I don't know if amazing would be the word I'd use. My daughter worked at a big box retailer and it's scary how often someone would come to her, especially at the customer service desk, and leave their kids as if she were a free babysitter. I've also seen babies left in there strollers at the buggy corral. A child escaping from a room is a little different but the fact she was practiced on what to do about it is concerning.

I have a story: When I was 7 I went to a kid friendly bar (it had juice, water and for some reason food dye) with my parents and aunt and I got a mango juice After some time I asked "hey nice lady, can I have some of what my parents are drinking?" (When I didnt know what someones name was I called them "nice" or "rude" lady/guy) and she said "no sorry" My parents saw this and told me "its for adults sweety" and I said "but you always drink my kid juice so why cant I drink your adult juice?" All the adults were laughing, even some other adults nearby giggled a little and the bartender whispered/asked my parents something and added red food dye to apple juice and poured it in a wine glass I was satisfied for that entire vacation and she had the biggest smile I have ever seen on a person working ever

The first story reminds me of the booking I did once in a hotel near an airport. There were two identical hotels from the same chain and a similar "nicknames". But one was right in front of the airport entry with a few minute walk, the other one was on the other side of the airport with an over 40 minutes walk. I paid attention to the address and could book the correct hotel. When however I later talked to a woman who complained abotu the lack of hotels near that airport she was very surprised that there were two hotels and that you have to check the hotel name AND the address.

I found your channel today, and MAN, I absolutely LOVE IT! I work in two hotels in Quebec, and I can totally relate to your stories! Entitled people are unfortunately so common in the hotel industry! You always try to give the very best customer service, but some people are simply either to stupid to understand what we're trying to tell them, or too self-absorbed to even try to listen to what we're saying! Fortunately, I usually only have problems like this with american tourists, rarely with canadians! 😏 (Unfortunately, I wish I was only joking but... No)

Having worked in customer service longer than I care to think about (but homelessness and starvation can be pretty coercive factors...) I can relate to so many things in your videos. Having to drag order details out of people like a rotten tooth, people insisting they placed their order under a particular email address when in fact, as it always turns out in the end, it was a completely different one ("oh yeah, I forgot about that one..."), people ordering crap they suddenly realise they can't afford and we have to move heaven and earth to cancel/hold the order asap before it moves further down the trough, people bollocksing up their own home address (with the same end scenario as with cancellations...), people buying the wrong size whatever because they couldn't be arsed reading the specs (and somehow that's _our_ fault, obviously) --- och, the list goes on and on. Thanks heaps for your videos, Jessica! You and our fellow CS/F&B/Hospitality colleagues seem to be only sane and rational people in the gigantic lunatic asylum that is planet Earth..😢😂

Good video. The last one... Good time for those girls to learn you never shut the door unless your keys are in your hand. You only have to lock yourself out of the house one time to learn that hard lesson. The one with the lady allergic to all animals. Where does she live that there's no animals around? Even a giant city like New York City has rats, cats, and dogs everywhere. Don't they still have horse riding police officers, to get around traffic? So even big cities still have plenty of animals everywhere. If she lives in the middle of nowhere there's still wildlife everywhere. What a nut. If she's that allergic why isn't she living in a plastic bubble, like that movie from the 70's “The Boy In The Plastic Bubble”, he was allergic to everything too. And I have no doubt some Karen somewhere has said this at a front desk. 🤦‍♀️🤣

The particular one about the key and ID being needed is quite unfortunately true. However, the issue is that people lock their door while forgetting the key, and are not carrying their ID at the time, so a lot of the time it's not even possible to do it that way. In such a case Always be sure to remember your Room Number, and the NAME THE ROOM IS LITERALLY UNDER. in most cases, we can make an educated exception to the rule.

If you're choosing to stay at a resort with conditions that are dangerous to you, that you are well-informed about, and which are totally legal, you are the one risking your own safety. I got worked up cause we had picked up my dogs ashes on our way to the hotel as it was on the way. And it made sense to just do it all in one trip. And i had left the ashes in the room with our stuff as i was paranoid about a car break in. Well she went down to the front desk and they couldnt find our reservation which was weird cause we literally checked in 2 hours ago. 25 minutes later she called as i was sitting outside the door and said "we're dumb. This isnt our hotel. It just looks exactly the same." The front desk woman, manager, and housekeeper all had a good laugh as we were leaving. Turns out ours was a 15 minute drive away and looked exactly the same with same layout and all. 😂

The interrupting lady that stand in line is so funny because it reminds me of similar incident I had a couple of months ago. The front counter person was serving one person. I was standing in line behind them waiting. A young lady walks in, goes past me and stands right next to the man being served. I thought she might be with him due to how close she stood. He turned to her and then moved sideways a step or 2. As soon as he was finished being served she started asking the staff a question, but I stepped forward and said “I am next” and then the staff member started serving me. She got really snippy and said “how was I supposed to know you were next. You were just standing there doing nothing” I said “I was waiting in line.” And turned back to the staff member. The young lady said something like “rude much” and a few other things before someone came from out the back office and asked her to be served at the other desk. Some people are completely oblivious to others.

