You take a picture of your painting, or scan it into a computer depending on the size. After that, you can upload it to a site that handles prints, or you can go to a physical print shop and give them your digital file. Hope this is helpful 🎉

Any place is a good place to start. Just make sure u can choose a place where you can post your art work all the time to market yourself and create noise. SIGN YOUR ARTOWRK ALWAYS. And set up an easy way to receive payments.

Also you could try local farmers markets, or ask coffee shops if you can hang your art in their store.

In the US: Do artists who sell need a permit in their state to sell so that they can collect taxes for each piece and pay quarterly taxes? Also do you suggest that a sole proprietor artist put a certain percentage of each sale away for taxes later? If so? What percentage should we put to the side?

It depends on how you set up your business. If you file as self-employed, then you will have to be taxed 15.2 percent of your income if you make $400 or more that year. As a self employed artist, you are also eligible for an earned income tax credit. My husband used to do taxes and we don’t itemize because we don’t keep our purchases separate. That keeps you out of trouble. I do however report things like my web hosting.

@@7prudent If you don't have any sales, you don't have to worry about filing now. Once you get sales, you file for that year. For example 2023 sales will be filed in January 2024. you have until April 15th to file.

@@nandinivyas7962 you should not try to sell online initially people will gonna scam you instead i would recommend you make a page of Instagram get some reach through reels then connect to local people tell them to advertise you then just put your arts online and also make art on demand
