Hotel Gossip Sesh 💅 Skits 1-3

Here's a little compilation of Natalia and Liz's gossip sesh! I'm so glad you all like their videos so much!
There are many awesome stories about working in hotels that I simply cannot turn into their own dedicated skits. Usually its because of the subject matter. 😂 I don't think anyone wants to see me acting out a bride "blegh"-ing all over herself! I also don't think it'd be the best idea to bring a marsupial into my house to film with... Yeah, no. That would end badly.
But there have been MANY times I've gossiped about the wild things that happen at hotels with my coworkers. So this format just seemed perfect to still make a skit out of a story! Plus, I just have so much fun with these two characters!
If you have a story of your experiences working at hotels, or just in customer service in general, please share it with me! I may even make a skit out of it! 😉

I'm guessing your "Marsupial" was a Sugar Glider? Cute, adorable little critters that bound with humans easily. About one of the only suddenly found in an empty hotel room that won't immediately inspire fear and panic.

@@raraavis7782 Might have more than one. Friend of a friend used to have a pair of Sugar Gliders and when traveling the cage was kept covered. If one got out you would still hear the one inside so if you didn't make sure both were in the cage before you checked out it might be a bit before you discovered one had escaped.

@@1300BlueStar True. Well, at least they had the decency, to call as soon as they noticed. I'm curious, about whether or not the hotel charged them anything extra for all the trouble. It's a 'pet friendly' hotel, if I remember correctly, so they probably didn't sneak the animal in secretly, at least.

I've experienced all of these, including someone leaving their prosthetic foot (High end sport model). I drove the foot to the airport as their flight hadn't left yet. (Benefit of a less active airport, easy to look up most likely flights.) Our "damages" story included a warning of "If you put these two people on the same floor one will be dead by the next day." Fun!

At the hotel I managed, had a guest report the theft of 40k bucks. Apparently, there is a practice in the horse racing industry that you go to a pre-determined location, speak with the people in the room, leave them the cash, then go outside and wait (10-15 minutes) for them to tell you yes or no if they'll sell the horse. So, the guys leave the cash and after half an hour, knock on the door. Since it was a first floor room, one of them went around and found the back sliding glass door open and the two guy + cash-gone. So, we called the cops. After a cop arrives, he goes to the guy's room. He comes back about 15 minutes later and actually says "Did you know that those guys actually had 40k in cash taken?" Since it was a really stupid question I replied "No s*it Sherlock. What was your first clue? Oh yeah, when we called you." He gave me a dirty look and walked out. A detective arrived a half hour later. We cooperated and gave the popo the front desk video and folio card (this was the early 90's, we still used paper). No clue if the perps were caught.

Regarding the final story about the pre-paid damages… What kind of organization did this? I’m not asking for a name drop but at least a category. Was it a “wrestling” entertainment group like the WWE or something? Because I can’t even begin to fathom what other group of people would be expected to do THAT much damage to a hotel room. And WTF why did they steal the toilets!?

Actually, they did in the form of paychecks. Housekeeping did what they usually do, I imagine, and got paid what they usually get paid. For the major repairs I also imagine special contractors were called in and paid whatever rates they charged for work that, to them, is fairly standard. And the damage fees paid covered these paychecks, materials and lost revenue from days the rooms couldn't be sold after. Now, you can argue hotel staff aren't paid what they are worth in the first place, but that's a different argument.

One guy got in a fight with his wife and got up on the roof from their balcony and slept on the roof the entire night. No one noticed until a manager showed up at 7: 00. And the other guy got in a fight with his wife and slammed his head through the double paned glass sliding door to their balcony. I don't know how he is alive. I'm surprised he didn't slash his jugular. He had a couple scratches and a concussion, and a 5k damages bill. The poor couple throwing the wedding were so embarrassed of their friends behavior

It's usually below the tank on the left side (or whatever makes sense in the space, I guess.) Of course, that's assuming whoever works on it is sober enough to think of shutting off the water.

Thankfully nothing happened to him, but he heard stories from some Navy folks out of Belle Chase. What?! That's so messed up! If the animal is illegal to own as a pet, it should be taken to a rehab facility and/or released into the wild

@@taylor_green_9 Most sanctuaries/rehab facilities are full. What people don’t realize is they rely on donations from the public which are few. Also you can never release a wild animal that’s been a pet it would not survive.

Question for anyone able to answer: what are tipping customs these days in hotels, like for room service and such? Can we ask for the tip to be added to the bill, or is it still done in cash per transaction (room service, cleaning, etc.)

You tip room service the same way you'd tip a waiter in a restaurant. Maids you typically tip at least $1 per guest per night. Cash is the preferred medium since hospitality industry people universally cheat like fiends on their income taxes. 🤣

@@colormedubious4747 I'm in Canada, so we tip with the debit or credit card on the bill. Typical service goes anywhere from 10% to 25%. What's it like in the US these days?