And she freaks out because she's allergic to all animals, including those who only fly by and won't come anywhere close to her at all. How does she even exist anywhere in the world ? Anywhere there are birds in trees and animals at some distance, if she's that allergic to them she shouldn't survive, let alone go on vacation.

I had a lost reservation incident two years ago. Funny story. I mean it. Picture this: Chicago, early February, really bad snowstorm. I stumbled into the lobby holding my glasses cuz I literally couldn’t see squat out there. I get to the desk and the agent, real nice lady, says my reservation isn’t there. Okay, don’t panic. I pull up the reservation email, show it to her… Punchline: Someone with my name stayed there the night before and canceled my reservation. They managed to get it back - it was about $10-$20 more, I didn’t care. I was stuck on a train since 6am and it was 3:30pm. I’m cold. I’m tired. The staff was very friendly. The wrestling event I was there for was going to start soon and it was quite literally across the street. Here’s the money and the rest was history. My only complaint was I never received confirmation of the cancellation, either via phone or email, which we both thought was weird. What’s the moral, kids? Be kind to the staff. Sometimes stuff happens, and there is a logical explanation for it if you give them the time of day to do so. Nuff said.

Jessica, I really enjoy your skits. I’m shocked at some of the Karen’s you have to deal with. Unfortunately, I must point out that there are some incompetent hotel employees, especially at “Tilton.” My daughter Jessica and I booked a stay in Orlando this week and every promise they made was false or incorrect. They booked us into the wrong area, didn’t tell us the hotel was under major construction, smelled like paint and dust and had Jack hammers going on all day, above us, below us and right next door. We did get offered free breakfast. I guess that makes everything better.😢

During storms hotels used to give away rooms if you came after a certain time unless you called to tell them you were late. Do they still do that? I remember before most people had cellphones, I had to stop at a rest stop to call the hotel to let them know I was late because of a blizzard but I was like 20 miles away with traffic going 10 mph to make sure they didn’t give away my room.

The last story confuses me. You become a daycare by making the girls wait around in the lobby for an hour waiting for their parents to show up? When they could be in their rooms instead and out of your hair? The logic doesn't add up there.

@Cuberstache well, yeah, no doubt that shouldn't have happened in the first place. But making the kids wait around in the lobby waiting for their parents to return literally forces the hotel staff become babysitters until the parents return.

@@AkyomiNo it doesn’t. Babysitting is not in a hotel worker’s job description. If the kids locked themselves out of the room, that’s on them. If they were much younger, it would be a different story, but middle school is like 10-14/15 years old. They can entertain themselves, and it’s not the hotel’s job to entertain them.

Legal reasons a valid ID matching the reservation name is needed for no one to get sued. Alternatively, pre signed legal authorization with ID of the reservation booker sent in the central or to a manager ahead of time can authorized a child/or other person to get a key without the original booker

If this is a hotel and not a daycare then why did you post the video about the kid who couldn’t sleep and you let her hang out with you? You even gave her a snack option and crayons. Sounds like a daycare. Just curious 🧐

  • @FoxyfloofJumps

The options are keeping the kid happy, and accounted for in terms of safety. Or waking up literally every person staying in the hotel to try and find the correct parent(s) and ensuring they can identify her as their child. It's a "make the best of a bad situation," not a regular occurrence. Please don't be so deliberately obtuse.

Most hotels don't have cameras covering the actual doors to private rooms, because of privacy laws. They'll limit it to stairwells, elevators, lobbies, and service entrances/exits. Usually. Different countries all have differing laws about this subject.

  • @FoxyfloofJumps

    @FoxyfloofJumps

It is the fault of the parents, and they will be informed as such on their return. But laws are laws, and hotels are always looking out for their own legal and financial well-being first. Giving out keys without guaranteeing the ID's match the people, is a great way to be implicated if there's a crime being committed. Or suffer damages not covered by the hotel's insurance underwriters.

This, 100% it's a way for underage kids to secure a place to drink/do drugs/have sex without their parents finding out. Find a less-scrupulous adult who's willing to fake a relation to the group in question, then book, have a party, and dip out without any adult supervision or legal consent.@@42ayla
