@@oblivious108 Practice. Take yourself away to somewhere calm and still your mind. Think hard. Write down 3 positive things. They could be aspirational things if you cannot think of current things. Make these your goal. The act of writing them down will cement them in your mind. Now practice catching a negative thought and conjuring the positive ideas over the top. Visualise the paper (or even look at it to start with). Carry that bit of paper with you. Make it part of you. You will start to change. Then move on to some more positive thoughts. You can also work on debunking negative thoughts. Ask if a negative thought is serving you well. If not then realise you have the power not to listen to it. You can choose another thought. Give yourself this power and you will see if works.

I also have a gall bladder malfunction and advised by the doctor to have a gall bladder removal operation soon. I miss my old self and I am having a hard time bringing back those positivity in me. Thinking positive changes the neural pathways in our brains. When something bad happens, it only happens in an instant, after that we just repeat the story over and over in our heads, it's the story we tell ourselves that will positively or negatively effect our lives. don't keep rewinding and replaying the event, change the video. The more you practice, the easier it gets. The brain has plasticity, you can change it, but the longer you have maintained negative thought patterns, the more practice required. Scientific research shows this to be true, so don't give up!

“People don’t do the discipline.” So true. It is easier and ironically more comfortable to stay stuck in negativity. Four years ago I began a journey of self-improvement. I still hit bumps in the road. But I acknowledge them and tell myself: move forward, do the work. Thanks for this reaffirming video.

Brendon helped me realize something important. I've been allowing my negative thoughts to roam my mind for so long that positive thinking seems unnatural. For so long I've been expecting the worst to happen that when I now think of the best outcomes it feels totally foreign now. It feels like I am being too optimistic and unrealistic. I am actually now getting use to the fact that my mind should be dominated with positive thought and that having those positive thoughts and visualizing positive outcomes is very much okay. *It's okay because I am worthy of having good things happen to me and you are too.*

He is right about learning to discipline your mind and learning to focus. I think his method is still a little complicated, though. I just started really focusing on the present moment, really doing one thing at a time, no multitasking. This kept me from ruminating about regrets or worrying about the future. Trying to forcibly think positive thoughts never did help, neither did analyzing the thoughts that were drifting through my mind. As soon as l notice I'm not focused on the present, l reel in my mind and concentrate on what is happening right now. If l'm washing dishes, l focus on the warm slippery feel of the dishwater, the hot water flowing over my hands as l rinse them. Maybe l focus on the irridescence of the soap bubbles. If l'm watching tv, l try to get into the storyline, or the dancers, or the sports. I tried many techniques throughout my 70 years, but this staying in the present moment and really directing my thoughts instead of letting them carry me down negative rabbit trails, is what has helped me most and in the shortest amount of time. The guy in this video is high energy and didn't appeal to me when l was so depressed l could barely get myself out of bed. But even in the most depressed state you can learn to focus on the present moment, even if it's only thinking about how soft the sheets are, or how comfy the pillow is, or how the light is filtering through the window. Just focus on the current sensations of your body or planning simple beneficial actions for yourself or others. Eckart Tolle's books and videos have also been helpful.

Optimism and gratitude are changing the way I see my life for the better. It has been a couple weeks without feeling afraid, worried or stressed. One thing (even if not the ideal thing) leads to the next. If I make the most and do the best with what I have and what comes to me more will be given (until one day I have the things I would like most). I've stopped watching tv and started watching empowering informative videos on youtube. I'm sharing this hoping someone who needs this info will read this and try implementing it. Good luck to all people all over the world. I wish you happiness, joy, contentment, peace and most importantly love and acceptance.

I really appreciate that the message is not "negative thoughts are bad", but rather FOCUSING on negative thoughts is bad. For the longest time I felt like "positive thinking" meant not thinking negatively - when I accepted that it is perfectly fine to have negative thoughts, just not to dwell on them, they suddenly lost so much of their power and it was so much easier to focus on positive thoughts and as the saying goes, what we focus on grows.

