I have my moms favorite picture of her at age 6 sitting in her little wooden rocking chair with her hands folded in 1929 she loved that picture and I love it too I miss her💖

Oh thank you Linda....I think Bill and I were soul mates....we got off track but we would have found our way back to each other if he had not gotten so sick. It's easy to see him...I want to see him more than I can...after I see him I feel full of energy and happiness...it's hard to explain...but I think maybe that is love? When life changed dramatically and I had to start over again. I started scouring goodwill, good stuff left behind by someone moving out of the apartment complex, dollar tree, or things people would give me they didn't want. I learned how to reuse them, repaint furniture, anything I could teach myself to do, I did it. I wanted to show my kids you can make almost anything into something beautiful if you just try. They saw me make mistakes and saw me sometimes get frustrated. I hope they will remember those times. And how with a little hard work and dedication you can make a beautiful home for very little money. Years later life is better and I would still rather pick up something second hand and make it over then buy new, it's my therapy.

I so agree Lea....and it was very touching to read your words. There is something Godly about walking those aisles and seeing beauty through the dust and chaos. Maybe even a metaphor for my own life.... look for the good in everything. I felt this video is one of the prettiest ones you have shared. I am not very religious but I saw the Great Creator in this beautiful work. So anyway just wanted to send 💕 to you añd Desi. I have the large framed photo of my Mom at age 2 back in 1939, it was on her bedroom wall, until she passed in 2015. It's a large gesso frame with curved glass and it's hand tinted. It's just lovely!

You find all beauty in everyday life, and turn them into a masterpiece!..⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

During Covid I have been decorating more with plants. Love being surrounded by greenery if I have to stay home.

I like to decorate with calm and peace in mind. Very minimalist, but with colors of blues, green, cream and turquoise mostly. The flow has to be open and breezy. Lots of candles and light and airy. I love your videos and photography, but mostly I just love hearing you open your heart and share your life. I wish we were neighbors!

The 1959 -1980 is a good era to decorate to. Simple furniture and furnishings. Real looking, no fancy pieces. lots of wood. That is how you will find my home. The silk flowers in USA are beautiful.

The mirror looks beautiful on your wall with the plant beneath. So glad you found it!

My Grandma and her sister loved to crochet delicate doilies. They were used in every room, under vases, ornaments, all kinds of nik naks, even under the sugar bowl. Even on armrests and headrests on the sofas, heck even under the spare toilet roll that had a crocheted doll covering! I had them stored away and thought what a shame they're not used anymore. Until one day I had a lightbulb moment! I painstakingly arranged and sewed all the doilies together to make the most gorgeous bed spread and chair cover. Now I get to sleep under all that love. Grandma would've loved it ❤

I almost started bawling when you talked about Bill, if my ex ever developed a memory problem I could definitely see myself spending time with him...

My mum made my wedding cake of purple and white orchids so i have purple orchids in bloom on my dining room window sill a beautiful reminder of a loving mum.

Love the picture of your mom. So adorable. Sue, how do you hang all those pictures. Some I'm sure are heavy. My wall has a photograph of great grandson and his dog Charley looking out window at the rain. Another grandson and daughter. These are frameless canvas pictures. I have one of my sister and I in the sprinklers one summer in the 1950s. I'm getting that done as well for the wall. ... I adore your decorating and I love thrifting and garage sales. I remember reading an article years ago that said to decorate with things that you love. They said, that in decorating that way you are sure to have everything go together and look beautiful. Speaking of things that I love...I'm finally coming home to Michigan after living in Kentucky for almost 16 years. My Realtor, my son sold my house here in KY before it even hit the market! So now my hubby and I are scrambling to be in our Ionia, MI house by June 4, 2021. A number of things need to come together yet as far as getting my Ionia house ready to live in, but I have faith that it will all work out in the end....I'm SO excited to be coming home to my big mitten state where all my old friends and family live.

i like going thrifting because i feel as is i am on a treasure hunt for a treasure waiting just for me. i love that black and white with the red phone booth. I have been working on my garden. Bill is lucky to have you. I decorate the yard for nature.

When it comes to decorating, I love to mix antiques with fresh additions like colorful rugs, pillows, bird and flower prints to bring the outdoors in, light walls, to offset the heaviness of antique furniture. The best compliment I get is that visitors say my house feels like a B&B.

