Drugstores Blame Shoplifting for Locked Up Shelves

Drugstores are locking up just about every item for sale, including everyday staples like toothpaste and moisturizer. Even basic painkillers are under lock and key at many big chain locations. Consumer frustration is growing over the hassle of shopping for basics these days. Scenes of shoplifting from drugstores across the country have raised eyebrows as thieves' brazenness has increased throughout the pandemic, as many people are growing more desperate.

i'm 100% sure that the employees loosing their jobs in the 5 stores just closed, would rather be employed, and running around unlocking shelves, than be on the breadline.

The employees would literally have to follow me around and help me do my groceries then. I usually do about $300-$400 each time I go. I’m not mad that it’s locked, I’m just saying, they’re going to have to open up a lot of different things for me.

Do you want this to end? Then you should petition your local lawmakers to make shoplifting a misdemeanor at least I would say about a month or two sounds good to me if you shoplift in your caught congrats you have a month or two of jail time Sounds Fair to me Me personally I know this will never pass but I think shoplifting should be treated the same as Robbery

They should get at least one security guy with a gun in each store. If their presence won't scare them off ,after some shoplifters will be shot , then they will be scared For a more nonviolent method, I would also suggest building separate entrances and exits. Build them with one-way gates, doors.the full height ones so they won't be able to jump over or crawl under them . At the exit, gate put a code scanner that will open them when it will scan codes from receipts. If the person that exits didn't buy anything they will be able to leave without any suspicion or search if they don't have big bags with them. Even if they don't have any bags but still stole only one item it wouldn't be that bad . At the exit put a security guard ,if you want a separate person checking people leaving and opening gates for people who didn't buy anytihng. It can just be a normal security, without a gun

Ones 2 guys came and grabbed the biggest Gain and Tide detergent(like 3 or 4 each guy) and ran out. Same with the display with the phone accessories, snatched from the shelf and took off. No lic. plates or temporary plates. It has gotten so bad that they have people watching the camera all day, if they see something suspicious they speak thru the speakers to let them know I'm watching you. And they leave scared. Is ugly on retail this days .

I don’t have a problem with this!! Use to be a supervisor.. and omg! I can recall so many people walking in and out with bags of items. Especially so many middle school and high school kids coming in after school stealing alcohol.. since we were literally located across the street from a junior high school But lowkey if I was still working there. I can probably see the frustration of both the workers and customers. But let’s be considerate, if that was your business, you probably would want to do anything to protect your business from going down