Second: come up with three words to describe ideal self And focus on them as well Ex: Positive, Badass, Adorable. (I'm a positive badass and adorable) this is who I am Third: Take action you can't just label yourself a badass and call it a day, don't fake it till you make it, practice it till you make it! Ex: Workout, Cold showers, Be confident, Take action till your mind is automatically conditioned to understand That's just what we do, Badass by name Badass by nature! You always react to bad situations like this Ps you can actually condition your mind without knowing any thought other than simply behaving in a positive manner! Good positive thinking + Good positive action = The charged life Have a great day!

The only way I know how to interrupt rumination, is when you see you're in it: 1. Understand that you've been through something difficult and your brain is trying to protect you but it's not doing a good job, it's looping. Show empathy and understanding towards yourself. 2. Start sending your attention towards your senses and body in your here and now. Telling your brain :" processing information in the here in now is what's bests to protect me". 3. And then start imagining a beautiful scene. Take that experience and imagine how it would guide you in the future, for example passing on your experience to someone else . Or just imagine something beautiful you can create in the future. 4. And then repeat the same thing everytime you have these negative thoughts.

I'm here because despite the anti depressants, anti anxiety medications, I'm still struggling with trying to avoid the negative thoughts. Every morning I wake, there is sweat on my forehead and the weight of an elephant on my chest. My psychiatrist isn't helping my progress so now I'm drifting into a space where hopelessness resides. I've been here before and it's not where I want to be. I'm going to try the five questions method for a couple of weeks along with exercise to see if it helps. I'll report back in a few weeks. For now, these are my five questions. They may change in the future. 1. Is there still light burning within you? 2. Do you still desire experiences with people, places or things? 3. Do you have a good and empathic heart? 4. Do you have a friend or family who loves or cares for your well being? 5. Can you make just one person smile today?

Great video full of positivity. I used to be a free person just doing what I like and didn't really care about things I don't like, but one day I got anxiety and depression and suddenly my mind was mostly auto negative thinking. It's been a while since then and I'm still recovering. The real problem is consistency, sometimes I can stop negative thoughts and redirect my brain, and sometimes I get triggered and I start auto repeating negative thoughts. I'm going to try Brendon's advice and I think that's gonna work (Hey that's a positive thought).

Seerzy, I am a Christian as well, but they can believe what they want to believe. Jesus says in 1 Corinthians 8:5-6; “For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth-as indeed there are many “gods” and many “lords”- yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.”

He’s definitely on the right track. I used to suffer from depression and last year I almost gave in and ended it all. No amount of positive thinking could save me at that point because I was dealing with years worth of depression. What saved me and completely turned my life around? Jesus and Jesus alone. I had to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ and I meditated (forced myself to think upon) on His Word and what God’s Word says as far as who I really am. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”

This video made me feel a lot better. I tend to dwell a lot on certain things that I know I shouldn't be at such an important level as my brain thinks it is .. (I can't sleep, and it's late, but I'm really stuck in my thoughts here. Sorry.) What happens with me, if I'm feeling a certain way that makes me physically ill, I'll just keep feeding my brain more unhealthy thoughts, which will eventually just effect my mood for the entire day.. Which is really unfair to myself and to those around me.. I'm to the point where I think there is something mentally wrong with me... Like a disease.. I'm so bipolar and I like to obsess over the very thought that kills me.. But I've been working on myself a lot lately. This video helped me see things a little more clearly, and how much clearer I should see things. 😊 thank you!

***** yes, I'm doing a lot better now!! Self-acceptance to your self existence was the best thing I have ever discovered in my life. And it helped me grow into a young adult, and helped me learn that I'm just as human as anyone else, and I'll always be human. Everything I was ever scared of seems to have been removed from my brain. I'm no longer afraid of what I used to be afraid of, and I can live each day very happily. 😊 I've overcome so much, and I'm proud to say so! And thanks to the others who commented!