I am so glad you got to see Bill. What a precious gift for you both..... You are such a gift..... love all your thrift finds! Love to you and Desi. My Milo is now 14 months old and just earned his first AKC title - his CGC! Getting closer to being a therapy dog. We added another little boy, Reese, to our family 2 months ago. I begin class with him in 2 weeks. They are such joys. And they keep me hopping! Hugs. Sue, Milo and Reese.

I am so glad to get an update on Bill. Susan, that is really wonderful that he thinks you are still married. How comforting for him. Desi looks very dapper.

Susan, I was an art teacher and taught that art technique of clay coiled pottery to my students. Your pots looked just like our art projects. They are treasures!

I love to decorate with pictures and objects that hold meaning to me. I have little statues that belonged to my mother. A small glass picture that meant the world to my dad, pictures of both of them. My husband has many treasures that belong to his parents that we have and decorate with.I also love anything that was a gift from one of my family members or friends , especially our kids and grandkids, and those are always on display. Like you, My husband and I love to decorate from thrift shops . We also love yard sales and antique stores as well. We just bought a new piece of furniture for our family room that is a gorgeous vintage piece from the 60s that was made in a much older style ! We absolutely are enthralled with it ! We both love when we find something unique and one-of-a-kind. We especially love to buy unique art. Preferably original art . It makes me and my husband very sad when we are at an estate sale and art that was drawn by the person who passed away is up for sale and nobody in the family wants it. We have bought several pieces of art that were pencil drawings , because we just couldn’t stand the thought of them not coming home and being treasured by someone ! Thanks for sharing your very personal story about Bill. How loving it is for you to let him believe you’re still married so that he can be happy. I’m glad you finally got to see him! I can only imagine how painful it was to not be able to see someone you dearly love for that long. I can’t even imagine it . Well, this was another lovely video, Susan and Desi, thank you for it. I love all the items you got. I have a gallery wall where I display all the photographs and portraits of my grandparents and great-grandparents. These are all photographs from the middle to late 1800s, except a couple of my mother when she was very young. We had a water leak in that wall recently and miraculously, none of these portraits were damaged. My daughter loves polkadots because she is a spiralians expert, a scientist. She has always loved round images. My style is grand millennial with a few mid-century items I got from my parents' first house (for relief). Hugs. 👩🏻💖

I have been watching your videos now for 2 months. My life has been torn by my husband wanting a divorce, he doesn't want to be around me anymore. When I first moved away and in my vacation home I found your video for the first time. You gave me encouragement, that I could get through this time, I was married 48 years, my first love at 17 years old. I like how you shop in the thrift store. I love shopping them, too - I'm shocked sometimes as to what people will give away! I found some Chinese black lacquer panels with mother-of-pearl inserts of birds and fanciful plants - there were four of them in the set. So, of course...they came home. I like to decorate with classic art - like da Vinci and Rembrandt - got some nice frames for some prints, and it creates a really nice gallery wall. I like vintage items - I kind of wonder, "If these items could talk...!". My favorite picture of my mom was her favorite. She was sitting on a bench, with a flower in her hair, and was about 24 years old. She was beautiful - dark hair, green eyes, porcelain skin. She passed away about 15 years ago. I miss her so much - she was my "cheerleader", and always had good advice. She also "dressed" just to go out to the grocery store - classic style. I also like the way you compose your videos - with the music, camera work, etc.

I decorate for my grandkids by putting new art or fun items on the walls of their play closet filled with toys. They can’t wait to see what’s new and different for them.

I worked in assisted living for 35 years that means the most people's when you come in and visit them because after a while a lot of family just leaves their family behind and they never go and visit anybody in Assisted Living just that little piece of love goes a long way

This makes me so sad. But also proud. My husband and I looked after his mom and dad in their last years. We’re now doing it for my mom. I promised her she would never be in “an old folks home.” Her words. It’s hard. But, it’s so important.

Thrifting is like a treasure hunt!!! Sometimes it's great and other times not so.much. I buy everything second hand except certain items. The area l live in has fantastic second hand shopping. I love how you decorate your home...it's fantastic!!! I use lots of cozy type items....our dining area is special because we have family meals together. Life has thrown curve balls at all of us....making lemonade out of lemons and having a beautiful life no matter what!!! So glad l found your channel!

Our home is 99% thrift store finds. I’m addicted to them.💕 but it makes a home in my opinion. Everything is different, set apart and cozy.

