry have a glass of water and if you still feel hungry afterwards then eat. Sometimes our body tricks us into thinking were hungry when really we just need hydration!

People don't realize that just because you aren't feeling thirsty that doesn't mean you aren't dehydrated. A glass of water every hour or so may make you pee a little more, but it will keep you from getting super dehydrated which can make you feel sluggish or have stomach cramps. Hydration is important and if left unchecked being dehydrated can put you in the hospital.

Shannon Hayden Hmm...guys...don't overdo it with the water. Please... There is such a thing as excessive water intake. That basically makes you pee out your electrolytes, and you will feel paradoxically dehydrated because there is too much water flushing out your system. If the pee is colorless, you are drinking too much.

this is was a very interesting video. understanding ourselves is the first step to losing weight. I love how you provide us with not only tips but also real information. I've a food obsession and i'm trying really hard to overcome it by taking baby step. My current struggle is *sense hunger*. When i see someone eating junk food on tv, i immediately want to eat some as well and i stay angry (real ANGER) until i don't eat something. A few weeks ago, seeing someone eating pizza on tv triggered me and since i had no junk food at home, i had to binge on fruits and whole wheat bread until i felt full. I couldn't think of anything else as soon as i saw that piece of pizza. It was a really weird moment and i'm thankful i only had healthy food at home, otherwise i know i wouldn't have binged on crappy food.

+skyrab87 to get over food obsession is not easy. i will try to give you tips based on what i learned but i'm just a regular woman trying to get healthy. 1) *learn to love ingredients and not meals*. I avoid every processed food because that's addictive and too easy to consume. Want pizza or burgers? don't order, make your own. Doing the effort of cooking makes you more aware of what you put in your body, it gives you a healthier alternative and also it prevents you from "grabbing cookies from the pantry because you were bored". Want cookies? get up and make them. I'm a lazy bum so in the end, i always settle for fruits or chopped raw veggies. 2) *diversify food*. always try to incorporate new things in your grocery list. try agave syrup instead of sugar. try kaki fruit instead of cake. try roasted cheakpeas instead of chips. try herbs and spice instead of sauces. the more choices you'll have in your diet, the less you'll obsess over a few meals you already love. I used to crave chocolate ALL THE TIME because it was my main source of sweetness. now i eat various dry fruits and hence, less chocolate. 3) *drink a lot of water*/tea/sugar free lemonade all day long. sometimes we think we're hungry when we're just thirsty. i'm NOT saying to try to eliminate real physical hunger with water. but if you drink 2L of water throughout the day, you won't feel like snacking between meals and you won't overeat. 4) *be really aware of your feelings*. talk to yourself, listen to yourself, write down your thoughts and emotions. read it a few days later, see the patterns that are repeating themselves, try to figure out the root of the problem. i know it sounds cliché but being aware of our struggles is the way to knock them down. otherwise we're just shooting in the dark, hoping for results. What i discovered about myself is that i binge eat when i'm stressed because i feel in danger, hence my instinct tells me to put food(fuel) in my body. what i had to do is to prevent myself to get stressed. and when i get stressed, i tell myself that food is not the answer. 5) *have plenty of healthy foods* to binge on when you can't control yourself. as i said in my first comment, despite my efforts, sometimes i'm triggered and i can't control myself. when that happen, i'd rather binge on oatmeal and dried fruits than cake and cookies. on the same note, don't keep food you can't resist in your pantries. 6) *treat yourself*. if you're drinking coffee with a friend and you want a piece of cake, order it. it's okay. food is not evil. food is just food and it's okay to have a piece of cake once in a while. if you want to treat yourself at home, but you're scared it'll turn into a binge session, eat 2 apples before having your piece of cake so that you feel full already. If you want fried chicken, allow yourself to have it but only after you have eaten a full plate of veggies. if you crave chips, have some but only after you've eaten a 2 piece of whole wheat bread. 7) *get moving*. and i'm not talking about a 5K or a work out session. When you notice you're obsessing over food even though you know you don't NEED to eat, just get up and take a few steps. Call a friend to have a chat. Go in the next room and clean it up. take a walk around the block. Turn the tv on. Write down your feelings, be honest too. Breathe. Eat a fruit or a yogurt. go in your garden and sit there. anything to calm down the anger and be at peace. sorry that was long. that's all i have for now. I hope it helps.

