HOW TO MIX and REFILL POSCA PAINT PENS- 5 Tips Make and Mix Your Own Colors with POSCA PAINT PENS

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

How to mix and refill your POSCA PAINT PENS marker by using these 5 easy tips and tricks. Make your own colors with POSCA PAINT PENS is taught by Hawaii Artist WELZIE. With over 20 years of experience using the POSCA PAINT PENS Welzie gives you lots of information on mixing colors and how to make your own colors successfully your first time.
Welzie’s artwork is shown throughout the Hawaiian Islands. He gained a grassroots following for his artwork when he started the popular Hawaii longboard brand Two Crows Surfboards. His unique approach to colors and the resin and fiberglass medium grabbed peoples attention.
Growing up Welzie was always making art inspired by his father who was a graphic designer. Going to UH Manoa Welzie studied art all while surfing and building boards and doing art on them for all the famous surfers on Oahu’s famous North Shore.
While making surfboards in his surfboard factory and spending less time in his studio painting acrylic on canvas, Welzie turned to fiberglass and resin as his medium to pursue his creative endeavorers.
Welzie’s work is collected and loved by people all over the world. His signature Art Gallery is at the Andaz Wailea on Maui where he is their Artist in Residence.

    You Rock! I’m stoked the video helped. That’s my goal. Posca, to my knowledge only makes acrylic paint markers. I hope I’m wrong so correct me if I am. The best oil based paint pens in my opinion is sharpie. Their colors and opacity seem to be the best. I don’t use oil pens often, so take my oil pen thoughts lightly. Have fun. Amazing!! Love these! If I can offer a little advice, you definitely don’t need to beat the nib of pen against something to prime it. You can gently push it down a few times and it will prime and be much easier on your nib. Thanks for your hard work. It’s appreciated

    I have tried twisting in both directions. Did they change the design of their new pens or something? Or is it just stuck on really tight? I even got pliers and now the plastic is slightly damaged 🙃 but still functional I have water brushes that also twist the opposite direction. I'm suspicious It's so that it's not as easy to take off concerning most people in the world are right-handed.

    I don't usually comment on anything much, but I just had to say thanks and give you some support. Firstly, great to see someone else trying to mix POSCA pens. So good when you don't have the colour you want. You had some really good ideas - I particularly like the mug idea (ask me how I know!!!) Secondly, a question. I've tried to do the same with the brush pens, cos I really like the brushes but they only come in 4 or 5 colours. Have you ever used the POSCA brushes? I can't seem to get them to come apart like the others. Anyway - thanks.

    Posca does make a pretty dark red. I think they make a total of 3 red variants. It’s hard to make a Posca darker without making it to dark. Try 1 small drop of black at a time. If you go to dark you won’t be able to get it brighter without adding a ton of paint. Good luck!

    To refill a posca pen which is empty can I dilute acrylic paint to refill? Or do I need to buy a special ink?

  • @WelzieArt

    @WelzieArt

    2 жыл бұрын

    Good question. I haven’t tried diluting acrylic paint to put in a posca pen. My guess it would be to thick to get out of the pen tip. If you dilute it it might end up being too watery. If you can dilute acrylic paint to the same consistency it might work. It’s worth a try because you’re out of posca ink anyway. Some paint pen brands do have refill ink available. Posca does not. Often the pen tips don’t last much longer than the amount of ink in them. I wish posca did sell refills. Aloha. Hope this helps 🤙🏼

    Sometimes the tips just dry out and the paint in the pen is still ok. You can check by taking off the cap, holding your thumb over the opening and flipping the pen upside down. If we’re paint is on your finger you will know it’s just a dried tip. Pull the tip out and rinse and soak in water till the dried ink is out. Then try again. This is a last ditch effort but it might work. If the tip is toast you can always get another unused pen and put it on the dried tip one. Good luck!