I love to decorate my home for the holidays with items that are meaningful and special for my family. For all other times, I do seasonal decorating in my kitchen, dining room and living room. Dearest Susan, you asked about how we decorate our homes - well, I was blessed to live in England for about 15 years - and I am not exaggerating, I spent every weekend at antique fairs, ‘car boot sales’, markets - you name it! I collected all kinds of period furniture, lamps, linens, China and glass, silverware, mirrors, antique prints and pictures - I love it all! So my home is very much like yours! I describe it as ‘eclectic’. It doesn’t suit everyone - but it definitely suits me! 🙋‍♀️🥰💕💐🤗

What is left of my family is spread across the eastern half of the United States. We don't see each other all that often. As a result, I decorate for nobody but myself. That said, I do have my parents wedding picture in my living room and favorite pictures of dear friends who are gone. I have no particular decorating style except that I definitely lean modern. I used to love a lot of tchotchkes out everywhere and I got tired of dusting them so they are now in a class cabinet where I can admire them but not have to dust them constantly.

I’ve lost all pleasure in decorating due to moving from a darling house with three bedrooms two baths to a 2 bedroom 2 small bathrooms older mobile home. I can’t fit my lovely things all into this home so have lost interest. My main attention these days is healing from hip surgery and my two precious little Pomeranian dog’s. Tuff-e and Baby. I love your beautiful apartment and how you have made it into a show place with you wonderful decorating skills. I love the black and white gallery wall as you come into your apartment. Beautiful! The mirror is lovely in your home! Such a knack you have for decorating and making your home cozy and inviting. I love watching your thrift hauls and the reasons for each purchase. I am happy you were able to finally visit Bill, but still sad that you had to do so behind a window. Hopefully that will change in the coming months. I love looking at all the beautiful things in my home. Most are antiques, but not just any old thing. The item has to meet the "beautiful" criteria 🥰. And, it may not be beautiful to someone else, but it's beautiful to me. They are items that evoke feelings....hard to explain.

Just adore your wonderful sense of humour. Every wall in my home is full of works of art that I've been collecting for over 40 yrs. None have a theme but beautifully framed and perfectly put on the walls. All the same length at the bottom and exactly same space between each picture. Looks stunning and very professional. Thank u for the beautiful video always excellent editing and photography

I do themed trees for every holiday. I collect special ornaments .OWC and Radko. It has become very special to me and my family.

I love your animal conversations They're funny and cute.

I like rocks and trees. We have two grown sons - one is a stonemason who likes rocks and one is a gardener who likes trees. We are all artists. My gallery wall is a collection of paintings and photos of rocks and trees, and I think of our sons when I look at this gallery wall.

Thank you Patricia! I do like a few large peices of art. What I did is I ordered 2 of my favorite prints from artists that I loved and then had those prints framed. It cost me $100 to have them framed ( well that was 1998!) LOL...but looking back, I htink it was worth it to get just my size. I bet your home looks very pretty just the way it is but it's always fun to try a new look too! Happy new week to you! Love, Susan & Desi

My mom died on this day, in 2020 it's hard not to have somebody that'll always be there no matter what happens in life. I didn't have the best relationship with my mom, but damn I miss her being here, If you still have your parents consider yourself lucky because it's unlikely to find somebody as devoted as they will be to you.

I'm sorry, for your loss. Don't dwell on the things you can't change just remember the good times you had with her, even when it is hard to come to terms with, Everything happens for a reason. I think about what I should've done or could've done. but it never changes a thing in the past to think that way the mind is a cruel thing.

My mom also left me last year at 102 and I could not go to her funeral. 😢

Monika I don't think you thrift...am I right? I always think of you and Jay as being so busy! I have seen your home and i'ts full of beautiful things!!!! I am hoping we get a good summer..coming out of the darkness...this last year was so brutal. If you go live please let me know!!!

I love your home and how it’s decorated with such beautiful unique thrift items. I really do love your thrifting videos and where you wind up putting them in your place. It’s so warm and cozy feeling with the lighting contributing to it all. My style is European lush. Velvets, bronzes, heavy furniture, wrought iron and warm colors. I like to pretend that I live in France or in Italy in those really old homes with the cobbled stone path ways. And, I love Crowns because I am the the queen of my home. I can dream can’t I ???????