I've found myself complaining, feeling tired, talking about myself too much and feeling a victim lately. I know I can break out of this again with just some consistent effort. This is a great video to remind me to do that. You don't have to have some diagnosed illness before you start to improve your life. I feel one of the reasons we are here is to become more self aware and develop as a human being. Then not let anyone or anybody take that from you. Attend to yourself in this way and then you will find you have something authentic to give to others. I want to get back to that place.

We have the power over our minds. Sometimes we lose our way, or forget who we are. But deep down, we know the way. We know who we want to be. That is why we are here. But I‘ll tell you what: You are that person already. You just need to make your mind understand - like an adult would try to make a child understand. So be patient with yourself. You are nearly there.

Unbelievable, he gives you actual skills to practice, what I have been looking for. A lot of motivators give guidance on being a peace and being conscious and being aware, and not taking things personal, ect, but here are actual steps to actually practice. Knowing how the mind programs based on instinct and just having the power to change this realizing that not everything is a threat, ur mind is just trying to protect you with instinct, and through awareness and practice you can change this instinct, awesome way to look at it. Thank you!

On august, I had my first panic attack and ever since then I've been living with worry and fear. I've already figured things out and then and even so I started overthinking. There are times where I feel extremely happy and I feel like me again. And then there's times where the thoughts in my head constantly make it seem like a cycle I can't break out of. But the times where I'm happy is when I think positively, I don't worry and I just do things. And so I tried to focus on other things, keep myself busy. There are times where I feel amazing but there are times when I get distracted.

In life, many things don't go according to plan. If you fall, get back up. If you stumble, re-gain your balance, but whatever you do never give up. Accept what it is and improvise. Sitting around, weeping on the circumstances will not take you any place or change anything. ” …And never give up hope of Allāh’s Mercy. Certainly no one despairs of Allāh’s Mercy, except the people who disbelieve.” [Quran, Yusuf12:87]

Kawaii Potato Which religion change the people ‚from the outside‘ ? Lets take the 4 biggest religions in the world. The 3 monotheistic religions islam, judism and christianity have in comon that they have a single god who is allmighty and every single person has a special relationship to. If you want to go to heaven you must do what god tells you to do. Thats kinda something forced from outside but its the decision of the individual to follow it or not so its basically something that changes your inside. And that is how it works with pretty much every religion. It shows you how to live your life the best (according to own terms of religion) and lets the rest up to you. Same as Buddhism does. It tells you how you can live a fullfilling life and what you have to do. But it doesnt force anything. Its your decision to follow it or not. No religion changes you from outside. If you get changed from the outside its due to discrimination, force or fear. And this doesnt come from religion but from humans. Bad people who are to blame, not the religion.

I were hospitalised a few weeks ago because of hyperventilation. My mind got foggy, my breaths were quick and shallow, my hands and feet became numb. Doctors said that it was because I got too much stresses and I needed to relax. I then found out about ur videos, just like u said,I were stuck with negative thoughts. It imprinted in my mind, weakened my mental health to the point that I struggled to sleep just because of some small noises rats made on the street. I always imagined if there was a burglar breaking into my house...freaking irrational fears kept circling in my head... After seeing ur video, I have been trying to replace my negative thoughts with positive ones, meditating, asking myself those questions that reminds me to brighten my mood. It really works, something so simple, yet, it really helps me become stronger everyday. thank u so much!

Better questions to ask yourself to feel more happy and positive: How could I be grateful right now? How could I feel love right now? What do I like to do today? What I like to learn today? How can I make myself feel better? Look you're already feeling negative and you still wanna direct your energy outward? Those questions gonna deplete you more. Rephrase to something like (Imagine you're already feeling negative right now and you still wanna show love (a feeling/something you don't feel at the moment). But if you ask yourself more questions like this, it will help you feel more positive and happy about yourself. That's how you cure negative thinking. Help yourself to feel happy and positive about yourself. These are better questions to ask yourself on daily basis. Once your full, that's when you would feel the urge to show and share love to other people.
