It's worse on rental cars, there's a whole process involving utility bills and a soft check when a customer uses a debit card, and as a rental agent you get yelled at a few times a week easily while trying to explain the difference between credit and debit cards. And there's limits on what vehicles can be rented. We'd call to confirm, especially on holiday weekends, that larger vehicle rentals needed a credit not debit, then get told we never called and were ruining customer's vacations

I work retail and another easy way to compliment us is to fill out the survey at the bottom of the receipt! Mentioning our name really does help us out, because it's in the system. I know you hear it all the time, but filling it out and mentioning us is really very helpful.

The closest experience I had to this was when I was in school. I walked towards my PE lessons and suddenly in a booming voice my teacher shouted out my full name and I bricked myself thinking I was in trouble before she started praising me highly for a project I did the week before and boadting how she was going to show it to parents during a presentation. I was somewhat happy after half of my life left my body from that boom alone.

I've done this before but because I'm an asshole I did it to scare the employee like this for fun before telling their boss they did real good. Even acted like I was pissed off at something and raised my voice a bit to really sell it before switching on my customer service face when their boss came around so I could compliment them.

My issue is the opposite of the hotel's. I travel with a service dog. She is highly trained and extremely well behaved. As in I can tell her to get something from another room and she'll bring it to me. Ask her to lift my leg into my wheelchair, that sort of thing. On several occasions while travailing I've come across hotel employees that decide I'm faking it to get my pet into the hotel. Let me be clear. I use a wheelchair, she's tethered to it. One women in Rome GA. actually stepped in front of us blocking me from entering the breakfast room. She told me animals weren't allowed in the restaurant. When told she was a service dog she insisted that wasn't possible because I wasn't blind. In short, people in the U.S. need more education on the subject.

I actually had that issue where I got to the resort and realized my room was like a 10 minute walk away from the main building (and unlike in the skit, there wasn't anything close to the room, it was just a huge resort hotel). I wasn't familiar with the resort at all when I booked it so I wasn't aware that the walk would be so far. So I politely asked for a room change, which they accommodated but I had to move to a different hotel within the massive resort, which was fine. They were really nice about it too.

That banging the head against the phone reminds me of a story my mother told me. Context, she works at a hospital ER department. Her desk is right next to the family room. Finally, people with schizophrenia sometimes latch onto businesses and institutions that are not allowed to hang up the phone so that they have someone who won't ignore them to talk about their hallucinations with. Story, she was on the phone with one such patient. Now, my mother has a great deal of experience with these patients because of her sister. Still, a 12 hour night shift will wear down anyone's patience when listening to something go on about how the government is out to get them and they're being spied on by the police. "What does this have to do with the Emergency department of CITY hospital?" Guy keeps on talking about his delusion despite her question. She begins to hit her head with the phone a few times like the video and asks again, clearly more annoyed "what does this have to do with the Emergency department of CITY hospital?" She thought nobody could see her do it. She then hears loud laughing from the family room and remembered the husband of the patient in trauma. He told her later that he didn't think anything could cheer him up, but watching her made his day a bit more bearable.

Regarding the first clip about the woman leaving positive feedback. If I’m ever asking for a manager/supervisor to leave positive feedback, I say up front that’s why I want to speak with them. Examples: “Thank you very much. May please l speak to a manger to leave some positive feedback?” Or if I’m making a call regarding something in the recent past: “Hello. May I please leave some positive feedback with a manger, if that’s possible?” That always goes well, and hopefully removes any stress from the employees when they hear the word “manager”. I’m making it clear that I’m not a Karen wanting to stir up trouble.

And people could have a few small birds and 1 large bird. And we had to have some description on file of all pets. So if there was a loose pet or someone got bite. Or if people didn’t clean up after the dogs “business”. But we constantly had people sneaking in extra pets and they would always refuse to pick up dog poop. We couldn’t do anything about it until corporate told us if we actually saw the guest dog poop and the owner walk away we could charge them. And it was put on the pet contract. $5 dollars per day for our grounds man picking up poop

Plus, the store was in a county that stopped selling alcohol at 12 midnight. The nearest place to buy alcohol until 2am was a long drive across the bay to another county. Some people would get so irate, insisting I was making it up, and that they could buy alcohol back home up until 2am, so it must be true everywhere.

Oh lord my husband scares people all the time asking for their manager to tell them great things about our server or whatever type of employee it happens to be. xD I always tell him not to scare them like that so now we make sure to tell them up front it's not for anything bad.

I had a bank that would typically hold the hotel deposit for 30 to 32 days, especially when the hotel was booked third-party and the deposit was completely separate from the hotel nights.

First skit: I have this happen so many times because of my excellent customer service they more or less always call for supervisor/manager - here the person is called supervisor but I always use the same term they used and tell my supervisor if they called for manager just to make sure the customer thinks that I called for someone they didn’t call - makes things easier

Facts! This is so spot on! Discounted perks. From the Airline side: Regarding Upgrades: The Final arbitrator is the Gate Agent By the time the flight ✈️ is boarding that empty seat in Business 1st is going out anyway! Be nice and courteous and chances are good but not promised that you'll get the Upgrade! You may have to board last until all Unreconciled PAX's are accounted for Well worth the wait!

For the first skit, the last time i asked to speak with someone's manager in order to say something positiive, i made sure to tell her that while I wanted to talk to her manager, she was *not* in trouble and i was *not* upset with her, lol. Didn't want to give her a heart attack.

That last skit is the equivalent to my parents saying I'm 10 in restaurants when I'm almost 20. I genuinely just look very young because I'm short and have a baby face. Most people think I'm like 13 anyway. But it just made me laugh because it's something that my mother would definitely do. They not being a Karen or anything.. the granddaughter just wanted to save money. 😂

The debit card situation is bad. Mostly because shit happens. I had a hotel triple charge my card and got stranded at a hospital that had paid parking during my residency. Thankfully they were able to call the bank and fix it immediately. Also got a refund for 1 of the nights for their error

You know i have never worked in a hotel but have had to explain how holds and refunds work a lot. I feel your pain but the scariest thing i have delt with was when a customer put me on the phone with their bank teller and i had to explain how it works to them. It was a credit union! 😬

So dumb how people try to sneak dogs into pet friendly hotels. I’ve stayed at hotels with my dog before and the extra charge if there is one is usually only 10$. As for non pet friendly ones, I guess I can see it happening more but I’ve never had trouble finding a pet friendly one

The skit about the gold on the card. I've experienced the same thing in the food industry I work in. The lady paid for her food by card and then realised the amount was typed in wrong. So she was refunded the amont she paid so that it could be redone correctly. However because she paid with card the refund was processed on our end and was now in her banks hands to do the rest. Even after being told that refunds take a while and are automatic so she doesn't need to tap her card again, she refused to believe that was true and that every other times she has neen refunded money she had to tap the card because how else is the eftpos machine suppose to know where to send the money🙄.

We just tell the guest it will be finalized for the lower amount. I literally just had this happen a couple of days ago. My manager didn’t take something off the check that she never received, and I (admittedly) forgot to double check, and ran her card. I explained that we can cancel the transaction & run her card again, but it would take several days to get the refund posted, or we can finalize it for the adjusted amount & it would correct itself by the end of the next business day. I also offered her to take a picture of the finalized receipt. This is also why I prefer to not run a card until the guest actually has the check in hand…
