The SX60HS has been an interesting experience for me. After the SX50HS (with it's appalling EVF) I switched to the SX60HS but, for some reason, never felt comfortable with it. Hard to define why even after years of digital photography experience. I then bought a Lumix FZ330 which has proved to be much more to my liking. I'm no fan of superzooming so the lesser capability of the Lumix was no problem. (On a recent holiday, I encountered a REAL, Grade One 'Zoombore' who lost interest in anyone if their camera wasn't capable of 1200 +. He also wandered around with his camera swinging everywhere on its neckstrap and with no lens cover or protector ... I think that says it all). Anyway, after a lot of to-ing and fro-ing between the SX and the FZ, I've come to the conclusion that for me the FZ wins out. Will still keep the SX but suspect it won't get much use in future.

The SX60 is a fine camera, but agreed, between that and the FZ330 (FZ300 is the US), the Panasonic is superior, especially with the 2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range and weather sealing. You don't get the crazy long zoom range, but that's a feature with limited applications.

No, the SX430 doesn't have any way of mounting filters or adapters.

No, it doesn't have filter threads or anywhere to securely mount an adapter. But you can take beautiful photos without any lens accessories... start with good lighting and a tripod, and you'll be surprised what that camera is capable of!

Yes. The threads of the adapter are 67mm. To attach any accessories that are not 67mm in diameter, you'll need a "step-down" adapter for the appropriate size. Keep in mind that if you attach an accessory that is smaller than 67mm, you will likely have a black circle around your photo that will need to be cropped out.

Hi! I am not at all versed in photography, but I have a few questions. I possess a Canon PowerShot SX400 IS. It takes an “okay” picture, but I’m looking to get a more focused picture. I’d like better action shots and the ability to take a photo with greater background blur (which honestly, this camera might do but I wouldn’t know how). I’ve heard that the lens matters most, but I don’t know if this is able to attach since it is not a DSLR camera and I cannot seem to find the bayonet grooves you speak of. Is there a way to do this with my camera? Should I even bother or should I suck it up and shell out the money for a new camera?

If you're looking for better action shots, a fast shutter speed is the most important factor, and the SX400 IS doesn't offer a manual shutter speed option or a "sports" mode for action shots. If action shots are your primary concern, then you should absolutely look for a more advanced camera. As for background blur, you can achieve nice blur simply by zooming in on your subject from a good distance, and make sure your subject is also far away from their background. This separation combined with the lens' focal length creates blur, but without fast shutter speeds at your disposal, it really only works well for portraits, and you'll definitely want to use a tripod.

So I have a Canon SX540 and I want to get a lens that has an aperture as low as f/1.8 or f/1.4. what lens should I buy?

You can't increase the size of your lens aperture on a fixed-lens camera like the SX540. You would need an interchangeable lens camera (DSLR or mirrorless) and you would need to buy a separate lens with the maximum aperture you want.

Saw the video, but can't for the life of me get the adapter properly attached. If I have the adapter oriented correctly (seems to require careful rotating of adapter while gently pushing adapter towards camera), I can get the adapter to slide on, but then it won't turn. I'm afraid to use too much force, but I think I'm giving a reasonable amount. Very frustrating!

The frustration you're experiencing is the reason we made this video in the first place, which is to say, you're not alone. In our experience, it requires a bit of force, but luckily you can just leave it on if you wish, and buy a separate lens cap that fits the filter so you don't have to do it again.

Thanks. I did finally manage. It took a little bit more force than I was comfortable with at first. While fiddling, at some point, some surface seemed to sort of slip & slide against another surface and then I could rotate and snap the adapter into place. I'm just leaving it on. If/when I need a filter, my camera will be ready for it. My existing lens cap still fits to cover the lens. Thanks again.

These will not fit on an SX510. Adapters for the SX510 are not very secure, since there is no mount on the front of the lens to hold it in place. You could try googling "SX510 filter adapter" but we do not sell or offer support for those items.

No, those will not fit. The SX60 doesn't have filter threads, and if you wish to attach filters (or any other accessories) you will need an adapter first. The adapter we carry (and most others, I imagine) has a 67mm diameter. Therefore you will need 67mm diameter filters.
