I really like the tip of separating your business and creating time. When I don’t separate this time myself I get so much less done if anything because I’m bouncing back and forth, such a good tip

Awesome I’m glad it helped. I bounce back and forth too much still and I’m wondering at the end of the day why. No art got made. Always learning and getting better. Stay inspired Aloha 🤙🏼

You are exactly who I need right now. I’m a watercolor artist and have been told my style is unique due to use of intense color and unusual composition. Ive also learned watercolor Batik which is very exciting and challenging. I’ve joined local art associations here in the New Orleans area, but do not paint French Quarter or swamp scenes lol. I’ve won prizes at local shows and am ready to try the big shows along the gulf coast your videos have given me the confidence and business plans to move forward. Thank you so much😉😉😉

It sure is. I recommend it to every artist I know. Should be mandatory reading in art school. Thanks for the comment. Stay inspired, aloha 🤙🏼

Really good video, Welzie. I have found that I am probably in that middle ground right now of not being a business yet (licence, etc) but am becoming more known especially online (YT especially). I don't read a ton on business, but that's just a priority problem I think, although I have 10+ years in sales elsewhere that isn't art driven at all. I feel like my business mind is there- I know my costs, have a website, market my videos as I release them (maybe don't pitch the website as often as I should) and am at the point where inventory of what I have is way outpacing what I am selling. I think in part because I was in sales, I hate to sound like a salesperson with my art. And being Canadian, maybe I'm just too polite to ask ;) Anyhow, I found the video to have kickstarted some thoughts around trying to 'sell' my art more, but as a rookie artist I think it may make me feel a little intimidated although I realize is necessary to get out of the hobbyist category I'm currently in.

Awesome! I’m stoked to hear it may have kickstarted a little movement into the sales. It’s not that you have to be a used car salesman. It’s just that you have to be not pushing away sales. Allow them to happen by doing a few things right. If you have a lot of inventory try doing an art fair or festival. They are fun and really help out in so many areas. Keep it up! Learn, make mistakes and grow. And always, stay inspired! Aloha 🤙🏼

Do you have a tips for art competitions? Do you have any opinion on the best backdrop to use for the photos you’re submitting? Thanks!

I’ve never done an art contest but My tip would be: Make your best work possible and present it the best possible way. Good luck! And remember contest don’t mean a thing. You can be a great artist and never win a contest. You can win a contest but never sell an art piece. Do the contest for fun to push you and your art forward, take it as a learning experience. Stay inspired 🤙🏼
