I really liked the points about knowing the dimensions of pieces and where the hanging hardware is from the top of your piece. I’ve never thought of that before. 👍🏻

@@WelzieArt Great advice! I am a super new artist. I've been accepted to show my work at a local coffee shop. I don't know how to price my work. I've never sold my works as I enjoy giving them away. I am ok with selling enough to buy more product. Any advice on that?

Do you recommend getting liability insurance in case something were to happen in your booth at a fair or perhaps once someone gets your art home. Like say the hanging mechanism broke on the back and fell and injured someone or something? Thank you for your videos!

I do recommend getting liability insurance. I have it and have had it for a while. It’s not that much money and can really save you in a bad situation.

Hi! Thanks for doing this vid. Checked out your website. Your work is hella fun! Bright, whimsical & happy. The list of shows and awards you have amassed is VERY impressive!! I started several yrs ago doing abstract acrylic on canvas, various pouring techniques. I quickly became addicted! I have a lotta, lotta ‘freestyle’ type pieces, where the design or what have you didn’t come out as I had envisioned. And i’ll tell you what, 50% of my acrylic pieces, that fall under your freestyle category, have gone on to become some of my very faves. I too work w/ resin on Da Vinci multi-media panels. I then incorporate color crushed glass in various patterns. When I get website running I’ll post a link here for it. Two questions- one, what’s your fave brand resin and why? I’ve tried SO many. Think I finally found two ( Desert Rain Epoxy Company & Crystal Clear Epoxy Resin Kit Casting and Coating for River Table Tops, Art Resin) that don’t leave large amount microbubbles ( my nemesis lol) And two, How did you link up w/ your first coffee shop? Did you know the owners or was it a ‘cold call’ type of situation? Thank you thank you!

Great job on pursing your art! To answer your questions, first I use a polyester resin, not epoxy. I use poly for many reasons but the main reason is that I’ve been using it for over 20 years and just love the way I can sand and polish it. Second answer is that I hooked up with my first coffee shop through my roommate who was working there. I ate there a bunch and became friends with all the staff and owner. I waited my turn to use the wall and made sure the wall had all my best work and replaced pieces as soon as they sold. Hope this helps! Have fun and stay inspired 🤙🏼

@@WelzieArt I heard on another artists video regarding art shows/fairs that for the pic of booth you’re submitting for entry that it’s likely you will be excluded if you include your signage. I have never seen that in any of the show guidelines and find it strange that if that were the case that it would not be mentioned in guidelines. What do you think?

Best to read the guide lines and follow all the rules. Also be careful of who you take advise. Sometimes people give blanket advise for a unique situation that they were in. Who knows if their sign looked terrible, too big, etc. my suggestion is read the rules. Listen to what other artists have learned and give it a go. I have followed wrong advice plenty of times, especially doing shows overseas, and I would have been better off sticking to my basic plan. Don’t get discouraged. The first few shows are the hardest. Keep asking questions. Have fun and stay inspired 🤙🏼
