mgmt should try this......give free parking ONLY to shoppers.....let them take a ticket to have the gate open, then after they pau shop....validate the ticket and the gate opens...happy customer, store makes $$$$$$$....if mgmt has to, hire securitas or similar and tell the homeless to scoot!

just heard.....today, april 21, 2023.....today was its last day :((((......I really enjoyed shopping there after hours and buying things that were in stock while other stores were out of stock!!! I think what fueled the fire was the homeless.....and probably shoplifters.... If macys was there previous, then WM took over and spruced up the place few years later and now, they are gone.....imagine retail industry is DYING due to homelessness......

That entire area when it gets dark is dangerous. The chronics, homeless, and squatters.

Nobody wants to go there cause of the sketchy area. It's also not that convenient or safe. Not surprised that it's closing, just that it took so long for it to finally close.

That's what I thought. I think the current building got rebuilt in the 1980s or 1990s.

I went to this location when I was in Honolulu. It really is an important Wal-Mart location for the people on Oahu. People have to eat, and this Wal-Mart really did provide some of the best prices for food on the island. Prices comparable to mainland California. The prices were a lot better than Foodland or ABC stores.

It has nothing to do with shoplifting. Pay attention! Walmart stated that they weren't making money there AND their forecasts for revenue was poor. Makes sense, doesn't it? That location has been a turn-style for many businesses. How many of YOU been there? Not much I imagine, why? Because it is situated in an area that is busy during business hours, but goes dead once the workday is done.

Ok, but... wouldn't shoplifting make it hard to make a profit? -And... wouldn't WalMart be reluctant to state it had anything to do with theft, after the accusations of racism, regarding other closures,(like Portland)?

@@pinoygal6232 A rat infestation would make it difficult to make a profit too... Why not add that into the mix? And Walmart has stated in the past regarding closures of stores due to shoplifting. Why would this be different? Lol. Stop drinking the Kool aid Karen.