+Joanna Soh hi I'm looking to ask a question. I'm 19 and have a one year old daughter ( young mum I know ) but before I fell pregnant I had dropped a lot of weight and was happy with my body I have always been an odd eater I tend to only eat real food when I'm physically hungry wich iv been told is bad since my body can go two to 3 days without feeling hungry . sometimes I will habit eat on big bars of chocolate and cakes. I also have a Caffeine addiction I drink so meny cans of energy juice per day that I barely sleep at night so then end up eating more through the night ( I'm trying to get off them but the doctor explains my body is addicted so I need to slowly cut down) when I do eat it is always large potlrtions and always frozen chicken or cheesy macaroni. I struggle eating healthy foods as I'm a very fussy eater with both tastes and textures I keep watching all these videos that say if you want your metabolism to work you have to eat regularly or your body won't get into a pattern and will just store all the fat up when you do eat ? any advice would be appreciated I know my situation is a tricky one but my weight is getting far to out of hand and I'm starting to get depressed and not even want to go outside because of my size

+Jude Byres I suggest you do a research on candida - its a bacteria in our body that feeds on sugar and we do need it but if we eat too much sugar we cause candida overgrowth in our system and this leads to whole lot of health issues (and weight gain - because candida is overgrowing it wants more and more sugar so it sends hunger/craving signals to your brain to make you feed it). If you cant hold back from sugary stuff (and basically all the processed food is packed with sugar, even pizza!) thats a big sign you have a candida 'epidemy'.. After you do your research on the candida and think its the reason behind your problems, read this article: liveenergized.com/cleanse-detox/alkaline-guide-to-the-candida-cleanse/ Its your body, dont let the candida control you! Fighting!

Hi Joanna! I just wanted to let you know, that I have been following your videos and tips for about a year now. And I have gone from: constantly eating (and I mean all the time, no breaks) Over eating (instead of eating only a portion I ate 2 or maybe even 3) Eating a bag of candy everyday (A WHOLE BAG) + soda Eating bad, processed foods or take out. To now actually eating well!: I don't crave candy. (or soda) I eat vegetables and low fat meats. I only eat when im hungry I eat slowly, so I wont be too full. I drink water. Your videos have really changed my life! And Im happy that I found you and your channel before it got too much out of hand! It took me a whole year to change my eating habits (by baby steps) but Im finally eating healthy, and I feel alot better about it now!! So thank you SOO much Joanna!! Great information! My emotional hunger is spicy food. I crave for spicy noodles when I feel stressed or before my period. So I don't buy ramen in bulk and store them at home. If I really really want it, I go to a convenient store to buy ONE. This has helped me prevent impulsive eating. Also, I found out that I tend to feel hungry when I watch my favorite cooking show on Monday nights. So I make sure I eat enough before watching the show. Listening to my body and identifying my eating patterns helps me eat mindfully and maintain my weight.

i eat a vegan diet but i eat what might be considerd "vegan junk food". I dont feel as bad as i did when i ate omnivorus junk food, but its still not the best feeling. I found this video very helpful, and I will try to eat more nutritiously instead of just "junk food".

Hey Joanna! I really love your videos, you are the one who talks about these things in a way I can understand very well. When I am preparing for my exams I am so nervous I always have to eat or just snack something while I am studying but I replaced these to a bottle of water and I am taking sips of it instead of having a bite of something and it seems like it's working!! Also this way I have my daily water intake! Thank you for everything You helped me a lot!! :)

This was a great video Joanna that I randomly stumbled across. I have made major changes in my eating habits and have got myself in very good shape. But still looking to bring it to an even higher level. I can definitely relate to the habitual and emotional eating. I look forward to viewing more of your videos. :)

Joanna, this video popped up while browsing through ur channel. Very well explained. Though being a doctor, I was not aware of so many types of hunger and really it gives you much insight into the reason for getting hungry. Most of the times, the food - type, quantity or timing can be avoided if you have clear idea about why u r eating that food. Appreciate your video 😊
